In Grotesque Spectacle, Hamas Hands Over Caskets Said to Include Hostage Shiri Bibas and Her Two Children

Israel’s Health Ministry official: Identifying the bodies “likely to take some time.”

Hamas on Wednesday handed over caskets apparently containing the remain of four Israeli hostages, identifying them as three members of the Bibas family: 33-year-old Shiri and her two little boys, Ariel (five-year-old ) and Kfir (nine-months-old); along with 83-year-old Oded Lifshitz.

“Israel has received, through the Red Cross, the coffins of four deceased hostages, the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed,” the Israeli news website YNET reported. “The coffins were handed over to the IDF and Shin Bet forces, inside the Gaza Strip, from where they will be transferred to Israel to the Ministry of Health’s National Center for Forensic Medicine.”

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged the release of bodies by the Gaza-based terrorist group, but did not name the supposedly dead hostages. “According to information communicated by the Red Cross, four caskets of deceased hostages were transferred to them, and they are being taken to IDF and ISA (Israel Security Agency) forces in the Gaza Strip,” the military said in a press release Wednesday morning.

While the remains handed over by the Gaza terrorists are yet to be identified, the news of the returning bodies led to a nationwide mourning.

“Dozens of residents of Kibbutz Nir Oz gathered under the pouring rain at Struggle Square in Kiryat Gat’s Karmei Gat neighborhood Thursday morning with sadness in their eyes,” the Jerusalem Post reported.” Though they have not talked about the murdered hostages being returned to Israel from Gaza until they are positively identified, the sense of sadness is felt everywhere.”

Israel’s Health Ministry: Identifying the bodies “likely to take some time”

The hostages families urged media outlets to exercise caution before rushing to conclusions about the fate of particularly captives. “The Bibas family indicated it would hold out until the remains are definitively identified,” the Israeli TV channel i24NEWS reported.

Depending the condition of the remains of the bodies, establishing the identity of the hostages could take days, an Israeli official said. “Health Minister Uriel Busso says that the process of identifying the bodies later today at the Abu Kabir forensic institute will be conducted carefully and is likely to take some time,” The Times of Israel reported citing Hebrew-language media. “He explains that the process is intended not only to identify the hostages but also to establish the cause of death, if possible.”

On the morning of October 7, 2023, Shiri and her two little re-haired boys, Ariel (four-year-old) and Kfir (barely nine-month-old), were abducted at gunpoint by Hamas terrorists from their home in Kibbutz Nir Oz.

“The video of Shiri trying to protect her two children with her hands, terror on her face as she was surrounded by many brutal terrorists, became a symbol of the kidnapping and haunted many mothers and everyone else,” the Israel Hayom newspaper recalled.

The children’s father, Yarden, gave himself up to Hamas in a desperate bid to save his wife and kids. An emaciated and broken Yarden was released earlier this month as part of the ongoing hostages-for-terrorist swap.

“Shiri (33) was seen in a video recorded on the day she was captured, surrounded by terrorists while holding Ariel (5) and Kfir, who was nine months old at the time they were abducted. The children were the youngest captives,” the i24NEWS noted. “The family’s father, Yarden, was kidnapped separately from them and released about three weeks ago.”

Oded Lifshitz, an 83-year-old peace activist, was abducted from his home in Kibbutz Nir Oz alongside his wife Yocheved. “Lifshitz and his wife Yocheved were taken hostage separately from their home in Kibbutz Nir Oz on the morning of the October 7 onslaught,” The Times of Israel reported. “Yocheved was freed on October 23, 2023, along with fellow captive Nurit Cooper, and was not held with Oded while in Gaza.”

Hamas, as during the recent hostage releases, organized a macabre ceremony for the handover of the bodies. A special stage was set up for the grotesque transfer. Dozens of masked Hamas terrorists, dressed in military fatigues, were spotted with their handheld cameras filming four black caskets as Islamic songs blared from the loudspeakers. It looked like a cheerful event for the people of Gaza, who brought their children to witness the depraved display.

“Hamas built a stage east of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip on Thursday ahead of the release of the four slain hostages, Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas, as well as Oded Lifshitz,” the Jerusalem Post observed. “On the backdrop of the stage was a banner in which the photos of Lifshitz, Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas appeared. Above them was an image of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu depicted as a vampire.”

