DHS Providing Travel Assistance, Stipend for Illegal Aliens Who Voluntarily Self-Deport

In the end, the initiative would save taxpayers a lot of money since it costs around $17,121 to arrest, detain, and remove a single illegal alien.

The Department of Homeland Security announced an initiative to encourage illegal aliens to self-deport using the CBP Home App.

Those who use the CBP APP will help facilitate illegal aliens, including money, to return to their home country.

The illegal aliens will receive a $1,000 stipend once they make it home.

“If you are here illegally, self-deportation is the best, safest and most cost-effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest. DHS is now offering illegal aliens financial travel assistance and a stipend to return to their home country through the CBP Home App,” stated Secretary Kristi Noem. “This is the safest option for our law enforcement, aliens and is a 70% savings for US taxpayers. Download the CBP Home App TODAY and self-deport.”

In the end, the initiative would save taxpayers a lot of money since it costs around $17,121 to arrest, detain, and remove a single illegal alien.

The administration estimates the flights and stipend would cost the taxpayer $4,500.

DHS told Fox News that DHS will de-prioritize the illegal alien for an ICE arrest if they register to self-deport.

Paying them to leave is always going to be cheaper than giving them housing, food and everything else.

True, but I still object to having to expend any money on parasites. I would like to see potential punitive measures which are so bad that they self deport on their own dime. Also, make sanctuary cities should be responsible for covering costs to return their illegals, ouch..

The financial carrot may have to be greater than $1,000 per person.

We need to some actuaries to run numbers and determine the amount that will incentivize the most to self-deport ASAP!!!

No, this is all art of the deal. Start low and see how many bite at the low number before raising it. There’s no reason to offer more than you need to. It’s like giving out the VAX for free, until you run up against resistance, then you offer a donut, then a grocery coupon, etc.

Many of those who came illegally owe 10-20 thousand dollars to the gangs that brought them across the border. When they get back home, that $1,000 isn’t go to go too far.

Remember, you’re not paying the hooker for sex. You’re paying her to leave at the end.

Good idea, to add a small carrot to accompany tje larger stick in getting illegal Aliens out b/c incentives matter.

So sick of American taxpayers paying for everything.

These NGO’s should be held responsible, they made hundreds of billions of OUR money

Always the taxpayer gets screwed

There should be a campaign to convince illegals that we are about to make their ongoing presence a capital crime. I bet that would cause many to self deport at their own expense.

Just thi8nking… $1,000 will go a long way in some of those countries. And are we working in any way to ensure they actually get to keep that money?

This puts me immediately in mind of the airlines’ initial attempts at a loyalty program. They handed out discount vouchers, which were immediately confiscated by the finance department of whatever employer sent you on the trip. Since this did nothing to build customer loyalty, they went to a personal travel points program instead. But I’m thinking travel points is something you absolutely don’t want to give illegal immigrants, for fear they may use them to come back.

I might point out that *some* of the illegal aliens have been using fake SSNs and paying social security (which they had zero chance of collecting at retirement) It might provide additional incentive if the deportees agree to provide the fake identity they were using in return for getting a fraction (half or quarter) of the money they paid in, back upon being returned to their home country. This provides two bonuses. First, it identifies the numbers and methods people have been using to cheat the system, so the system can be made more difficult to cheat. Second, it gives a sizable club to smack the Left around with when they claim “Oh, there’s no fraud being conducted by illegal aliens.”

I’d rather pay for this than for Harvard.

If the illegal leaves before being caught, he can take any money he has accumulated with him, if he is deported all assets are forfeited to the government

Bill the home country for the cost of housing, feeding, and transporting the illegal alien while they were here.

On what grounds? How would you want the USA to respond were some foreign country to send it such a bill?

If the illegal alien self deports, they’ll be eligible to apply for a visa unless they are a repeat offender. Right now, the 3, 5 and 10 year bans are actually a deterrent to voluntary deportation.

Some good news. Here’s an immigration lawyer confessing that his tricks and massaging border patrol agents (maybe paying them off) aren’t working anymore. ICE is in control. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxF7LWP_Pow
