Democrats Lose It After JD Vance Calls Alex Padilla ‘José Padilla’ During LA Visit

On Friday, Vice President J.D. Vance visited Los Angeles, where the primary mission was to thank ICE agents for their hard work and the National Guard troops who were helping keep the peace after anti-ICE riots broke out in the Democrat-run city earlier this month.

During a press conference he participated in while there, Vance blasted California Gov. Gavin Newsom and LA Mayor Karen Bass, noting that National Guard troops would not have been needed in LA had both of them been doing their jobs.

He also said he had been hoping Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA), whom he called “José Padilla,” would have been there, while making a point about Democrats and political theater:

The vice president was in Southern California discussing the recent unrest concerning immigration protests, National Guard deployment, and ICE enforcement.

A reporter asked Vance to comment on the Trump administration’s alleged “crackdown” on Democrats. Vance responded that he’d hoped “Jose Padilla” would be present at the conference to ask a question, but “decided not to show up because there wasn’t a theatre.”

“Pure, political theatre. These guys show up, they want to be captured on camera doing something. They want to be able to go back to their far-left groups and to say ‘Look, me, I stood up against border enforcement,'” Vance answered.

Judging by the clip, it didn’t look like Vance was mocking or trying to make a joke about Padilla’s name. After I watched it, I figured he’d just made a mistake:

That is, of course, not how the Vance Derangement Syndrome sufferers in the Democrat Party took it. As per the norm, the race card was either blatantly tossed out there or strongly implied:

Sen. Padilla actually seemed to get choked up about it during an MSNBC interview he did Saturday:

“He knows my name,” Padilla told MSNBC Saturday morning. “Look, sadly it’s just an indicator of how petty and unserious this administration is. He’s the vice president of the United States. You’d think he’d take the situation in Los Angeles more seriously.”

A Vance spokesman responded to questions about the VP’s remarks by suggesting it was an understandable mistake:

“He must have mixed up two people who have broken the law,” Vance spokesperson Taylor Van Kirk told CBS News.

My only thought here is that if mixing up two Hispanic-Americans makes one a “racist,” what does that make the DCCC?

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, or DCCC, mistakenly swapped photos of Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar, R-Fla., and Rep. Monica de la Cruz, R-Texas, in a TikTok graphic meant to smear de la Cruz. “These Republicans will lose their seats next year,” the DCCC wrote in the post, targeting de la Cruz, among other lawmakers. But instead of showing a photo of de la Cruz, the graphic displayed an image of Salazar, a completely different Hispanic Republican from another state.

Inquiring minds want to know…
