Man Arrested After Driving Car Into Crowd at Liverpool Parade

Police arrested a white British man, 53, after he drove his car into a crowd celebrating Liverpool’s FC’s Premier League victory.

Notice how the media immediately identified the race of the man? I’m still seeing media reporting it as “a car” driving through a car…because a car can totally do that on its own.
I guess it could if a person got out without putting it in park but still. Not like this.
“We would ask people not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding tonight’s incident on Water Street in Liverpool city centre,” a police spokesman said, according to The London Times. “Extensive inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision. We would ask people not to share distressing content online but to send the footage or information directly to us @MerPolCC or pass on information by calling 101 quoting log 784.”
Witnesses said they heard screams and their descriptions sound like the man did it on purpose, not losing control of the car:
Dom, who declined to give his last name, said: “We were just walking back and a car was next to a police van honking his horn. People were moving out the way and he just put his foot to the floor and went straight through.
“Loads of lads chased him down and about three minutes later a bunch of police chased [him] down. An elderly guy jumped right into my feet.”
Another person said it looked deliberate:
A witness who was walking with a group of friends saw a car “speeding up” and hit pedestrians. Mike Maddra said the “car turned left” and “mounted pavement” before driving towards him and his friends.
“We got out the way and it was speeding up,” he said, adding that he thought he saw two people being hit. “It looked deliberate,” he said.

Collision? Collison?!?? Technically true I guess, he did collide with a lot of people as he plowed through the crowd. At least that’s what I saw in the video.

I’m assuming this is supposed to say “car driving through a crowd.” But that aside, yes, a car can do that. We have self driving cars these days.
People can also lose control of a vehicle, often for medical reasons.

It is so very odd that the British media would report that a “53 year old White, British man” was arrested at the scene and not that the driver was a 53 year old, White British man. Also, I just watched a video (albeit from Twitter) and it sure as heck looks like a much younger man, or at least a man with black hair, was driving the car. The 53 year old White man had grayish, white hair.
And a still photo makes the driver look like an Arab.
Could the media be lying in such a blatant manner? And why?

Why would anyone believe the British police, politicians and press?

From watching video it looks to me like a guy drove either unintentionally or intentionally into the parade route and the mob started attacking his car. After beating on his car someone tried to open the door and he most likely went full speed to get away from the mob. Not everything is a jihadi terrorist attack, folks.
You’re right, but the police reaction is suspicious. If it were a medical issue, you’d think the report would be that a driver “appeared to be suffering from a medical emergency” or was disoriented or something along those lines. Or the driver “took a wrong turn, and was trying to escape the angry mob”. Add in the request for no online speculation and it matches their standard reaction to jihadi behaviour, protect the offender at all costs.
