Bill Maher to Meet President Trump at the White House as a Guest of Kid Rock

“Kid Rock was here a couple of weeks ago, and he said, ‘I want you to meet Trump.’ He said, ‘I’m gonna take you to the White House.’ So now we’re gonna do that”

Liberal TV host Bill Maher is going to go to the White House and meet Trump at a dinner that was apparently arranged by Kid Rock, a frequent guest on Maher’s show. Could this be a turning point?

Maher is no fan of Trump, though he has taken a slightly more muted approach recently than he did in Trump’s first term.

FOX News reports:

Bill Maher reveals he’s going to meet Trump at the White House

Liberal comedian Bill Maher will soon be meeting President Donald Trump at the White House, Fox News Digital has learned.

Maher revealed to fellow comedian Andrew Schulz that Maher agreed to Kid Rock’s offer to introduce him to his political foe, in an exchange that will air on Sunday’s installment of Maher’s “Club Random” podcast.

“Kid Rock was here a couple of weeks ago, and he said, ‘I want you to meet Trump.’ He said, ‘I’m gonna take you to the White House.’ So now we’re gonna do that,” Maher told Schulz.

Kid Rock was a guest on Maher’s HBO show “Real Time” last month and is a strong supporter of Trump. Maher has long been a fierce critic of Trump but has stood out among progressives with his criticism of so-called wokeism and calls to better understand Trump’s supporters.

Maher predicted liberals on the left will be angry about meeting with Trump, but he didn’t care.

“And there will be lots of people on the left who will be like, ‘How dare you talk to this man.’ It’s like f— you, I’m not playing this game that you mean girls play,” Maher said. “‘Oh, you know what? You can’t sit at my lunch table, because I’m just not talking to you.’ Not talking to you? You lost the election. Who the f— do you think you have to talk to?”

In this clip, Kid Rock describes to Glenn Beck why he is doing this. Watch:

This meeting is going to anger some Trump supporters and Bill Maher fans. Frankly, I think it’s a great idea and I hope Bill Maher comes away from the meeting with a slightly different outlook. Greg Gutfeld has often pointed out, correctly, that Trump makes a very different impression on people when they meet him in person.

I know Bill Maher has said some outrageous things about Trump over the years, and Trump has zinged Maher as well, but if they can have a cordial meeting with a mutual friend, maybe there is hope for the rest of us too.

Not only does Maher occasionally go against the leftist grain, but so does his audience.

This is a great idea.

Agreed. What an odd trio though.

Maher’s father was a news exec at WNBC in NYC. When litle Bill would visit Radio City, Imus and sidekick McCord would set him up with NBC page girls, according to their repeated story. as a tweak of his father. Anyway you’d expect little Bill to have a better sense of humor and be able to read the room better, in particular reading Trump.

Glad to see this happening. I don’t subscribe to HBO but I hope this will be viewable somewhere else.

I imagine that Trump will also meet with Stephen A. Smith.

That would probably be more genuine and interesting than this meeting.

I think while Bill is willing to call out when the left goes too far, he only does it to help the left.

I could see this being a positive for Trump who generally knows how to make the most of these situations, but not sure if Bill is going there to have genuine dialogue, but I suspect not.

    But we shall see …

Curiously, both sides are apoplectic about this on X. Of course that is situation normal for just about everything.

It’s all a plot to get Maher into the White House so Orange Man can sit him in his Pod People Machine!
