California Legislature May Be Assisting Newsom’s Attempt to Rebrand as a ‘Centrist’

Newsom breaks from California legislative Democrats bys supporting felony charges for those sex trafficking older teens. Expect more “push back” against the state’s crazed legislators through 2026, while he bitterly clings to political power.

The California legislature recently made some disturbing moves related to critical public safety issues.

To begin with, California Democrats on the Senate Public Safety Committee voted down a bill (SB 311) that would have prohibited male sex offenders, including those who identify as transgender women, from being housed in women’s prisons.

The bill, introduced by Republican Senator Shannon Grove, aimed to address concerns about the safety and privacy of female inmates following reports of assaults and other incidents involving male inmates transferred to women’s facilities under current California law.

Katy Grimes of the California Globe reported on the session in which this bill was shot down.

…[B]y the time the committee heard Senator Grove’s bill, they were unwilling to acknowledge that trans women (biological men), who request to transfer to women’s prisons, are putting female inmates in harms way. Women are abused, assaulted, raped, impregnated and given STDs in prison, Sen. Grove said.

But Democrats on the committee continued to place all blame on the CDCR guards and employees for prison sexual abuse cases, refusing to even acknowledge that some trans inmates are manipulating the system and severely sexually abusing and assaulting female inmates.

“This measure ensures the protection of biological women at birth in shared spaces such as sleeping quarters and restrooms, while also creating a dedicated facility where CDCR can better address the specific needs of transgender women,” Sen. Grove said about SB 311.

There are only a handful of requirements for male prisoners to transfer to women’s prisons as “transgender,” with gender affirming surgery not being among the requirements, the Globe reported recently.

The condescension and elitism just drip from California’s legislative Democrats. Women have no life-safety rights if they go against the progressive social justice agenda.

But there is more. Most Democrats in the California legislature apparently have no interest in protecting teens from sexual abuse either.

A recent legislative effort in California sought to make it a felony to purchase sex from 16- and 17-year-olds, expanding existing law that already makes it a felony to solicit sex from minors under 16.

Democratic Assemblymember Maggy Krell authored this proposal, but she faced resistance from within her own party, which resulted in the removal of the felony provision for older teens from the bill.

Current law allows the offense of soliciting a minor under the age of 16 for sex to be punishable as a misdemeanor or a felony on the first offense, which is known as a felony “wobbler,” and as a felony on subsequent offenses. State law also allows felony penalties for sex trafficking a minor under age 18.

AB 379 sought to build on existing state law by extending the “wobbler” felony charge to include solicitation of 16- and 17- year-olds on the first offense and a felony on subsequent offenses. The legislation also made it a misdemeanor to loiter with the intent to buy sex.

But on Tuesday, Democrats threatened to hold the legislation unless Assemblymember Maggy Krell (D-Sacramento), who introduced the bill, agreed to withdraw the felony charges for soliciting 16- and 17-year-olds. The bill moved forward without the increased punishment for soliciting older teens, which prompted Newsom to intervene and voice his support for the original legislation.

Why would a Democrat legislator offer a provision clearly unpopular with the party? To begin with, the political registration for Krell’s Sacrament district is more Republican (44.52%) than Democrat (28.49%).

But beyond that, these moves give presidential aspirant Gov. Gavin Newsom an opening to look centrist. He took advantage quickly by pushing back against the removal of the felony charges for soliciting teens.

Gov. Gavin Newsom is again intervening at the eleventh hour, issuing a statement moments before publication of this edition calling out Assembly Democrats for maneuvering this week to exclude older teenagers from an existing law that increases penalties on people who solicit minors for sex.

It’s another example of Newsom seizing on an opportunity to present himself as a common-sense Democrat, one willing to check his own party in Sacramento when he believes lawmakers have strayed too far left. His move will likely force Democratic leaders to backtrack on legislative amendments they pushed over moderate and Republican objections.

“The law should treat all sex predators who solicit minors the same — as a felony, regardless of the intended victim’s age,” Izzy Gardon, a Newsom spokesperson, said in a statement. “Full stop.”

I offer this as a warning: Don’t be surprised IF the California legislature provides a cascade of extreme progressive bills through 2026 for Newsom to rail against. It will be an attempt by the highly damaged Democratic Party to rebrand him as Clinton 2.0.

Few states would be improved by a meteor. California absolutely deserves one.

A massive class-action lawsuit by women inmates in Commiefornia who’ve been physically attacked and assaulted, sexually assaulted and otherwise abused by male trannies housed with the full knowledge and consent of the California Bureau of Prisons, and, indeed, Dhimmi-crat apparatchiks at the highest levels of state power, is the only thing that will change this evil policy of housing male trannies in women’s prisons.

Sovereign immunity will not attach in a case where the torts committed are the predictable result of a malicious policy and are the product of the State’s callous indifference towards the women’s plight. A judgment plus massive punitive damages awarded for grossly negligent state conduct and pain and suffering, will change things very quickly.

Not possible for newscum to re-brand as “centrist” at this point in his career. That didn’t work for kamala, it wouldn’t work for newscum.

aoc is a centrist when the msm says so

she’ll be called a proud defender of the second amendment when she needs that msm centrist push

either adults are going to control civility or the left will remain in charge

As to the headline, I say… “DUH!”
They are loyal members of the Progressive Church and will do as their bishops command concerning trying to get Hairgel into the White House.

Of course it’s all a sham. As president Newsom will reopen the federal grant spigot and enable activist controlled NGO’s to undermine federal, state and local laws

Newscum would flop outside the bubble of CA. He can’t “code talk” white voters, not any better than Walz that way.

Centrist, eh? That’s like calling Goering a centrist compared to Himmler.
