DHS Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed that the department and ICE took Colorado terror suspect Mohamed Sabry Soliman’s family into federal custody.
Soliman is accused of attacking a pro-Israel rally with Molotov cocktails, injuring 12 people.
Noem said in a video:
Today, the Department of Homeland Security and ICE are taking the family of suspected Boulder, Colorado, terrorist’s, and the illegal alien, Mohammed Soliman into ICE custody now. Muhammad’s despicable actions will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.But we’re also investigating to what extent his family knew about this horrific attack, if they had any knowledge of it or if they provided support to it.I am continuing to pray for the victims of this attack and for all of their families. Our thoughts and our prayers go out to all of them and I want them to know that justice will be served.
The FBI raided Soliman’s home after his capture.
Soliman is an Egyptian national. His work authorization expired at the end of March.
Soliman’s charging document mentions how his wife left their house, but delivered an iPhone 14 that belonged to Soliman and was “used by other members of their family.”
The suspect has five children, but the documents did not list their ages.
However, Soliman told law enforcement he planned the attack on the pro-Israel rally “for a year and was waiting until after his daughter graduated to conduct the attack.”
