Ric Grenell Considering Running for Governor of California if Kamala Harris Runs

Trump friend and ally Ric Grenell is apparently considering a run for governor in California if Kamala Harris decides to run. This would be a race to watch.
As we have seen in recent weeks with the disastrous fires, California is a state in desperate need of new leadership. Grenell would be a fantastic choice.
Ric Grenell told reporters in Munich he would consider running for California governor if Kamala Harris enters the race, per pool.

Trump aide Ric Grenell threatens to run against Kamala Harris for California gov
President Trump’s envoy for special missions Ric Grenell said Friday that he’s considering running against Kamala Harris for California governor next year.
Grenell, 58, told reporters at the Munich Security Conference that he believes the former vice president is vulnerable if she attempts a political comeback after her blowout loss to Trump on Nov. 5.
“If Kamala Harris runs for governor, I believe that she has such baggage and hundreds of millions of dollars in educating the voters of how terrible she is, that it’s a new day in California, and that the Republican actually has a shot,” Grenell said.
“I wouldn’t say no” to running, he added.
It’s unclear if Grenell, who is well-known for trolling Democrats on social media, has taken any concrete steps toward exploring a campaign.
Golden State Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, is term-limited and filling his position has been discussed as a possible next-step for Harris, 60.
Harris has been elected statewide three times before — twice as California’s attorney general, in 2010 and 2014, and as US senator in 2016 — before carrying the state as the Democratic presidential nominee with 58.5% of the vote to Trump’s 38.3%.
Her closest statewide election was in 2010, when she took scored a narrow 46.1% victory over GOP attorney general nominee Steve Cooley at 45.3%.

This would not be the first time Grenell eyed a run in the state’s race. He previously expressed interest in challenging Newsom in 2021 in a recall election but later withdrew his name from the running right before the deadline.
Grenell has left a mark on California residents, particularly in Los Angeles, where his current role involves acting as Trump’s representative for the reconstruction of the city after the disastrous wildfires caused $250 billion in damage.
At the same time, Harris is not particularly popular in the state.

Could be a good thing. Ric is a smart man, maybe enough so that he could turn the Ca. Legislature to help him.
Despite fires, blackouts, massive unemployment fraud, homelessness, an insurance crisis, crazy high gas prices, failure to expand water storage and a train to nowhere, I’m afraid CA has not yet hit bottom. Until this happens it’s likely the democrats will have a lock on statewide offices. The state was nearing fiscal come-to-Jesus moment pre-Covid, but billions of dollars of funny money from the feds put off the reckoning.
He’d be wrong, California is lost
How long before the knife-fighters of the California Democrat Party(riffing on their treatment of Larry Elder) begin describing Grenell as ‘the male face of homophobia’?
I doubt that even the craziest of Democrats in Cali would go down that road. They would try and find a different angle.
CA Democrats nstituted the jungle primary to get a lock on the Governor’s mansion. Nevertheless, I’d vote for him all day every day and twice on Tuesday (yes, we can do that here.)
Hot on the heels of the disaster that was the 2024 Election and the fires in California that the Dems are screwing up the response to in such an epic way Grinell might have a chance especially if he demands debates early and often.
Who knows, kamala might just be an improvement over newsom. she just has to get the shoulder shuffle down.
