Tesla Owners Continue to be Targeted in Western U.S.

Tesla Owners Continue to be Targeted in Western U.S.

“I am doing it so that people see the vandalism and are less likely to buy a Tesla, which will hurt our unelected dictator, Elon Musk.”

We’ve reported over the last few weeks about instances of Tesla showrooms facing protests, with some Tesla owners and prospective owners being flipped off and sworn at and told not to “buy swasticars” unless they want to be lumped in with a supposed coup-staging “Nazi” like Elon Musk.

In two particularly disturbing incidents, the same Tesla location in Salem, Oregon, was targeted twice, with the first incident reportedly being an act of arson and the second one being shots fired into the building.

Tesla owners in states like California have also faced threats, with some allegedly finding notes tied to bricks on their cars that read in part “no Nazis in America” and which also contained warnings of an “open season” on anyone who didn’t sell or trade their Teslas by a certain date.

One glaring common denominator in all of this is the fact that much of what we’re hearing about has taken place out west in liberal enclaves. It would appear there is a bit of “left eats left” action at play when one considers the left’s fondness for electric vehicles.

As evidence, we turn to Seattle NPR news station KUOW, which has talked to and heard from several Tesla owners who say they are “deeply conflicted” about owning the vehicle:

Hoffmeister owns a Tesla herself, but hers is dirty and has a bumper sticker saying, “I bought this before he was a fascist weirdo.”

Like many Seattleites, she’s deeply conflicted about owning the car: Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s full-throated support of Donald Trump, recent moves to downsize the federal government, and apparent Nazi gestures and jokes haven’t gone over well in this part of Washington state.

From replacing the brand’s logos with others to getting rid of the vehicles altogether, we heard from dozens of local drivers about how they’re navigating the politics of Tesla ownership in 2025.

[…]

…the city also has more Teslas per capita than any other American city except for San Francisco and Honolulu.

They also noted that they received an “untraceable email” from someone who claimed to be behind some of the acts of Tesla vandalism in one Seattle neighborhood:

“I keyed two of them (with a knife) and used spray paint on two more. I wear a mask so I do not show up on the Tesla security cameras. I am doing it so that people see the vandalism and are less likely to buy a Tesla, which will hurt our unelected dictator, Elon Musk,” they wrote.

Relatedly, videos are surfacing of Tesla owners who are out on the road being harassed in apparent road rage incidents where drivers are being flipped off by people driving in other vehicles:

Before the 2008 election, I was targeted on two different occasions while driving by other drivers who did not like my “Nobama” bumper sticker.  In one of them, a woman kept wildly weaving back and forth between lanes after getting in front of me, presumably to make sure I saw her Obama-Biden sticker. In the second incident, I firmly believe the guys in the vehicle were trying to run me off the road.

There is just no call for this type of behavior. At all. These Musk Derangement Syndrome sufferers are going to get someone hurt or worse if they don’t stop. And the even sadder part about it is that, depending on where it happens, there may be a soft on crime prosecutor who would try to get them off the hook.

On my old Impala I had the Obama “hearts” domestic terrorists sticker. No one would say boo to me. My ex wife takes it to Dunkies and this lady starts flipping out on her. I was so jealous that she got to deal with a looney left in RI and I didn’t. lol

What is the moral of all of this?

You can go from a liberal’s good side to their bad side quicker than you can blink an eye

I know what you’re going to say: “Liberal’s don’t have a good side.” Ha ha.

JR in reply to Paula. | March 6, 2025 at 6:17 pm

People on conservative web sites, including LI, have been vilifying electric vehicles for the past 10 years. This only changed when Musk, the biggest supporter of electric vehicles, endorsed Trump. So what do you expect?

Paula in reply to JR. | March 6, 2025 at 6:23 pm

      I’m not expecting.

Paddy M in reply to JR. | March 6, 2025 at 6:37 pm

Neither Stacey nor Paula posted anything about the efficacy of electric vehicles, so your lame attempt at a “whatabout!!111!” fails again, JR.

I’d ask you post some proof, but you’d probably fabricate a quote as you are wont to do.

Andy in reply to JR. | March 6, 2025 at 6:44 pm

I expect them to crawl under my prius and install a catalytic converter.

dannystaggers in reply to Andy. | March 7, 2025 at 11:21 am

The Prius is a hybrid? And as such, it has a gas engine and already has a catalytic converter. Don’t know much about much, do you?

Actually I know a lot about it. In these leftist hell holes, a fan favorite is for the homeless drugged out zombies to saw these out. The Prius is a saws-all go to.

A repair that runs into the thousands.

I guess you don’t know much about leftist hell holes, cars, nor sarcasm

Crawford in reply to JR. | March 6, 2025 at 6:52 pm

I still vilify battery-powered cars. They’re a stupid idea anywhere it gets cold, and the batteries die early and cost as much as an IC car to replace.

