Lara Trump Says Jake Tapper Called Her to Apologize for Rebuking Her Claims of Biden Decline

In 2020, Lara Trump appeared on Jake Tapper’s CNN show and expressed concerns about Joe Biden’s mental acuity. Not only did Tapper not take her seriously, he berated her for even raising the issue. He claimed that she was mocking Biden’s stutter, a thing that no one had even heard about in Biden’s long career.
Now that Tapper is selling a book about Biden’s mental decline, people have been waiting for him to admit that Lara Trump was right. Apparently, he called her and apologized.

Since releasing the damning book on the Biden presidency “Original Sin” earlier in May, CNN anchor Jake Tapper has faced scrutiny for his past coverage of former President Joe Biden’s alleged decline in office.
Although Tapper has admitted to insufficiently reporting on Biden’s health concerns, the CNN anchor went on to apologize to Fox News host Lara Trump, whom he previously rebuked for raising concerns in 2020.
While Trump does “appreciate” the apology, she said “it feels a little bit too late.”
“Jake Tapper saying that this is like a Watergate-level type of situation, now that he played a role in it, it feels a little bit too late to me. I do appreciate that he did keep his word, though, and has come out and said that I was right,” Trump said Tuesday on “The Ingraham Angle.”
Trump said Tapper called her about two months ahead of the release of “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again.” During the call, he told Trump he would apologize on TV for his exchange with Trump in October 2020 on CNN.

It’s nice that Tapper called her, but why didn’t he have her on the show to apologize to her in person?
The Tapper book tour and everything connected to it simply looks like a massive CYA operation. It appears he is just trying to absolve himself and CNN for their part in the Biden charade.

It is too late. What Tapper is trying to do is rehabilitate himself to get an in into the Trump administration. It is pretty cowardly and I don’t believe him for a moment. He had to see the decline in Biden. We all did and he was much much closer.
No I don’t think that’s it. All normal people saw that he was senile before he ran for President in 2020. The press actively covered it up, and covered it up hard. After the debate in 2024 it was so obvious no one could deny it. Then – as it was undeniable – people are bound to look back and see who was involved in this coverup AND who was really running the country the last four years. As regards the former question – the perpetrators saw that their cover was blown and the best option for them was to write the history and carefully whitewash themselves out of the picture. THAT is what the book is about. To erase their culpability. They know they have no access to Trump. This is about erasing the past.
I’ll see your book and raise you hours and hours of video plus 100s of tweets. A whitewashing isn’t possible in this day and age for someone as exposed as Tapper is.
I think you’re close, but not quite on target. Tapper is trying to rehabilitate himself not because he wants to court sources in the Trump administration but because he needs the public to trust him again in time for the 2026 midterm elections. He doesn’t care if Trump officials leak him information – he’ll just make up sources or cloak Democrats behind “anonymous sources” again.
But Trapper needs to get his credibility back so that enough voters believe him when he says Trump needs to be stopped by electing Democrats.
Apologies are absolutely worthless. Words are free and can be forgotten as fast as they are uttered. In Western civilization we are Guilt-Atonement society. Do not apologize for wrongdoing – atone for it. Admit it – not an apology, an admission of the offense, Make the personal effort to right the wrong. Accept the just punishment for it. There must be punishment.
Tapper (and the rest of the dems) are still refusing to admit anything – even as they try to issue fake apologies that they believe are easy utterances that will rid them of the guilty offenses they have committed. They are all claiming, now, that they didn’t know – that they were fooled!! Lie built upon lie. That is not atonement. That is a whole new offense.
I think “repent” is a better word. It requires “turning away” from ones sinful behavior. It’s against human nature to repent.
I have to disagree. We alleviate guilt through atonement, not repentance. Repentance is purely personal – that’s between you and G-d. Atonement is how we make things right with society – admission, compensation for the injury (undoing it or paying in some way if it can’t be undone) and accepting punishment. All 3 are required in Western Civilization (Judeo-Christian society) in order to alleviate guilt for a wrongful act. The personal guilt cannot be satisfied until society is made whole again and the perpetrator suffers the just punishment.

As others have specuated, Tapper and others are laying the ground work for an attack on Trump. “We were fooled by Biden’s mental decline but we won’t be fooled by Trump’s mental decline.” After awhile, mental health “experts” will start appearing on MSM saying Trump has early dementia and needs to be removed from office, etc.

What she shared was a total non-apology by Tapper. He supposedly said, “I know everybody is saying I should apologize to you” is not an apology. How about, “Lara, what I did to you in that interview was wrong and I am deeply sorry for the way I treated you. If a some point you find it in your heart to forgive me, I would ask for your forgiveness . I will do my best to never treat anyone that I interview going forward, the horrible way I treated you.”
