Pelosi Pushes Senators to Defy Schumer: ‘Listen to the Women’

“Democratic senators should listen to the women. Appropriations leaders Rosa DeLauro and Patty Murray have eloquently presented the case that we must have a better choice.”

I smell a Democrat Civil War! To make it more delicious it’s over a spending bill that the Democrats loved and voted for last year!

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) slammed Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for voicing his yes vote for the continuing resolution (CR). Colleagues supposedly have been pushing her to primary Schumer.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries ignored a question about Schumer:

REPORTER: “Is it time for new leadership in the Senate?”

JEFFRIES: “Next question.”

The latest Democrat to go against Schumer? House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). She wrote on X, of course making it about sex:

Donald Trump and Elon Musk have offered the Congress a false choice between a government shutdown or a blank check that makes a devastating assault on the well-being of working families across America.

Let’s be clear: neither is a good option for the American people. But this false choice that some are buying instead of fighting is unacceptable.

I salute Leader Hakeem Jeffries for his courageous rejection of this false choice, and I am proud of my colleagues in the House Democratic Caucus for their overwhelming vote against this bill.

Democratic senators should listen to the women. Appropriations leaders Rosa DeLauro and Patty Murray have eloquently presented the case that we must have a better choice: a four-week funding extension to keep government open and negotiate a bipartisan agreement.

America has experienced a Trump shutdown before – but this damaging legislation only makes matters worse. Democrats must not buy into this false choice. We must fight back for a better way. Listen to the women, For The People.

As I wrote earlier, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) reminded everyone, CR is a “Continuation of the Biden-Schumer-Johnson 2024 spending agenda for the first 9 months of Trump’s presidency.”

I also find it funny that they’re attacking Schumer.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) said he would vote for the CR if the House approved it.

Schumer’s New York colleague Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand sounds like she will vote for the CR or at least to break the filibuster.

Hey Pelosi can you define what a woman is? Do that first and then we will listen to your opinions.

We’ve had enough of listening to liberal women.

    Pelosi, STFU
    Harris, STFU
    Cortez, STFU
    Waters, STFU

Take your emotions back home, have a bottle of whine and cheese, and just STFU already.

Scooterjay walks up to Chuck U, rattling a can of spray paint.
Schumer sneers then snarks “What is with the paint?” to which Scooterjay replies “To save yourself some time while you paint yourself into a corner.”

Listen to the women? Yeah because that’s worked so well before.

Judging by The View, or groups of women at, say, a restaurant, how can one listen to the women when they are all talking at once?

It cost them the last election, so maybe rethink that strategy?

It’s women like Pelosi who make me think that ratifying the 19th Amendment was not a good idea after all.

It wasn’t. Women either vote just like their husbands or against their interests. It’s redundant at best, anti-social at worst.

Frankly I would rather see a 28th amendment than an un-winnable attack on the 19th.

I would like to see the vote in Federal Elections be limited to people DO NOT receive certain forms of financial assistance.

I’m not talking about people receiving medicare or social security benefits but rather people receiving food assistance or welfare for, say, five years consecutively. They have no interest in the game except to vote themselves more benefits.

I recognize that this would have to survive a disparate impact adjudication and would likely fall at that hurdle.

The problem with this is that the next time democrats are in office they’ll change the system so that everyone they don’t want to vote suddenly receives those things and gets disqualified.

Lisa Simpson: Grandpa, didn’t you ever wonder why you got a check in the mail every month for doing nothing?

Grandpa Simpson: I just thought the democrats were back in power.

I would always call my ex into the TV room when I knew that segment was going to play.

We win with either a government shutdown or not. Regardless, Dems get another black eye.

Meanwhile, Trump’s administration will continue our agenda.

IMO, this CR is more of a draw. It buys some time and breathing space for Trump Admin and GoP HoR and Senate to get a legislative agenda moving but at the price of keeping the Biden/Schumer FY24 budget in place for the next 6 months.

We can afford six more months of “Biden’s” budget.

I don’t want to get bogged down in budget battles until the bigger fish are fried. Wade into the budget swap and nothing else will get done. Worse, it will expose the fact that most Republicans in the Congress are still greedy little bastards. Every single one of them will want to use the Republican control to take home a nice piece – no- SLAB of pork, and boom! There go the savings, and pop! the pretense that (outside Trump and Musk) the Republicans care about helping the country outside personal districts.

Awesome advice from San Fran Nan! Vote down the CR and own the shutdown. I can’t think of a better outcome than Trump and Vought determining what federal functions are “essential.” My bet would be that keeping national parks open will be “essential” and it will be a rare paper pushing bureaucrat that Trump/Vought believe is essential. If private equity would take over the federal government, there’d be a 30% headcount reduction on day 1. The Democrats need to understand that most Americans have been through corporate restructurings and have zero sympathy for the coddled and inefficient federal workforce.

From what I have read, there were four female senators that voted for cloture. Cortez Masto, Gillibrand, Shaheen and Hassan. Guess Nancy;s shaming didn’t work on all of them.

Pickled Pig Pelosi needs to date an Imam and take a cherished walk along the riverside.

Because “listen to the women” has always worked out so well before.

The ONLY times I can think of it working were a couple of stories in the Old Testament where the men were too afraid to trust God as pertained to their enemies, and the women took care of things. And maybe Maggie Thatcher.