Israel has a choice: It can continue to persecute this war in a way that minimizes criticism from the ‘international community,’ ceding its own sovereignty and safety to a collective of people that is predisposed to hate Jews, or it can see the neighboring Muslim savages for the existential threat that they are and respond accordingly. The currency of Islam is violence, always has been, always will be. Speak to them in their native language and deliver violence upon Gaza until the streets run red. Israel needs to find their Grant & and especially their Sherman before it’s too late.

Sadly, a good portion of Israel’s populace is leftist, and they think and behave in exactly the way one expects leftists to do.

IOW, they will argue and vote for their own destruction and that of their neighbors, as long as they can virtue signal in the meanwhile.

    Civil War history:
“Sherman led 62,000 troops on the celebrated “March to the Sea” from Atlanta to Savannah, GA. Separated from its supply bases and completely isolated from other Union forces, Sherman’s army cut a wide swath as it moved south through Georgia, living off the countryside, destroying railroads and supplies, reducing the war-making potential of the Confederacy, and bringing the war home to the Southern people. Sherman reached Savannah in time for Christmas and “presented” the city to Lincoln with 150 captured cannons and 25,000 bales of cotton.”

The reality of armed conflict is it will continue until the will of the adversarial people is broken. It’s not enough to destroy the army & navy of the enemy. You have to destroy the willingness of their people to keep supporting the war. Lincoln understood this. FDR understood this and – to their particular credit – Truman & Churchill understood this. During the bombing campaigns of German cities, American bombers flew at much lower altitudes, exposing themselves to much more effective of enemy fire, so that their munitions could be more accurately delivered, minimizing civilian casualties. Churchill didn’t care. He ordered British bombers to fly at maximum altitude. Collateral damage for him was the feature, not the bug. He knew the German people had to have the fight taken out of them, a lesson that wasn’t lost on Truman.

I’ve been saying for years that Israel needs to line up military armor and civilian construction equipment at the edge of Gaza, then slowly advance leaving behind nothing but a perfectly-graded parking lot.

There are no civilians in Gaza.

It is unfathomable to think that two innocent adults one elderly, and one the Mother of two 100% helpless infant and toddler were all brought to Hell on Earth by INHUMAN creatures.

The insane criminals who did this to ALL the Israeli people who were treated so INHUMANELY are 100% deserving of much worse than what they will soon be getting.

What’s that you say? There will soon be a treaty???
When have this group of brain dead thugs ever committed to a treaty? Let’s all count the days until we hear: “What treaty”…. “They did (use your imagination) such and such so we were justified!”

All of Gazan society is in on it. They have been all along.
This. And they should receive the justice they deserve.

So, who is the downvoter? Is moonmouth here but afraid to show his face? Or some Hamasnik trying to leave his mark?

When it comes down to it, for this people, I have moved from Luke 6:29 to Amos 5:24. And no concern trolling is going to make me change that position. I am daily praying that God’s justice roll down like waters on Gaza.

RB with you there … and then pump
those tunnels with Carbon Monoxide
and seal it ….

For a variety of reasons, I think seawater would be a better choice. Not only would it accomplish what CO would, it would significantly deter any future use of those tunnels. It would also make rebuilding that much more difficult.

What perplexes me is that flooding the tunnels with seawater was widely mentioned at the beginning, but then faded into traditional warfare.

IDF has employed the technique throughout the campaign. But, for reasons known only to them, they’ve done very judiciously, sparingly. I’m neither a civil engineer nor geologist. So, I’m uncertain if there are some concerns about polluting the water table which may be shared with Israel. Or, if they’ve restrained themselves out of deference to international blowback.

There’s your audience.

This is even worse than it appears.
Hamas put stickers on their coffins, including the two little boys, which gave their names and said they were ARRESTED on October 7th 2023 (pure jackassery).
Not only that, the coffins were locked and the keys turned over with them didn’t match (again, pure jackassery). IDF had to open them with a bomb unit to be safe.
These people are monsters.

Every mother is Shiri, but not Palestinian women..

