Reports: Syria’s Jihadist Regime Massacres Arab-Muslim Alawites, Possibly Others

Syria’s new Islamist regime has been accused of massacring hundreds of civilians belonging to the Arab-Muslim Alawite minority — including women and children, as clashes erupt in the civil war-ravaged country. There are reports of Christians and other groups being massacred, but as of this writing those are unconfirmed.
Fighters loyal to Syria’s self-designated ‘interim’ leader, Ahmed al Shara (formerly known as Abu Mohammad al Jolani), reportedly went on a killing spree in the country’s western provinces, targeting Alawite Muslims, who are regarded as supporters of the country’s deposed dictator, Bashar al-Assad. “Over 330 civilians from Syria’s Alawite minority have reportedly been killed in reprisals carried out by troops loyal to the country’s transitional government,” Germany’s DW TV reported.
Clips circulating on social media allegedly show the Syrian regime forces humiliating, torturing, and killing civilians. “Several videos published on social media and the Telegram messaging service show armed men – some in uniform – humiliating civilians, making them crawl or bark like dogs, as well as summary executions and blood-covered corpses lying on roadsides,” French newspaper Le Monde reported Sunday.

A Syria war monitor reported on Saturday that 340 Alawite civilians have been killed in recent days by the security forces and their allies, as authorities clash with militants loyal to the former government of Bashar al-Assad.
Restoring security has been one of the most complex tasks for Syria’s new authorities, installed after Islamist-led forces ousted Assad in a lightning offensive in December. (…)
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Saturday that “340 Alawite civilians were killed in the coastal regions of Syria and the Latakia mountains by security forces and allied groups” since then.
The Observatory indicated they were killed in “executions” carried out by security personnel or pro-government fighters and accompanied by “looting of homes and properties”.

Amid reports of mass killings by the Islamist regime, Syria’s Muslim Alawites minority is pleading for Israel to intervene. “Syria’s Alawites appeal to Israel as violence intensifies,” the YNET said in a separate report.
Weeks after the fall of Assad, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) created a buffer zone in Syria’s southern Golan Heights. The Israeli military presence in the south is seen by the local non-Muslim Druze population as a guarantor of security against the jihadist ruling in Damaskus, with many in the community urging Jerusalem to annex the area.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz vowed to secure the country’s northern border with Syria as the jihadist regime in Damaskus goes after the rival factions and ethnic minorities.
The Jerusalem Post reported the defense minister’s remarks:
Defense Minister Israel Katz commented on Syria’s interim President, Ahmed al-Sharaa’s fight against an insurgency by fighters from Bashar al-Assad’s Alawite sect in the western part of the country in a post on X/Twitter.
“Al-Julani took off his galabiya, put on a suit, and presented a moderate facade. Now, he has removed the mask, revealing his true face: a jihadist terrorist from the Al-Qaeda school, committing atrocities against the Alawite civilian population,” Katz said.
“Israel will defend itself against any threat from Syria. We will remain in the security zones and Mount Hermon and protect the communities of the Golan and Galilee.
“We will ensure that southern Syria remains demilitarized and free of threats, and we will protect the local Druze population – anyone who harms them will face our response,” Katz concluded.
In early December 2023, the Iran-backed Bashar al-Assad regime collapsed in the face of a surprise offensive launched by the jihadist fighters belonging to the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), an internationally designated terrorist group. Ahmed al Shara-led HTS forces managed to capture the Syrian capital of Damaskus and large parts of the country’s northern and western provinces in quick succession. Since taking power, the Al Shara regime has been trying to bring the rest of Syria under its control. Its biggest rival, the ethnic Kurd forces, holds most of eastern Syria.

They weren’t killed by Jews so expect crickets from the left, the UN & NGOs.
Muslim on muslim killing – Don’t care. Only the Druze should be protected because they have no animosity towards Israel and Israeli Druze have served in IDF with distinction.
IDF has been getting more Muslim volunteers. To the dismay of the Muslim political parties. From what I’ve read the IDF has also been using Bedouins as trackers in the Negev for some time.
Mistake to let them join although they may have no choice. Consider Nadal Hassan. He was even born on this country but that meant nothing.
Mideast borders have never been stable. If the Alawites and Druze want to join Israel, I won’t complain.

Ironic, as the Assad regime–no friend of Israel–was dominated by the Alawites.
Similarly, why would one be surprised that the group that most benefited from the murderous Assad regime gets murdered in return?
Muslim minority sect appeals to Israeli Jews for protection against Muslim majority sect’s violence and predations — but, don’t look for European, leftist and American Dhimmi-crat media organs to cover this story.
As with black-on-black homicides and violence in the U.S., internecine Muslim violence and atrocities don’t serve the left’s preferred narratives and agenda.
