Republicans Retain Florida House Seats Vacated by Waltz, Gaetz

The Republicans should be able to keep control of the seats.

Voters in Florida’s First and Sixth Congressional Districts went to the polls to decide the seats vacated by Republicans Matt Gaetz and Michael Waltz.

It should not be difficult for the GOP to hold onto the seats, allowing the party to keep control of the House with the little breathing room it has.

The polls closed at 7 PM ET.

From PBS:

In the 1st Congressional District, Republican Jimmy Patronis and Democrat Gay Valimont are running to replace Gaetz. Patronis is the state’s chief financial officer. He received President Donald Trump’s endorsement in the crowded 10-person primary. Valimont is a gun control activist. She challenged Gaetz for the seat in November and received 34 percent of the vote.

In Waltz’s old 6th Congressional District, the candidates are Republican state Sen. Randy Fine and Democrat Josh Weil, a public school educator in Osceola County. Fine represents a Brevard County-based state Senate district located outside the boundaries of the Palm Coast-area U.S. House seat he hopes to fill. He won three-way primary on Jan. 28 with Trump’s endorsement.

The Democrats poured money into these races, out-raising both Republican candidates:

Both Patronis and Fine have been outspent and outraised by their Democratic opponents, Gay Valimont in District 1 and Josh Weil in District 6.

Valimont has raised about $6.5 million according to fundraising reports, versus Patronis’ $2.1 million. Weil has raised $9 million for his race, compared to about $1 million raised by Fine, according to his campaign contributions report.

President Donald Trump endorsed both men today:

Jimmy Patronis, Chief Financial Officer and Fire Marshall for the Great State of Florida, is running an incredible Campaign for Congress in Florida’s 1st Congressional District! A fourth generation Floridian from the beautiful Panhandle, and owner of an iconic seafood restaurant, Jimmy has been a wonderful friend to me, and to MAGA. As your next Congressman, Jimmy will fight hard alongside of me to Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes, Secure our Border, Stop Migrant Crime, Strengthen our Brave Military/Vets, Restore American Energy DOMINANCE, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment.

America First Patriot Randy Fine is running to represent the Wonderful People of Florida’s 6th Congressional District! A highly successful, Harvard educated businessman, and greatly respected State Legislator, Randy has been a tremendous Voice for MAGA. In Congress, Randy will be an incredible fighter, who will work tirelessly with me to Strengthen our Economy, Lower Taxes, Secure the Border, Champion our Military/Vets, Ensure American Energy DOMINANCE, Protect our always under siege Second Amendment, and Advance PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH.

UPDATE at 7:12 PM EDT: Decision Desk HQ called the race in Fl-06 for Randy Fine

UPDATE at 8:01 PM EDT: Decision Desk HQ called the race in FL-01 for Jimmy Patronis.

I expect the Dems to pour money into this race like water, and try every single underhanded trick they can to squeeze out votes. If this were a Dem state, they’d win in a landslide of fake votes and fraud even if the Republicans outnumbered them by huge numbers. Their pipeline of taxpayer dollars into their pockets is threatened, and they’re going to stop at nothing to get that pipeline patched.

I live in the Walz district. It was closer than it should have been. April election s are not on everyone’s radar unless there is a huge marketing campaign.

If Schimel wins it will not only
Make heads explode, it will show how much people resonate with DOGE, Elon and Pressler. On the ground and getting R’s to the polls. 🤞

Excellent. One down, one potentially rigged race to go.

Well, at least we keep control of the house. For now, though if the Wisconsin Supreme Court has their way that won’t be the case. You know damn well they’re going to gerrymander that crap out of that map
