Report: Inside Trump’s 2024 Campaign Secret Security Measures Against Iran’s Threats
Axios reports on new book alleging extraordinary measures against Iranian assassination plans.

Iran’s 2024 assassination threat against Donald Trump was more serious than widely known, forcing his team to take extraordinary precautions, including a decoy plane. In an exclusive for Axios, Alex Isenstadt previews his upcoming book, Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power, revealing how these threats reshaped Trump’s campaign, security measures, and rhetoric—underscoring the ongoing fallout from his 2020 strike on Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.
More from the Axios exclusive:
- Law enforcement officials warned Trump last year that Tehran had placed operatives in the U.S. with access to surface-to-air missiles.
- Trump’s team feared the Iranians could try to down his easily recognizable personal jet—better known as “Trump Force One”—as it was taking off or landing.
- Concerns escalated after a foiled assassination attempt at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Sept. 15.
In one tense episode, now called the “Ghost Flight,” Trump’s security team arranged for him to travel on a decoy plane, fearing an attack from surface-to-air missiles—without most of his staff knowing.
- But at one point soon after the Florida incident, Trump’s security detail was concerned enough about the Iran threat that it had Trump travel to an event on a decoy plan owned by Steve Witkoff. He’s a Trump friend and real estate executive who’s now Trump’s envoy to the Middle East.
- “Much of Trump’s staff traveled on Trump Force One that day—infuriating some aides who worried they’d be ‘collateral damage’ if the jet were shot down.”
- “Co-campaign managers Susie Wiles—now White House chief of staff—and Chris LaCivita decided to split up. Wiles traveled on Witkoff’s plane with Trump, while LaCivita joined staffers on Trump Force One.”
- “Many aides on Trump’s jet didn’t learn about the hush-hush plan until just before takeoff, when they realized Trump’s window seat was empty.”
In another alarming moment, the Secret Service realized they were being followed in Pennsylvania.
- “During a trip to Pennsylvania the next week, Secret Service agents noticed a drone following Trump’s motorcade.””Officers in one of the cars opened up the moonroof and shot it with an electromagnetic gun, disabling it.”
Trump has been known for lashing out at Iran, saying only a few days ago he would “obliterate” them. With this new information coming to light, one can understand Trump’s anger towards the rogue country.

Who wants to spitball how they might have gotten in?
Who wants to spitball how they might have gotten in?
Umm, ahhh, well, umm, errr…….
I give up. How?
Let Israel take them out
How about crippling Iran. Use MOABs on Iranian military sites, destroy water storage and hydro, take our substations, destroy ports, refineries, wells, nuclear. Make them very sorry.
So, according to the article, the Trump team was concerned about an Iranian missile attack on Trump Force One, so they (a) sent him on a decoy jet to enure his safety, but (b) left his staffers to fly on the possible target Trump Force One without telling/warning them?
We are told that Pres. Trump is very loyal. If this article is true, I dunno about that.
Downvotes not deserved. If performed as described, this “involuntary decoy” maneuver lacks principle. I await reports from other sources confirming/clarifying what really happened.
Trump is going to play chess. He will pin them in a corner to force them to defecate or vacate the throne.
3D chess at that
I am sure that Secret Service calls the shots on this.
As in, “Here, shot, shot, shot! Here, shot!”…?
YouTuber in West Palm Beach follows when Trump motorcade is due coming from the airport to Mara Lago
He said there’s way way more security this time than last time
4 vehicles surrounding The Beast and all doing 65 mph through the streets. Used to go slow through there
Live in one of his family’s hotels. He visits occasionally, and spent the night a week ago. Security keeps getting cranked up. We had more USSS just in the lobby with the metal detectors, than they had, in their entirety at the Butler, PA campaign rally, where he was shot. That doesn’t include the dogs doing their sweeps through the hotel or in addition to the metal detectors in the lobby, or the bomb detection tent that all vehicles must go through (even the house cars with his name on the cars and plates – took 45 minutes for one to get through, despite Trump’s name on the car and personalized plates, and having been gone for only a half hour). Many expected him to leave through the lobby, as he has typically done in the past. Nope! Motorcade, with ambulance, multiple armored limos, etc exited through the garage, picking up the extensive police and fire escort as they turned right in front of the hotel, speeding away, with flashing lights and sirens.
I bet these are moderate Muslims.
They are. You should see the wacko ones.
