Gavin Newsom Admits He Has No Plan to Address Unfairness of Male Athletes in Female Sports
“We were trying to figure this out, and couldn’t figure it out. And that’s my point of view—that I just couldn’t figure out how to, quote, unquote, make this fair.”
A month ago, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) raised eyebrows with comments he made about what he called the “unfairness” of transgender athletes competing in women’s sports.
“Well, I think it’s an issue of fairness. I completely agree with you on that. It is an issue of fairness. It’s deeply unfair,” he told conservative influencer Charlie Kirk on the inaugural episode of the Gavin Newsom podcast.
It was a point he reiterated throughout their back and forth, with Newsom also noting that it was one of those “80/20” issues Democrats were “getting crushed on.”
It was a clear attempt at trying to make himself appear more moderate on the issue than he actually is – perhaps with 2028 considerations in mind. But he told the Los Angeles Times a few weeks later, after taking heat from LGBTQ activists, that he said it because Kirk put him under pressure to say something:
The governor said the moment happened organically after Kirk “pushed so hard” on the topic and referenced a California transgender high school athlete who beat their competitors by 8 feet in the triple jump.
“And then asked me, ‘Tell me, that’s not fair?’ And I looked at him, I said, ‘You’re right. That’s not,’” Newsom said. “And so it wasn’t some grand design. And I know, I know that hurt a lot of people. But respectfully, I just disagree with those on the other side of this.”
And just days after the Times interview, and in the context of California Democrat lawmakers torpedoing two Republican-backed bills in committee that addressed the issue of transgender athletes in women’s sports, Newsom admitted he had no plan to deal with what he labeled as the “unfairness” of women having to compete against men because he couldn’t find a way to make it “fair” for both sides:
Asked about bills voted down in committee the day before in the California Legislature to keep biological males from competing in women’s sports, Newsom said: “I didn’t pay any attention to the committee yesterday.”
He then said he doesn’t have any policy proposal in mind regarding transgender athletes. “We tried to figure out how to balance this. Is there a way to make this work?” Newsom said of the competing interests at play. “We literally were talking to some International Olympic Committee experts … We were trying to figure this out, and couldn’t figure it out. And that’s my point of view—that I just couldn’t figure out how to, quote, unquote, make this fair.”
This is an issue that could dog Newsom in a 2028 Democratic primary and general election—raising questions not only about his ideology but his authenticity and fortitude.
Right after that, Newsom shifted to talking about how the LGBTQ community has no bigger ally than him.

This isn’t a hard thing to rectify at all. But because Newsom wants to have it both ways on this, his way of getting out of it is to stick with the California status quo on so-called transgender rights, ostensibly because he can’t figure out a way to make it work for transgender athletes and female athletes.
Right.
This is otherwise known as the coward’s way out, and come 2028, Republicans shouldn’t hesitate to remind voters of Newsom’s dismal track record in the event he tries to straddle the fence once again.

Trans people make up less than .5% of all human beings. There is a barely a handful of trans people engaged in sports.
You dismiss the science that shows that the brains of trans people resemble that of their perceived gender. Of course, you people also can’t be bothered to accept the decades of science that shows humans exist with XXY, XXXY, and other combinations of sex chromosomes. Instead, you push a ridiculous, debunked view that humans only have XX and XY chromosomes with all humans being female and male accordingly, even though we know that people who’re born XX cannot process estrogen and present as male. Similarly, there are XY individuals who can’t process testosterone and present as female.
This is another example of conservatives finding some marginalized group to hate and fear to win votes. Black people one day. Latinos the next. Drag queens follow with trans people. Immigrants are now up.
Amazing how the immigrant hate now is the same kind of hate that Eastern and Southern Europeans experienced. But their descendants were able to become white and take up the sword of white supremacy to hate others like their people once were.
Wash. Rinse. Wash. Repeat. Hate.

Find another alleged “victim” group to promote. Rational and sane people don’t support narcissistic, misogynistic and attention-seeking men invading girls’ and women’s sports and private spaces, for their own self-aggrandizement, nor, the indoctrination, manipulation, abuse and mutilation of children and teens, in service to “trans” ideology.
When the tranny phenomenon was confined to homosexual cabaret shows, it wasn’t a problem. But, vile, stupid and totalitarian Dhimmi-crats such as yourself are now attempting to foist this evil ideology upon everyone and everything in society.
So if there are so few men in womens’ sports, let’s just ban males in womens’ sports and move on with our days. If it’s not an issue like you claim then what’s the big deal about banning it?

Wolfie, a step by step discussion of your points. Trans perhaps were 0.5% at one time but that numbers seems higher now to pushing this idea on younger people. As mentioned, brain does not win sports, body does. Yes., there are assorted chromosomal variants out there. I’ve care for several of them. You make your greatest error when you appoint hate and fear as to the motivation of all those who disagree with you. Yes, some do, but not all. And you still don’t address women’s sports, which is the topic. We can look at folks genotype, their phenotype, but to let their neurotype (what they think their sex is) seems the least fair way to let them compete against others in a physical competition
Trans people are either male or female and doctors can’t change that fact..if they want to play sports then they should take a genetic test to determine what sports teams they play on. XX means they play on women’s teams, otherwise the play on men’s teams.
Trans people can pretend to be men or women,, but that doesn’t make it so. Men who pretend to be women should play be treated as men by society and women who pretend to be men should be treated as women.
Generally speaking, it’s probably not a wise strategy to lecture normal people about intolerance while being blatantly intolerant of normal people. The only thing that’s even remotely true in your statement is the fact that the trans population is minuscule. Even with woke allies, they simply do not have the political clout to oppress normal women and get away with it much longer. But we do enjoy all the histrionic whining by the progressives about it, it’s a sign we are definitely making progress.
You can be unfair to 50% of the population, or unfair to 0.5% of the population. Newsome chooses to be unfair to the 50%.
The so-called “transgender” athlete issue is somewhat distinct from the broader “trans” issues because, as far as I can see, these loser males wanting to compete in girls’ sports are not the ones getting their dicks lopped off, they are merely cosplaying until such time as they get the scholarships and college money they are aiming at.

I’ve spent most of life in competitive sports as a player, coach, official, and administrator. You have only two choices to solve this problem:
1. Kick males out of women’s sport (Good Idea!).
2. End women’s sports.
You cannot mix sexes in sports unless it’s computer gaming, and that is even a stretch. Please get a clue RH.

I’m not the only one suggesting a third category: other. As in men’s, women’s, and other’s. Men’s means you have to be XY, women’s means you ~cannot have~ a Y chromosome. Other’s is anything you want it to be.