Dolce Far Niente in reply to JR. | March 6, 2025 at 7:34 pm

Wait, wut? Nobody on the right vilifies EVs, just EV mandates. Whether the cars are made by Tesla or Ford is immaterial.

Nobody thinks Teslas are good because Musk makes them and Musk is a Trump supporter; why do you invent these fantasies?

dannystaggers in reply to Dolce Far Niente. | March 7, 2025 at 11:17 am

No, Tesla’s are bad because Musk is a con man, one of the best con men to ever live, but a con man just the same. He only got serious when he bought a sinking Twitter.

DaveGinOly in reply to dannystaggers. | March 7, 2025 at 6:01 pm

Yes, a con man. Behind PayPal, Starlink, Starship, Falcon Nine, Falcon Heavy, Dragon, and Tesla.
That’s quite a record for a conman. More lift vehicles in the last 10 years than NASA in the last 30. We need more con men like him.

DaveGinOly in reply to dannystaggers. | March 7, 2025 at 6:23 pm

BTW, Trump’s a con man too. He promises this, that, and the other thing, The Left then moves heaven and earth to prevent him from doing this, that, and the other thing, then pronounces him a failure and labels him a con man for falsely convincing people he could actually do this, that, and the other thing. So it must be true.

      diver64 in reply to JR. | March 6, 2025 at 8:05 pm

I’ve never “vilified” electric cars. If you want to buy one, buy one. What I vilify is the government using my tax dollars to subsidize buying them and trying to force people into them against their will.

henrybowman in reply to JR. | March 6, 2025 at 9:09 pm

Electric vehicles are still stupid. Tobacco addicts you and then kills you. And yet, I’m against either of them being outlawed. If people want to buy them, so be it. I may or may not choose to deal with an industry if they turn out to be liars, like the tobacco industry was while I was growing up. But Musk doesn’t go around making Algore speeches to sell his product.

guyjones in reply to JR. | March 6, 2025 at 10:14 pm

You’re full of crap. Nobody here changed their tune on EV’s, after Musk’s support for #47. Criticizing EV’s while praising Musk’s contributions to freedom and to government transparency are not mutually exclusive concepts, as you posit.

I still think EV’s are a technologically inferior/outdated product and environmentally harmful. I also think Musk is a laudable figure. But, I don’t wish financial harm or insolvency on his companies.

Ironclaw in reply to JR. | March 6, 2025 at 11:27 pm

Don’t kid yourself, I still hate electric vehicles

Evil Otto in reply to JR. | March 7, 2025 at 5:56 am

Really, Captain Strawman? Can you name one commenter here who changed his/her view on EVs because of Musk? I’ve never wanted one but I couldn’t care less if someone else buys them. I’ve just opposed EV mandates, your Democrat masters’ push to ban internal combustion and force everyone to buy electrics.

You leftists, on the other hand, *do* change your beliefs based on the political views of others.

(Eh, it’s not like that hit-and-run troll will respond. He spits on the rug and then runs off.)

Paul in reply to Evil Otto. | March 7, 2025 at 8:09 am

Don’t feed the troll. The troll is an abject moron.

Dean Robinson in reply to Paul. | March 7, 2025 at 10:44 am

Correct, but they proliferate regardless, drawn by an insatiable need for rejection by normals. It’s a twisted way to feel significant by annoying others. Most of them show obvious emotional damage, though the ones who are being paid tend to be more coherent. They actually are interesting to observe as examples of how psychopathology has migrated to infest the opportunities created by new technologies,

dannystaggers in reply to Evil Otto. | March 7, 2025 at 11:12 am

Spits on your rug and runs? That’s a JEW.

dannystaggers in reply to JR. | March 7, 2025 at 11:25 am

I have never vilified EV’s, I only told you what they really are. If you put a Tesla in the water, the doors won’t open, that car will most certainly drown you. EV’s aren’t even safe and at any other time in history, they would be banned. That’s a simple fact.

healthguyfsu in reply to JR. | March 7, 2025 at 4:05 pm

Not vilified, mocked for impracticality And yet no vandalism or harassment…imagine that

These people are not liberals at all.

henrybowman in reply to Paula. | March 6, 2025 at 9:03 pm

    “Swasticars.”
And their side is breaking the shop windows.
It just doesn’t get more oblivious than that.

TrickyRicky in reply to Paula. | March 6, 2025 at 11:41 pm

Liberals are not liberal and have no bedrock ideals or morality.

F’g morons. I routinely boycott companies but I would never contemplate violence against a customer who makes a purchase from them. It takes a special kind of stupid to go so far.

I’d suggest arming the Teslas with automatic weapons and AI but of course that would be illegal. I envision calling that Model Q-Teslas. Pity.

I’d actually consider buying a Tesla if it was in my budget, and my condo would allow me to install a charging station. It’s not and they won’t. They seem like cool cars.

Previously it was virtue signaling, now it has become virtue anti-signaling.

