Trump Critic Mark Carney Voted Canada’s New Prime Minister

Trump Critic Mark Carney Voted Canada’s New Prime Minister

The next election is scheduled for October 20, 2025. However, Carney could call a snap election.

Canada’s Liberal Party voted former Central Bank Governor of Canada and President Donald Trump critic Mark Carney as the new prime minister.

From Fox News:

The new Liberal leader told members that they should be prepared to fight “the most important election of our lives” where the “stakes have never been higher.”

He said Canada is the “greatest country in the world and now our neighbors want to take us. No way,” said the incoming Canadian prime minister, referring to President Donald Trump’s repeated desire for the U.S. to annex Canada as the “51st state.”

When Trump announced his tariffs against Canada last month, Carney issued a statement that “Canada will not bow down to a bully. We won’t stand by as illegal U.S. tariffs hurt our workers and their families. As Canadians, we need to face this challenge as one united team.”

The next election is scheduled for October 20, 2025.

However, Carney could call a snap election.

Former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau prorogued Parliament in January, keeping them out until March 24.

The Cabinet and others demanded Trudeau recall Parliament for an emergency session after Trump announced tariffs.

From Rebel News:

Despite pleas from the opposition regarding the trade war, Trudeau refused to recall Parliament for an emergency session. Cabinet cautioned the trade war could kill over a million Canadian jobs, with economists predicting at least two years of economic stagnation.

“Our goal remains to get these tariffs, all tariffs, removed,” he said last Wednesday.

The Conservatives think their leader, Pierre Poilievre, has a chance to take over since Canadians are tired of the Liberal government.

But Trump’s threat over tariffs might have ended Poilievre’s chances.

A recent poll from Nanos Research shows “Canadians believe in Carney (40%) over the Conservatives (26%) to negotiate an end to tariffs with Trump.”

Don’t be surprised if Carney calls for a snap election. With tempers up over the possible tariffs, the Liberals could possibly win again.

As time goes on, especially if Trump keeps delaying the tariffs, the Conservatives chances go up. People would remember the true Carney.

But, they didn’t. In the 2021 elections, LCP (Trudeau’s party) only received 32.62% of the vote. At 33.74%, the Conservatives actually received the plurality of all votes. But, because of the weird nature of their Parliamentary system, Trudeau could leverage their totals with what is essentially the French/Quebec separatist party to gain total control of the government.

A month ago, Trudeau and LCP were as popular as Athlete’s feet with Poilievre set to win 45%+ of the total vote which would have easily made him PM. For reasons only known to Donald Trump, he decided to announce significant tariffs on Canada well in advance of their elections. Canadians predictably had a nationalist response to the tariffs, particularly the talk about statehood and reflexively turned to what they perceived as Trump’s natural enemy: LCP. So for the next 5-years (at least), Canada is going to have a leader who is comfortably to left of Trudeau. This was a giant and inexplicable miscalculation on Trump’s part.

I agree with they didn’t but they “didn’t” because there wasn’t a federal election. This was the choice of the Liberal Party now in control. The next federal election will , I think, be this October. That being said, I have no special faith in the Canadian electoral system or the discretion of the Canadian people. So, this October, is when they’ll do it to themselves again. Really hard and painfully. No romance, not even a dinner and a movie.

The election is due by October, but it’s up to Carney when to call it, and he will do it at the time that he thinks gives him the best chance. Since Trump has turned so many Canadians against the USA and against the Tories, Carney will probably call the election as soon as possible.

You are assuming Poilievre would somehow be better that Trudeau or Carney. I am old enough to remember how a few years ago American conservatives cheered the resounding victory of BoJo and the Conservative Party in the UK. How did that work out?

And the debacles in Iraq and Afghanistan should have taught the US the dangers of trying to directly manipulate elections and leadership in other countries. Maybe – just maybe! – it’s time to put American interests first and let the chips fall where they may. If Canadians want to vote as though the boogeyman Trump was lurking under their beds then they deserve what they will get. You cannot fix stupid, and it is a fool’s errand to even try.

