Trump Names Dan Bongino as Deputy Director of the FBI

President Donald Trump announced he chose Dan Bongino as the FBI’s deputy director:

Another aspect of the life of Dan Bongino that I think is very important. He has a great wife, Paula, and two wonderful daughters who truly love their dad. What an incredible job Dan will do!!!
Bongino’s podcast is popular among the conservative sphere. He also used to be a Fox News host.
Bongino has been outspoken about cleaning up the FBI. From RealClearPolitics:
On his podcast, Bongino has called the FBI’s raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in 2022 “a freakin’ disgrace” and “some third-world garbage,” and has repeatedly slammed the FBI’s role in investigating the Jan 6, 2021, Capitol Hill riots along with the FBI raids and arrests of participants. Bongino and Patel were also at the forefront of Trump’s 2020 election fraud claims.
Bongino detailed the FBI’s doctored surveillance requests and improper spying on a Trump campaign adviser in 2016 in his book, “Spygate,” one of four volumes he wrote on similar themes decrying the “deep state” plotters against Trump. On his podcasts and radio shows, Bongino engages in cultural combat in a bombastic style similar to Trump’s, repeatedly going after top FBI and CIA officials, including former CIA Director John Brennan, for what he characterized as their efforts to sabotage Trump’s first term and rig both the 2016 and 2020 elections against him.
In recent days, Bongino has said he is feeling “on fire” from all the changes the Trump administration is making and in “a celebratory moment that just never ends.”
“Kash is happening – it’s going down,” he said on his podcast Friday. “Reform is happening everywhere. It’s just the Golden Age of Republican politics via MAGA. Thank you, President Trump.”

James Carville is a wholly irrelevant Clintonista who hasn’t made an accurate or useful political prediction in this century.

It certainly does. Carville has some good points in among his rants. He was one of the first people to sound the alarm on the Biden WH and Biden’s reelection campaign in response to Trumps saying in regards to the Biden WH “someone better wake the $$$$ up over there”. Thankfully for America, no one did.
That foul mouthed old grouch isn’t worth paying attention to, except as comic relief.

I am not a gambler but if there is an outlet to makes bets on that I would place a large bet on Trump and consider it a sound fiscal investment.

This is a great choice! Finally some straight and HARD shooters at the FBI!! You don’t root out corruption by appointing Democrat soy boys to the FBI.
Or, cross-dressers with a huge collection of dossiers.
I’m puzzled myself. Why isn’t Bongino over at the Secret Service where he has much experience? He has been on them for several years, now.
One possibility:
Head of USSS is primarily a manager and logistics officer (though also needs to have leadership skills). I.e., running a large organization.
Bongino, on the other hand, is a fighter, rather than a manager. Highest and best use for him is to dig out, expose, and flay living the crooks inside the FBI (and those who directed such illegal activity). He also has a high enough public profile (and personal strength) that any bureaucratic attempt to intimidate him would likely backfire.
I view him as Patel’s “Mini Me,” who will do a lot of the skull crushing that Patel would like to do himself, but will not have the time because Patel still has to run the entire organization.
This, exactly. USSS is a defensive organization, designed to protect the President and other important officials. The FBI is an offensive organization (in more ways that one, but you get the idea) designed to ‘go after’ criminals. There are some contrary ‘flows’ to each agency, such as the USSS reaching out to investigate people before a visit, or the FBI’s counter-terrorism goal, but generally that’s the way they go.
Dan’s a ‘go after’ guy. He’ll do well.
That makes sense.
SS has just been incompetent. That is already being remedied. The FBI has been evil. That will take a lot longer to remedy and require much deeper cuts.

The most impressive thing about the administration is the sequence and timing of actions.
I’ve been saying since the ’90s that the FBI can’t be fixed, and needs to be dissolved and replaced with a new agency that will not be allowed to hire anyone who worked for the old one.
Who knows? This team may actually be able to fix it. At any rate I doubt anyone else could make a better attempt.

I think it needs a cleaning down to the bottom rungs. There are some good people in there but a whole lot especially on the 7th floor that need to be shown the door.

Should be interesting. The Deputy Director controls the day to day operation of the Bureau. We saw how this power could be misused with DD McCabe and his role in attacking Trump and his people with RussiaGate, and providing the excuse (from his attorney, Lisa Page) for not prosecuting Crooked Hillary for her thousands of crimes, many felonies, from her illegal use of her personal, insecure (and compromised), private email server to conduct official business as Sec of State.

I am puzzled by this appointment unless Trump wants to use Dan as the media interface. Dan is battling cancer but might be in remission, if I am not mistaken.
Dan Borgino is terrific. If he’s battling cancer, then prayers for him – he’s got the “on the ground” experience needed at these times. If the cancer is serious, hopefully, he’ll have a reliable and gutsy trainee with him.

Bongino is a tough, smart, no BS kind of guy. A great choice. He’ll do well.
I have a prediction based on past experience. Right now, Leftists organizations are picking through transcripts of every Bongino show ever aired, looking for out-of-context quotes, slips, gaffes, or failed predictions. They will boil this down to 10-15 soundbites and wave them in front of the media, then settle on whichever one sounds the worst.
Then, they will hammer that deceptive quote every five minutes on every radio program, the View, every web pop-up, every place they can get it run, and totally ignore the thousands of hours of context behind it.
Dan did hint that he had big news coming, I guess this is it?
Like Trump but to a lessor amount of money being in the millions not hundreds of millions, Dan is certainly not in this for the inflated bank account. This is one of the reasons people hate and fear Bongino, Patel, Trump, Musk etc as much as they do. None can be bought off with the grift DC is famous for and instead of climbing on the train are busy in pulling up the tracks.