Crawford in reply to Dr S. | March 6, 2025 at 6:53 pm

They’re signaling their membership in the herd. I’ve seen actual sheep show more independence.

Dejectedhead | March 6, 2025 at 6:04 pm

I wonder if I can get a Tesla at a discount now. My Fiat 500 electric vehicle can only go like 60 miles per charge. I need an upgrade!

    JohnSmith100 in reply to Dejectedhead. | March 6, 2025 at 6:31 pm

I am waiting for the price to decrease to the point that I came but one for less than the value of the battery pack, and the both charge from a charging station and drawing from the care battery when solar production was low.

I saw one person using commercial EV charging stations to bring power to his solar home to recharge home batteries.

Now there is no way that an EV could replace my diesel trucks.

    diver64 in reply to Dejectedhead. | March 6, 2025 at 8:07 pm

Wife is on her second Fiat 500 Sport with a 5 speed. 42mph and she loves it to drive back and forth to work. I’ve no idea why someone would buy an electric one with less than a 100 mile range. It isn’t really good for anything and apparently others agree as Fiat is discontinuing them.

    JohnSmith100 in reply to Dejectedhead. | March 6, 2025 at 8:12 pm

Fiat 500e uses a 24 kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a nominal voltage of 364 volts, Lithium is more prone to fires and 364V is dangerous to work with.

DaveGinOly in reply to Dejectedhead. | March 7, 2025 at 6:08 pm

Yeah, but the Fiat is easier to push the rest of the way to your destination.

2smartforlibs | March 6, 2025 at 6:16 pm

It sucks when your virtue signaling come back to bite you

If I could get a Tesla and quietly put an engine in it I would drive it just to bother these people who are so bothered by what other people bought with their money. Unfortunately my lifestyle and living situation doesn’t support an EV so I can’t get a Tesla.

lichau in reply to TopSecret. | March 6, 2025 at 10:31 pm

I saw a custom (hot rod) show where someone had done just that. Put a high performance V-8 in a Tesla. Why? “Asking that question shows you don’t understand hot rodding. To see if I could do it.”

There actually is a fair amount of the reverse going on. Taking 70’s/’80’s “classics” and retrofitting them to salvaged Tesla drive trains. I helped a guy for a while who was converting a BMw2002.

healthguyfsu in reply to TopSecret. | March 7, 2025 at 4:07 pm

And you could park it in charging spots lol

I live in California. Ask any body shop owner about cars that are keyed. Almost always they have a Trump sticker or some such. “Save the Whales”? Never.
I live in rural California. Trump country. You see a few Trump stickers. Usually on a vehicle that looks like it belongs to someone you don’t want to mess with. Often with a 2nd Amendment sticker next to it.

amatuerwrangler in reply to lichau. | March 7, 2025 at 12:59 am

Yes, for some reason those lefty enviro-lunatics who hate fossil fueled vehicles leave my Cummins-powered Ram alone, in spite of the “Blue Lives Matter” and “Army” stickers. They believe their own propaganda about us being Neanderthals, I guess…

henrybowman in reply to lichau. | March 7, 2025 at 5:10 pm

    Leftists and chicks.

I avoid bumper stickers, but once had a self-made sign in my SUV’s rear window. It was a photo of my Patriot Ordnance Factory AR-10, with the words “Come and take it.”

Up until that time, I was harassed by tailgaters who didn’t appreciate I was only doing 5 mph over the speed limit. After putting up the sign, tailgaters would come up on my bumper and then promptly retreat to a respectful distance. I found that very amusing.

nordic prince | March 7, 2025 at 12:35 am

All it takes to get on a leftist’s shitlist is to deviate a fraction of a degree from their “approved” narrative. Just ask JK Rowling.

Saw this bumper sticker on a spineless Tesla owner’s car at my local YMCA:

I BOUGHT THIS BEFORE WE KNEW ELON WAS CRAZY

First off, who is “we”? Second, crazy like a fox.

There’s nothing like putting a sticker on your car calling the smartest man alive crazy to illustrate how ignorant you are. Thankfully all your fellow drivers and your neighbors know this about you, too. Dang.

henrybowman in reply to Rufus. | March 7, 2025 at 5:12 pm

Idiot found a recipe to make keying his car attractive to EVERYBODY.

DaveGinOly in reply to Rufus. | March 7, 2025 at 6:18 pm

Only someone batshit crazy would decide that it should be normal to land a heavy booster rocket on “chopsticks” sticking out from a launch gantry. Only a genius could have the vision to make it happen.

Before the election the Democrats Propaganda Ministry told its followers Trump supporters were a cult. My mother a devoted watcher told me I was in one.
As with all Leftism, it’s projection.

dannystaggers | March 7, 2025 at 10:43 am

Obviously Liberals NEVER cared about clean air.

I am sure the big tax deduction had a lot to do with the purchases. I like the work Musk is doing to find the wasteful spending that brandon’s white house did over the last 4 years.
