Report: Kamala Harris ‘Seriously’ Contemplating a California Gubernatorial Run

“Harris aides note she has long been intrigued by the idea of being the chief executive of the fifth-largest economy in the world and the first Black woman to be governor in America.”

Twice-failed Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris’ name has been periodically popping up in the news since her Election Day drubbing.

First, there were the numerous reports about her myriad campaign spending issues—including pay-to-play questions and desperate post-election fundraising that turned donors off. After that were her visits to the areas in California impacted by the Palisades wildfires.

Heavily sprinkled into all that has been predictable media fawning over her winning the Chairman’s Award at the NAACP Image Awards last month, as well as rampant speculation from Democrats and Republicans alike on whether she’d throw her hat into the ring for a 2026 Golden State gubernatorial run or run for president in 2028 in what would be her third attempt.

As Legal Insurrection previously documented, the former vice president has told those close to her that she was “not going quietly into the night” after losing to Donald Trump in November. What that means specifically is anyone’s guess, but fresh reporting indicates that as time has gone on, she has been “seriously” contemplating a run for governor:

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is seriously considering a run for governor of California — and has given herself a deadline to decide.

At a pre-Oscars party last weekend, Harris was asked by another partygoer when she would make a decision about jumping into the California governor’s race. She gave a definitive answer, according to two people with knowledge of the conversation: the end of the summer.

Further, it was also reported that Harris was “intrigued” in part by the possibility that she could be the first black female governor in United States history:

Harris aides note she has long been intrigued by the idea of being the chief executive of the fifth-largest economy in the world and the first Black woman to be governor in America.

That, of course, would assume an awful lot if true—namely, that Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears (R) will not win her bid to become governor later this year.

In addition to the possibility of a Kamala Harris gubernatorial campaign, there have been several other politicos who have already either declared their intentions to run or are said to be biding their time to see if Harris does indeed jump into the race, including former Rep. Katie Porter:

Former U.S. Rep. Katie Porter, D-Calif., is considering a run for California governor. Other Democrats who have announced their candidacies are former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis, former California state Senate Leader Toni Atkins, state schools superintendent Tony Thurmond and the state’s former comptroller, Betty Yee. Most if not all these contenders, however, probably would bow out if Harris runs, Politico reported.

The primary is June 2, 2026. The first and second-place vote-getters would face each other that November.

Harris needs to run in order to have access to large sums of money and a luxury lifestyle from misspending campaign funds.

Not only do I think she should do it, I’ll donate to her campaign.

If the goal here is to convert California to a functioning two-party state that is functional and free of corruption, then the clearest path to victory for a reform mined Republican is to have this horse’s (you know what) on the D ticket.

Join me in both donating and going long on stocks in vodka manufacturing.

You can achieve the same effect by just lighting your money on fire.

You misunderstand. The money is only to make sure she’s on the ballot. Once achieved, no more.

Then again, I temporarily forgot that California primaries are so jungled-up that the final ballot will still consist of two (possibly three) Democrats and nobody else.

Don’t waste your money. I seriously doubt she will make the final two ballot. There are lots of ambitious Democrats in California who are much better politicians then her, and she is likely to get beat by 1 or 2 of them. A better use of your money will be to help any Republican make the final 2..

Her objective is to be the black ‘inseminated person’ Governor? How nice. Not about fixing the state, not about the hollowing out of its middle class, forest mismanagement, water issues, perpetual homelessness, etc.

Nope, as usual, it’s all about HER (assuming that’s still her pronoun). We fled CA four years ago, but I feel sorry for my friends still there. Unbelievably though, I think some of them continue to vote democrat.

As a candidate to be the “first Black woman to be governor in America”, I am eager to hear what her position will be on paying the reparations folks who, so far, have been stiffed by the state. However, as an Asian descendant of a Jamaican slave owner from one of the wealthiest suburbs in Canada, she may not be eager to tell us.

She is black?

Like California’s residents don’t have enough problems already.

Go for it. The result will be a giant slum that will be walled off by bordering states.

I would wager that California is stupid enough to put her there.

“Report: Kamala Harris Seriously Contemplating Cal Guv Run”

… and I’m planning my own backyard moonshot using only a large bottle rocked and a sheep skin condom.

If Leftifornia elects her, they deserve her.

Is she looking to be a Nixon? Lost as VP in 60 to JFK, Lost to Brown for CA Gov. in 62, President in 68?

Stranger things have happened, but it would be a disaster for Calif. in 2026 and for America 6 years later.

Musk should offer to make her the first black woman on Mars and send her up on the next Starship launch.

Just when you think California couldn’t get any worse, along comes Kamala.

Kamala Harris and “Serious” should never be used in the same sentence even if the serious is quoted. She is an idiot and anyone voting for her is a bigger idiot.

She is fresh as week old leftover fish.

Michael Johnson | March 9, 2025 at 2:32 pm

After what Newsom has done to the state. will even Californians vote for someone even stupider and less serious? And that’s a hard hurdle to get under.

henrybowman | March 9, 2025 at 2:37 pm

Tiresomely reminiscent of any of a dozen movies about the washed up boxer entering middle age, whose life consists of visiting promoter after promoter, begging for one more chance to prove himself in the ring.

Culturally she’s white. She’s just stupid, in the clueless sort of way.

CA under one party rule. Newscum or kamala. Flip a coin either way you lose.

She becomes gov and set for another run for president in 4 years! If the Dems care too much about race to reject her for a second run.

The sad thing is that she would probably win in California.

Hell NO!! She’s a fraud through and through,

Turning into a tan version of Hilary. Sad. Sure she is a fellow traveler in the cultural marxist transformation of our society and a whore, but I feel kind of sorry for her.

Has she seriously considered switching from vodka to tequila? As Susan Sarandon and so many other “stars” who “earned” their careers can tell you, it just does not last forever.

KaMaLaLa’s best days were well before Dull Joe “found her”. I seriously wonder if she could function in the role of Clerk of the Court, in Kentucky.

Kamala has run as a black, an asian and a white. Unfortunately for her, she will have to find some hispanic blood in her to win California without Newsom’s charm, looks and money.

Reportedly, Willie Brown is considering a run, but he’s concerned that Kamala would blow by him.
