Florida State University: 2 Killed, Suspect is Son of a Deputy
The school told students to take shelter.

The police announced the shooter killed two people, not believed to be students.
The shooter is the son of a deputy.
BREAKING: Police say the suspect in the FSU shooting is 20-year-old Phoenix Ikner, the son of a Leon County, FL Sheriff’s deputy. Police say he “unfortunately” had access to her gun, and the gun was used in the shooting.

A Tallahassee police spokesperson confirmed officers have one person in custody.

According to WKMG, a local hospital confirmed it is treating victims.
Tallahassee Memorial said it has six patients. One person is in critical condition. The others are in serious condition.

Shooter is the son of local sheriff and was an active participant in the youth outreach program. Good gravy. One of the weapon’s used (the handgun) was a duty weapon of the sheriff.

That’s sure a poor source. From the lack of context, it’s unclear whether he was a supporter of SDS or a criticizer. Was he talking about the SDS when he mentioned “these people” who are always fun to watch but a negative influence? It sure sounds that way.

Ruh-roh. Local Orlando media is reporting there were TWO shooters, one dead, one in custody. Five dead, four or more injured.
FNC is reporting only one shooter (who’s in custody) and only two dead. FWIW, WFTV 9 (local Orlando station) continues to report as of this writing, two shooters and no less than five dead. No scheduled presser until 1600.
One thing you can trust, the first news reports will be wrong.
It may be tomorrow before we even get an idea of what went on.
WFTV has now scrubbed their reporting of any information on both death count and number of shooters, make of that what you will. It sounds like we could fortunately be looking at a lower death count incident.

Only within those ‘gun free zones’ where responsible Adult Citizens are prevented from the means of easily defending themselves or others against the murderous minded folks who ignored the rules about a ‘gun free zone’.
Does Florida have a “safe storage” law? I don’t believe so, but if they do, pillory that cop.
Cops are responsible for the greatest percentage of “my kid or his friend got hold of my gun” incidents than any other class of gun owner. Which is why they are almost always exempted from these laws, proving that it’s not about saving kids’ lives, it’s about harassing civilian gun owners.
If you’re going to be a campus shooter please at least direct your lead towards the Hamasniks since nothing important to society will be lost if you’re accurate.
A good place to start would be the faculty lounge.

He was wearing an orange t-shirt, khaki shorts and looked like ‘a normal college dude’, according to Heeter.
Acknowledging eye-witness accounts are frequently comically wrong particularly in high-stress environments, it’s worth noting that the video of shooter (taken from long distance) shows a male shooter wearing green shorts and what I would describe as a maroon or dark red shirt who has dark hair.

That shooter closely resembles the video circulating of the wounded person in shackles a bunch of cops are loading into an ambulance.
A comment under that link, and what I read elsewhere, say there were two shooters.

There are various problems with having smaller weaker people responsible for lethal equipment.
It seems no credible information about the shooter’s motive is currently available. There is lots of non-credible information, however.
