Ever since it became clear that Biden was aging out of his office disgracefully, I have observed California Governor Gavin Newsom clearly promote himself as a presidential aspirant.
In a recent post, I noted that the California legislature seems poised to assist Newsom in his efforts to rebrand himself as a centrist, essentially the new millennium’s Bill Clinton. The Assembly voted in support of appalling legislation removing felony charges for soliciting teens, which the governor quickly vetoed.
Trust me, there is a lot of lunacy that the state’s politicians can create and support. So this is a ready pathway for Newsom to generate some “centrist” bona fides to sell to the American people in 2028.
Now, Newsom has recently intensified his call for California cities and counties to ban homeless encampments, unveiling a model ordinance that local governments can adopt or modify. This move is paired with the release of $3.3 billion in voter-approved funds to expand housing and treatment options for homeless residents.
Newsom’s plan asks locals to prohibit persistent camping in one location and encampments that block sidewalks. It also requires local officials to attempt to offer shelter before removing a temporary dwelling.L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger celebrated the ordinance, saying it balanced public safety and compassion for homeless people.“The model ordinance provides local governments with clear guidelines while emphasizing outreach and services. This is a practical step forward in helping communities responsibly manage encampments and connect people to the support they need,” Barger said.
All throughout Deep Blue California, major cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Jose have already begun to clear encampments. San Francisco and San Jose have increased shelter capacity and enforcement, with San Jose considering arrests for those who repeatedly refuse shelter.
More details are emerging about San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan’s plan to arrest or hospitalize homeless people for refusing offers of shelter — and the city could create a police unit to do so.Mahan presented more details about his “Responsibility to Shelter” initiative Thursday, including expanding the city’s in-house homeless outreach efforts and establishing a new police unit to enforce it. Under the proposed policy, homeless people who decline offers of shelter three times within an 18-month period will be cited and arrested for trespassing. The policy is slated for discussion Monday, as part of the City Council’s budget hearings.
The media is touting this move with banner headlines. The New York Times, Politico, and all of the major media organizations are highlighting this bold strategy…despite the fact Newsom has been promising to end homelessness for over 20 years.
Which brings me to my next data point. During a Sirius podcast interview, long-lashed Democratic Congresswoman from Texas Jasmine Crockett pretty much indicated donors were lining up behind a safe white boy:
“No, for real. And to be clear, when we talk about them, I can tell you that there is one specific candidate,” the Texas lawmaker said. “I had a donor on the phone with me telling me that all the donors are lining up behind that candidate. So I can tell, and I tell you, it’s not a Black person, nor a woman, OK?”
Newsom has run and reigned as a progressive ever since the earliest days of his career. It is clear the liberal entities now realize running an extreme leftist will end in failure.
Hence, the frenzied attempt to reshape the Newsom narrative while he still holds political power, which ends in November 2026, thanks to term limits.
However, the trouble with this plan is X.com, podcasts, and the complete set of receipts related to Newsom’s cascade of unending failures.
For example, Newsom’s climate cultism can be tied to the Great Los Angeles fire of January 2025. As of right now, it appears that only 31 rebuilding permits have been reissued…after those blazes incinerated 16,000 structures.
California’s failures can become your failures, too. Newsom has just been appointed co-chair of the US Climate Alliance, an organization consisting of like-minded governors with objectives such as upholding the insane Paris Agreement within their jurisdictions and net-zero “greenhouse gas” emissions and no later than 2050.
Consider this post a prophecy of things to come. Given Newsom’s recent moves and media support, the Democrats may already be fielding their 2028 candidate.
