Grand Jury Hits Dem Rep. LaMonica McIver with 3-Count Indictment

Could it be that we’re seeing just a little bit of accountability for the Left? On Tuesday, we saw ABC News correspondent Terry Moran fired over a toxic social media post, California Gov. Gavin Newsom shut down by a Clinton-appointed judge, and before the day was through, we learned that a grand jury had returned a three-count indictment against New Jersey Rep. LaMonica McIver. She is being charged with “forcibly impeding and interfering with federal law enforcement officers.” If convicted, the combative congresswoman faces a maximum penalty of 17 years behind bars.

In the body cam footage below obtained by independent journalist Benny Johnson, McIver is seen trying to force her way into a Newark, New Jersey, ICE detention center last month. She is heard shouting at the agents, “I’m filing a complaint. You don’t dare talk to a congresswoman like that.” At one point, she yells, “I touch whoever I want mother fu****!” Classy lady.

McIver’s indictment was announced by U.S. Attorney Alina Habba in a social media post which read:

Today a federal grand jury seated in Newark, New Jersey returned a three-count indictment charging U.S. Representative LaMonica McIver with forcibly impeding and interfering with federal law enforcement officers. This indictment has a maximum penalty of 8 years for Count One, an additional maximum penalty of 8 years for Count Two, and a maximum penalty of 1 year in prison for Count Three. As I have stated in the past, it is my Constitutional obligation as the Chief Federal Law Enforcement Officer for New Jersey to ensure that our federal partners are protected when executing their duties. While people are free to express their views for or against particular policies, they must not do so in a manner that endangers law enforcement and the communities those officers serve.Today’s decision by the grand jury is the next step in a process that my Office will pursue to a just end.

Shortly after the May 9 incident, Habba’s office charged McIver with “violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 111(a)(1) for assaulting, impeding and interfering with law enforcement.”

The criminal complaint, which can be viewed here, states that McIver “did forcibly assault, resist, oppose, impede, intimidate, and interfere with a person designated in Title 18, United States Code, Section 1114.”

A sworn statement contained in the complaint from Robert Tansey, a special agent with the Newark Division of the Department of Homeland Security, states:

14. McIVER slammed her forearm into the body of V-1, a uniformed HSI agent. She also reached out and tried to restrain V-1 by forcibly grabbing him.15. Following the arrest, McIVER also pushed an ICE officer (V-2) and used each of her forearms to forcibly strike V-2 as she returned inside the secure area of the facility.

On Tuesday evening, McIver published a brief statement on X in which she maintained her innocence and called the indictment a “brazen attempt at political intimidation.” She added that she looks forward to her day in court. [We do too.]

According to the New York Post, “By law, members of Congress are authorized to go into federal immigration facilities as part of their oversight powers, even without notice. Congress passed a 2019 appropriations bill that spelled out the authority.”

McIver, 38, is new to Congress. Following the death of Rep. Donald Payne Jr., she won a special election in September and secured a full term in November. Prior to that, she served as the president of the Newark City Council and worked in the city’s public school system, as per the Post.

This incident was not the first time McIver made national headlines. She first came to our attention during the early days of DOGE. After Elon Musk’s team pulled back the curtain and exposed the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as little more than a global charity for progressive causes in early February, a large group of House Democrats gathered outside of the Treasury Department building to let their voices be heard.

New Jersey Rep. LaMonica McIver bellowed into the microphone, “We will not take this! We will fight back! And godd*** it, shut down the Senate! We are at war!”

Considering McIver only arrived in Washington nine months ago, she’s certainly made one heck of a splash, hasn’t she?
