Trudeau Says Canada Will Secure Border, Trump Delays Tariffs for 30 Days
“In addition, Canada is making new commitments to appoint a Fentanyl Czar, we will list cartels as terrorists, ensure 24/7 eyes on the border, launch a Canada- U.S. Joint Strike Force to combat organized crime, fentanyl and money laundering.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he “had a good call” with President Donald Trump regarding the tariffs, border, and fentanyl.
Trudeau agreed to Trump’s demands.
Trump delayed tariffs for 30 days:
I just had a good call with President Trump. Canada is implementing our $1.3 billion border plan — reinforcing the border with new choppers, technology and personnel, enhanced coordination with our American partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl. Nearly 10,000 frontline personnel are and will be working on protecting the border.
In addition, Canada is making new commitments to appoint a Fentanyl Czar, we will list cartels as terrorists, ensure 24/7 eyes on the border, launch a Canada- U.S. Joint Strike Force to combat organized crime, fentanyl and money laundering. I have also signed a new intelligence directive on organized crime and fentanyl and we will be backing it with $200 million.
Proposed tariffs will be paused for at least 30 days while we work together.
It’s precious that Canada and Mexico think they’re economic powerhouses who can bully America.

Trump planned to slap Canada with 25% tariffs just as he did with Mexico.
Trump wrote on Truth Social:
Canada has agreed to ensure we have a secure Northern Border, and to finally end the deadly scourge of drugs like Fentanyl that have been pouring into our Country, killing hundreds of thousands of Americans, while destroying their families and communities all across our Country.
Canada will implement their $1.3 Billion Border plan, and as per Prime Minister Trudeau, will be, “reinforcing the Border with new choppers, technology and personnel, enhanced coordination with our American partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl. Nearly 10,000 frontline personnel are, and will be, working on protecting the Border. In addition, Canada is making new commitments to appoint a Fentanyl Czar, we will list cartels as terrorists, ensure 24/7 eyes on the Border, launch a Canada-U.S. Joint Strike Force to combat organized crime, fentanyl and money laundering. As President, it is my responsibility to ensure the safety of ALL Americans, and I am doing just that. I am very pleased with this initial outcome, and the Tariffs announced on Saturday will be paused for a 30 day period to see whether or not a final Economic deal with Canada can be structured. FAIRNESS FOR ALL!
Trump and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum also came to a similar agreement earlier this morning.
The tariffs would have gone into effect at 12:01 AM ET Tuesday.
No word from China, though, which will get hit with 10% tariffs.

Remember people, tariffs don’t work! 😂😂😂
Not ‘tariffs’ specifically.
What works is telling all the shitkicking little leftoid ‘leaders of countries demanding we bow down to them that we actually have power and leverage and are going to use it if they don’t start doing things that actually benefit us.
You make the mistake the left makes in not accepting the truth.
Tariffs work and they work because they are a tool to get a change of behaviour, which is exactly what happened here.
Embrace the power of “and.”
“the moron’ can’t keep his tariff stories straight.
Redhat ( finger in nose): ‘DUhhhh, tariffs all good, Trump said so…he’s a businessman”
Either tariffs are an inherently good and prosperity-generating policy that enriches America, or they are a threat to get other countries to do as Trump says. Both things can’t be true.
If the former, then why would Trump forgo all those billions of dollars that could be collected off Mexican imports simply because Mexico agreed to make a few small changes to how it polices the border? We were going to offset the income tax with tariffs, Trump promised. But now? Nah, Mexico’s president said she would make a few border guards work overtime, so we’ll just forget about that idea.
If the latter, then tariffs are something to be feared—a stick with which to compel the behavior of other, smaller countries—that comes with some pain for Americans, as Trump admitted in a post on Truth Social over the weekend. But if that’s what they are, and they can be removed as soon as those other countries comply with Trump’s wishes, then it seems like the tariffs were never intended to produce the prosperity that Trump promised.
Seriously, I need a cigarette.
And I don’t smoke.
Castreau must not have consulted big, bad Doug Ford who was ready to ruin Ontario’s economy to prove his OMB bona fides.
Still
We have millions upon millions of people, mainly young, cause the rest are dead, addicted to drugs
Miles and miles of human debris in every major city and not so major
This country has never had to deal with anything like this, not sure how we find our way back
Yes, blocking the sale of drugs, yet so many states allow drug use, especially MJ and worse
Don’t disagree.
Our great-grandparents had easy access to legal opium, morphine, cocaine and laudenum from any drugstore or the Sears Roebuck catalog, yet addiction was rare.
Why are we different now?
Soft kids with no coping skills.
People have no discipline anymore
Civil war vets were completely addicted and never recovered… died off.
it’s a destroyer of worlds.
Just like alcohol.
Wasn’t rare.
How about illegals importing or dealing drugs be a Federal capital crime. That would put an end to any repeat offenses.
“Still”
Trump scores a win, and you immediately ignore it to point out problems we’re already aware of. Do you take your car to the mechanic and then, right as he pops the hood scream “WHY HAVEN’T YOU FIXED THE PROBLEM YET?!?”
Need to keep the customs declaration requirement for packages in place no matter what IMO.
Huh.
Somebody here said America simply couldn’t get away with being a hemispheric bully, that all these countries would just resist Trump’s demands.
Who was that, do you think?
It was probably JR or one of his alter egos.
I think we all know who it was.
Can you say “GUNBOAT DIPLOMACY”, boys and girls?
Good! I knew you could.
Donald Trump can say it very, very clearly.
Best 1 day Trade War ever.
There is a new Alpha Male in the Western Hemisphere wolf pack, and the Mexicans, Canadians, Columbians, Venezuelans, and Panamanians have aleady figured out who it is…..but the Democrats and their Big Media stooges are still perplexed.
Have TDS induced heart attacks, strokes, and commitments peaked yet?
Looks like baby Castro met an Alpha Male and that was all she wrote. I had this conversation at work today. The boss was worried that the tariff’s were going to impact business and he would have to cut hours. I told him to hang on a minute, this won’t take long and an hour later there it was in the news.
Now that wasn’t so hard, was it?
I love the smell of winning.
Honestly I thought the market would be down like 5% this am on Tarriff panic….
I was ready to go on a buying spree. Dang it.
Now that wasn’t so hard, was it Justin?
“Canada is making new commitments to appoint a Fentanyl Czar”
Hallalujah! If s/he is half as good as our former Border Czar, we’ll all be eating that rainbow stew!
Yeah, I’d be a bit suspicious of anyone Baby Castro appointed.
And China strikes back by increasing tax on coal and gas imports from America by 15% 😂😂
That’s a great idea to increase tax on shit you need to lower your economy to keep the lights on in all those shiney new coal powered power stations 😂
This probably highlights the disparity in trade between the two countries really clearly! America doesn’t send much to China but the stuff that does go is critical to their economy!
‘the moron’s ‘ tariffs are continuing to be typical of all his ‘policies’ .
Not well thought out. Not vetted through anybody of substance- just Maga lackeys.
The ‘dumbest guy in the room’ prevails.
But heyyy cult- he’s a businessman , right? hahahahahah
The “new commitments” are either pointless or not new. Does anyone seriously believe that Canada’s appointing a fentanyl czar will make any measurable difference in drug overdose deaths? The Canadian government had already announced plans to better coordinate federal law enforcement efforts at the border, with a statement specifically mentioning organized crime, fentanyl, and money laundering, in January.

Poor little Junior Varsity — right up until the tanks roll over him, he’s going to be standing in the road screaming, “You won’t win just because you have tanks!”
