U.K. Leaders Plan to Approve Geoengineering Experiments To Dim Sunlight

The citizens of the United Kingdom (UK) are certainly going through a new Dark Age, much of it brought on by their choices.

Their leader is the absolutely horrendous Keir Starmer. Citizens can be tossed into jail for social media posts. Their electricity prices are soaring due to their leader’s green energy schemes.  Instead of the bubonic plague, there is now a notable increase in flesh-eating infections of the vulva that are hitting those who identify as women.

Well, the New Dark Ages are about to get darker. The UK government is poised to approve £50 million in funding for controlled solar geoengineering experiments within weeks, marking a significant step in exploring sunlight reflection methods (SRM) to mitigate global warming.

These initiatives, managed by the Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA), aim to gather real-world data on techniques that could temporarily cool the planet in the questionable effort to reduce the “global temperature“.

The Advanced Research and Invention Agency (Aria) will announce the funded projects within weeks, making Britain one of the world’s biggest funders of geoengineering research.Professor Mark Symes, Aria’s programme director, confirmed there would be “small controlled outdoor experiments on particular approaches”.The controversial technology aims to reflect sunlight back into space, potentially providing a temporary brake on rising global temperatures while emissions reduction efforts continue.

Like the “Make Sunsets” start-up that is now being targeted by the the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which is, which is actually interested in protecting the environment, ARIA’s approach includes releasing reflective particles (such as sulphate or calcite) into the upper atmosphere to mimic the cooling effect of volcanic eruptions.

Other techniques include cloud brightening and cloud seeding.

In recent decades, experts noticed that the clouds above shipping routes were far brighter than usual, as pollution caused them to become more reflective, bringing an overall dimming effect. This cooling from shipping fumes was so marked that when international regulations were enacted to curb sulphur dioxide emissions in 2020, it caused a spike in global warming, scientists believe.Prof Jim Haywood, of Atmospheric Science at the University of Exeter, said: “If you inject small particles into clouds you can brighten them, hence reflecting more sunlight back out to space….Other ideas for geoengineering include seeding cirrus clouds to allow more heat to escape into space. Currently, the wispy high-altitude clouds act as a blanket, trapping in heat.

Not everyone is happy about the news. Interestingly, a study from Rutgers University found that suddenly halting so-called ‘solar geoengineering’ could have severe impacts on climate.

The stoppage would drastically accelerate climate change, with severe consequences for the planet’s wildlife, researchers said.’Rapid warming after stopping geoengineering would be a huge threat to the natural environment and biodiversity,’ study coauthor Professor Alan Robock said.’If geoengineering ever stopped abruptly, it would be devastating, so you would have to be sure that it could be stopped gradually, and it is easy to think of scenarios that would prevent that.’Imagine large droughts or floods around the world that could be blamed on geoengineering, and demands that it stop. Can we ever risk that?’

In fact, more than 190 scientists recently issued a joint statement characterizing solar radiation modification (SRM)—also known as solar geoengineering—as a “dangerous distraction” from real climate solutions, likening it to “treating cancer with aspirin.”

I suspect the move is not going to be popular with non-scientists in the United Kingdom either. “Public consultations” are planned for later this year.

UK Research and Innovation plans to conduct nationwide public consultations in late 2025, addressing ethical and social concerns. However, environmental organizations have already questioned whether public input will meaningfully influence research trajectories already in motion.

Of course, as those living in the British Isles can be imprisoned for non-approved texts, I am sure those “consultations” will be meaningless. The eco-activist bureaucrats will go ahead, squander the money, and be heedless of the consequences.

One last note: As I discuss the Dark Ages, please check out Dr. Matthew Wielicki’s piece on how the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change hid the Medieval Warm Period.

This erasure isn’t accidental. The IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) minimizes the MWP, often describing it as a regional or modest climate fluctuation… not a globally significant phase. This vague framing allows them to avoid confronting the wide body of peer-reviewed evidence showing synchronized warming across both hemispheres, a conclusion that undermines the entire premise of modern warming being “unprecedented.”

At least in the original Dark Ages, England was a merry old place to be.