There was a 5 million dollar reward for helping the refugees, no one stepped up. No one could be bribed to help a woman and her babies.

The dear babies, their mom, the appalling spectacle with their remains..

Scorched earth, then salt.

Words escape me, but I’ve got some real nasty thoughts.

What? No comments from Schumer, Sullivan, Blinken, Harris, Biden, and the Obamas? Nothing? I will never forgive the Biden and Obama administration holdovers for how they treat Israel, BiBi, and Jewish people. The progressives are evil.

The left and Hamas have the same end goal, the destruction of Israel.

The Lord can be vengeful

The second coming can not come soon enough

I wonder if this may now make Trump’s talk of rebuilding a big, beautiful Gaza for its people a non-starter?

I just read this and I’m sick. The behavior of the Gazan/Hamas civilians is incredibly barbaric. These need to be eliminated, along the lines of the post WWll denazification efforts.

For a start, all the hostages, or their relatives, should be given large “damages” payments from the frozen bank accounts of the well-known billionaire Hamas leaders.

Remove the hamas/fauxpestinian/mussleman/troglodytes dead or alive

The next time Hamas holds such a ceremony to return dead jews just napalm the crowd and then tell the international community to go F themselves if they don’t like it.

They should also return the arab murderers they are releasing in similar locked coffins. Return them alive but with limited air supplies.

Return them alive but with limited air supplies.
    Nice turnabout-is-fairplay.
Also, leave a few loose wires peeking out from a few of them. Just to worry folks.

Unfortunately if the Defense Minister were to give such an order the air force would refuse it, the so-called “Legal Advisor” would prosecute him, and the courts would throw him in prison for at least ten years. Israel is not a democracy, and hasn’t been for at least 30 years.

ztakddot in reply to Milhouse. | February 21, 2025 at 10:03 am

Correct. They have their own progressive problem. Socialists who ran the country at its inception and continue to cause problems. The judiciary may be the worse. Imagine our supreme court beholden to nobody and choosing their own successors.

This callous transfer of remains and the gruesome spectacle they created is hardening hearts against them in Israel and the USA. Is their hold on power in Gaza so shaky they did this to gin up internal support? It makes zero sense to have done it this way.

In the internet age the flow of information bypasses their lefty media allies. Any fair minded person sees this for what is; a gratuitously insulting way to cause more pain to the Families. They didn’t win any new converts and likely have PO the more sensible people within the region who understand how stupid this miscalculation is. Any whining about ‘innocents’ at risk in Gaza is gonna be taken far less seriously after this wanton display of deliberate cruelty before an adoring audience in Gaza.

I have a few good ideas on what to do to these creations, but they disappeared.

Milhouse in reply to CommoChief. | February 21, 2025 at 12:34 am

    1. They don’t care about foreigners’ hearts and minds. They have the support of their own people, so long as they keep feeding this flame. This was a victory rally that makes their public support them. If they appear weak their public will turn to other terrorists who appear stronger.

    2. The world will still yammer about innocents, and when you tell them there aren’t any they’ll have two answers:

First, they will refuse to believe that Hamas truly represents and has the support of the whole population; they’ll always insist it must be a minority.

And second they’ll say “What about the babies?” Even if you somehow convince them that everyone above the age of ten there is a bloodthirsty psychopath, even if you somehow convince them about five-year-old little nazis playing Kill the Jew in kindergarten, they’ll still cry about those too young to have been brainwashed.

The only good answer to that is that nobody cared about the German babies. We didn’t deliberately target them, but we didn’t cry when they died, and we didn’t change our policies or tactics to avoid killing them. And in Germany there really were a large number of innocent civilians who had never supported the Nazis, which is something that doesn’t exist in the Strip.

I am glad for the families to have closure. My prayers and heart go out to them.

FYI: The bodies of the two children have sadly been positively identified. The body represented to be that of the mother has been confirmed by IDF to NOT BE SHIRI BABAS. IDF has eliminated the body as belonging to any of the remaining missing hostages. So, for now, it’s an ‘anonymous’ body that could belong to anyone…probably not even Israeli.

Well our overlords sent plane loads of cash to Iran. This is where it went. Nice work.