Agreed with almost everything, except this:

But, because of the weird nature of their Parliamentary system, Trudeau could leverage their totals with what is essentially the French/Quebec separatist party to gain total control of the government.

There’s nothing weird about it. The US Congress works the same way. The party with the most votes doesn’t necessarily get the most seats. It depends where your votes are. In principle you can get a House majority with 25% of the vote, by getting a bare majority in 218 seats and none at all anywhere else.

The US doesn’t have formal third parties with their supporters concentrated enough in a few areas so they can win seats. But we almost had that in Reagan’s first term when the Boll Weevil Democrats acted almost like such a party, and made common cause with the Republicans to pass a lot of Reagan’s legislation. Had they formally split from the Democrats and supported Bob Michel for speaker, that would have been the same as Trudeau’s majority.

I think Carney has a big ego and that if he messes with Trump, he will in the end be very sorry. More popcorn.

It would be so advantageous for Canada to join our country, but we shouldn’t ever consider that. No joke, it would be like adding another California or two.. That country is filled with NASTY libtards and an abundance of corruption in their government. They would NEVER vote Conservatively and many consider it a badge of honour to submit to those dictating to them.

They take what President Trump says so seriously! Having lived there for over a dozen years, mostly in the summer, we found many good people, but the liberals beat up on the Conservatives mercilessly and their taxes are insane! We are taxed too much but not as horribly as the Canadians, and their health care is abominable.

Meet the new clown; same as the old clown?

“Canada is the “greatest country in the world and now our neighbors want to take us. No way,”

It’s rather amazing that people just don’t get Trump. It’s not difficult to decode (perhaps we should send Carney a Super Secret Trump Decoder Ring (Don’t forget to drink your ovaltine!) to help him out). Trump almost always begins with a hyperbolic proclamation that riles up his opponents combined with an absurd offer no one would accept.

Trump doesn’t want to annex, invade or otherwise absorb Canada.

What he wants is for Canada to 1) stop the flow of drugs over the U.S. border, 2) eliminate tariffs on U.S. goods, 3) pay their fair share to NATO and 4) get rid of that putz Fidel Castro, Jr.

Point #4 has been achieved. Now on to the other three.

Little Castro was a WEF turd. So is this new guy. So is that awful beastly woman who used to be Finance Minister. She’s a real insufferable piece of work. She gives Her Royal Thighness a run for her money. The liberal party is garbage. So is that party aligned with them headed by a Sikh,

The problem is the Parliamentary system unfortunately. While there are elements I like you could end up voting for a rep you like but at the same time advancing the party head, a turd like little Castro towards the Premiership.

We had better back off…they have Neil Young and Buffy St Marie, and are not afraid to use them!

But Trump’s threat over tariffs might have ended Poilievre’s chances.

A recent poll from Nanos Research shows “Canadians believe in Carney (40%) over the Conservatives (26%) to negotiate an end to tariffs with Trump.”

If accurate the poll says a lot about many Canadian voters – and it ain’t flattering. Nearly as I can tell Canada does not have the problem with massive voting fraud that deep blue areas of the US suffer from. If Canadians are determined to virtue-signal themselves to death at the ballot box, then ultimately there is no way to stop them.

TBF: I would not put a lot of faith in Poilievre to keep Canada from sinking into the totalitarian swamp. The Canadian election seems to be turning on which candidate public can profess their hatred of Trump the loudest, so I have low expectations (measured in nanometers) for whomever wins.

The Canadian election reminds me of how not that long ago Democrat Communist Party politicians were licking Putin’s jackbooks and promising a “reboot” in US-Russia relations. Then suddenly and without warning Putin became Worse Than Hitler (TM) and everyone who disagreed with sending gobs of money to the Forever War in Ukraine was a Putin asset. Voters who can be easily swayed by constant claims that foreign boogeymen are lurking under every bed are ultimately not serious.

Canada has gotten away with tipping trade in their favor for a long time, now they feel entitled, much like welfare recipients. We are cutting off their perks, they will get over it.

Carney talks tough right now, but he’s like a low-level Mafia street associate with a big mouth and even bigger ambition to take on the Boss of the Family.

It never ends well for the street associate. Capisce?
