CNN Sounds Alarm: GOP Surging with Working-Class Voters

“The Democrats, long seen as the party of the people? No more.”

CNN’s top polling analyst Harry Enten is sounding the alarm—not for Republicans, but for Democrats. In a recent segment that surprised many, including Enten himself, Enten broke down polling data that paints a surprisingly strong picture for the GOP heading into the 2026 midterm elections.

“This, to me, is the most shocking piece of polling data I’ve seen this year—maybe ever,” Enten said. “Look at this: ‘Cares more for the needs of people like you.’ We’ve got a tie between Democrats and Republicans—even after this whole tariff war has already started. That’s surprising because in prior years, Democrats always led on this question.”

According to a post-tariff Quinnipiac poll, Democrats and Republicans are now tied at 33% on the question of which party “cares more for the needs of people like you”—a dramatic shift after more than three decades of Democratic dominance on the issue. Enten added context to just how historic these numbers are, “Back in 2017, before the midterms, Democrats led by 13 points. In 2005, it was a 23-point lead. Even in 1994—a big year for Republicans—Democrats led by 19,” Enten noted. “Now? A tie. The Democrats, long seen as the party of the people? No more.”

Enten also highlighted a worrying trend for Democrats among non-college voters, a group that had recently leaned left on the generic ballot. That shift, he said, was key to Trump’s 2024 victory—and now Democrats lead among that group by just one point.

While Enten didn’t make any firm predictions, his tone was unusually blunt: “If Democrats think they have a guaranteed ticket back to control of the House, I’d say hold on a second. Republicans still have a real shot—despite all of Trump’s theatrics around tariffs in the last month.”

With public opinion at historic lows, Democrats could be heading toward a midterm letdown.

When in fact was the DNC ever for the little guy? Not when did they claim.

Dems really don’t have much to worry about. They still own all of media, news rooms, Hollywood, the entertainment industry, academia, unions, corporate boards, state and federal bureaucracies, virtually all women under 40 and most of Congress (when you include RINOs as Dems).

This is just a bump in the road for Dems.

While I do not disagree, the electoral landscape is going through a significant change with political migration away from CA, NY, IL, MA & other D states towards R states primarily in the south. These shifts could be long standing changes for the electoral college

He’s so out of touch.

Working Class Americans have long understood, through personal experience, how globalization has ruined American manufacturing and devastated towns across the heartland.

NAFTA, WTO, China having “most favored nation” status, the “de minimus” tariff loophole, etc, etc, etc.

For coastal elites, they gave no clue. For workers with shuttered factories and hollowed out towns – Trump’s tariffs are, finally, a glimmer of hope.

The liberation from the d/prog hive mind is spreading. As folks see others walk away it becomes more acceptable for them to do so. Same with dumping the globalist/neocon paradigm to replace it with policies that put the economic prosperity and security of the broad US middle-class first. The folks that benefit from globalist/neocon policies will do and say just about anything to ensure the system that benefits them remains in place.

“According to a post-tariff Quinnipiac poll, Democrats and Republicans are now tied at 33% on the question of which party “cares more for the needs of people like you”—a dramatic shift after more than three decades of Democratic dominance on the issue. ”

Donald Trump beat Kamala on that in every poll during the general election.

Republicans do not have to maintain/exceed that question from the year 2012 it has to do at least as well or better than 2024.

Being tied is not good news.

“the question of which party “cares more for the needs of people like you”

Count how many people in the USA are NOT transsexual Hamas-loving arsonists who want to steal women’s athletic trophies, and the question pretty much answers itself.

It’s very odd. The government grift, waste and overburdening regulations are not popular with anyone yet the Dems are going hard for all of these. Do they think there are enough people out there who love expensive big government that doesn’t do anything for them to put Dems back in the WH especially after watching millions of illegals be bussed, flown and welcomed into the US then given SSN, welfare, housing etc while Americans struggled? A Dem party that repeatedly claimed nothing could be done without new regulations and laws then Trump’s elected and it stops. People aren’t stupid.

People aren’t stupid? I beg to differ. Half the population is under 100 IQ. How many don’t get any news except from late night TV, comedy central, or TikTok?

People who claim to be aware of what is going on are also very parochial about their source of news. I’m always accused of either accessing the wrong news sources or an insufficient wide variety of sources. While there may be some merits to this argument there is no way I’m going to trust broadcast news, most print sources, CNN, etc… They
have proven themselves to be half stupid, half biased, and half untrustworthy,

I would say many over generous, unearned or plain old grifter govt programs are very loved by those who get them and the overly emotional,.easily manipulated folks who support them.

What’s going on is more and more folks figuring out they are the ‘mark’ and getting .PO at going to work, sometimes to multiple jobs to live worse than the prior generation while others get govt rent, govt phones, govt food, govt programs of all kinds to.support their grifting neighbors and the lefty Karen bureaucrats that administer these programs.

Its interesting that the Left and the antiTrumpers are placing so much reliance on negative reactions to tariffs and the stock market.

At least half the country has nothing invested in the markets, and tariffs haven’t raised prices discernably. Indeed, in most places (not the left coast) gas prices and egg prices have dropped appreciably.

And Trump’s promises to cut taxes on Social Security, tips and overtime are absolutely pocketbook issues for that same demographic of working class voters.

And please… no arguments about how a (not actually tanking) tanking stock market effects everything downstream. Not relevant to how people perceive things.

    That was funny . Unintentional.

    1) The tariffs haven’t even kicked in yet . LAFFRIOT
    2) the no taxes on tips, SS, and OT are just typical of THE MORON’s lies, directed at goober uninformed redhats. HE has no ability to o any of those things, Congress does. And he knows they won’t.

CNN is like all of MSM a DNC tool. Their polls tilt heavy for the Dems so if they are reading it even then the actual number is high Republican.

I gave up on MSM news (including Fox) back during the 2020 election night when I saw the election with Trump way ahead and then it stopped across the nation at the same time in all states. A few hours later it started up again all across the country with Biden ahead just by very little in swing states but with no time to count and the MSM indicated Biden won. To me this showed it was stolen and all MSM (and Fox) were aware and nothing we get from them is the truth.

At. Least the Dems have captured the votes of the men who pretend to be women and the women who pretend to be men.

People are so stupid.

Who was it that told us that the Democrats were the party of the working class?

Democrats.

Just like the party of slavery, of Jim Crow, of segregation told–and continues telling us– that they are the champions of civil rights.

They tell us that there was a ‘switch’ after the CRA, when all the racist Democrats decided to up and join the party that had been fighting them since it’s inception –a lie that is easily revealed by anyone who takes the mere seconds to look at the makeup of congress in the 60s and 70s can easily see.

And yet, the lie is what’s accepted. The truth is treated like madness..

The plantation owners, slavemasters, New England elites, union bosses et al have never been the party of the working class, or civil rights, or free speech.

They are the party that has always sought power and control over the unwilling.

It is time to end the lies that have colored our civilization.
