Sonya McKnight *ALSO* shot her estranged husband in 2019. Officials deemed it self-defense and cleared her of the charges.

A jury convicted Pennsylvania Judge Sonya M. McKnight, a magisterial judge in Dauphin County, of attempted homicide and aggravated assault.

They deliberated under two hours.

McKnight shot her ex-boyfriend Michael McCoy in his house as he slept a week after he told her to get out.

McCoy survived and testified at the trial.

From PennLive.com:

Although her lawyer asked to have her released, Dauphin County sheriff’s deputies took McKnight, 55, into custody in handcuffs to take her to Dauphin County Prison, the same place she sent many defendants from her magisterial district judge office in her nine years on the bench.

As she walked out of the courtroom, past McCoy, he stared at her as McKnight looked straight ahead.

She was deemed a flight risk. Her bail was set at $3 million.
Sentencing will be May 28. McKnight could face 30 to 60 years in prison.

She will later be transported to SCI Muncy, where she will serve her state sentence in the only state prison that houses women.

Let’s see.

Angry black woman – check
Violent – check
Homicidal – check
Repeat offender – check

Conclusion: Obvious democrat district court judge material

Important Takeaway:

Donning the black robe of a judgeship does not mean that your heart is pure, that your thinking is above reproach. You’re just another human being, and possibly one who is evil.

The former judge cannot possibly be guilty of this crime — she is a woman “of color” and beyond reproach.

I can imagine lawyers salivating over the possibility of reopening every case this judge has ever decided, based on her apparent anger management issues.

Eh. It’s not that type of judge. MDJs are elected. They’re not required to be lawyers, but they have to attend a week or two of judge school. They do preliminary hearings, landlord/tenant stuff, small claims, and traffic tickets. All of which can be appealed to a Court of Common Pleas (what most people would think of as a real) judge.
