Europeans Join China, Russia, and Arab Regimes in Rejecting Trump’s Gaza Plan
Reuters: The “shock move” from the U.S. president was “swiftly condemned by international powers.

President Donald Trump’s proposal for the U.S. to take over Gaza and resettle its residents in neighboring Arab countries was met with sharp rejection by European countries, as well as Arab and Muslim states.
“The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too,” President Trump said at a White House news conference with visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday.

The U.S. would undertake the task of transforming the Gaza landscape by dismantling the explosives and terrorists infrastructure scattered across the Hamas-infested enclave. “We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site,” the president proposed.
He spoke of leveling “the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings. Level it out.”
President Trump also advanced the idea of bringing in investments that could improve the lives of people living in the region. “Create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area,” the president added. “Do a real job. Do something different.”
President Trump is right, it's time to move the people of Gaza into Jordan or Egypt.

President Trump proposal of “resettling Palestinians elsewhere has shattered U.S. policy on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and sparked widespread criticism,” Reuters reported.
The “shock move” from the U.S. president “was swiftly condemned by international powers, with regional heavyweight Saudi Arabia … rejecting the plan outright,” the news agency added.

Russia and China, leading U.S. adversaries, joined the European and Muslim states in commending the plan to transform Gaza in the wake of 15-month war resulting from Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel.
“Countries from Russia, China, Spain, Ireland and the UK said they continued to support the two-state solution that has formed the basis of Washington’s policy in the region for decades,” the news agency added.
The United Nations in its statement claimed that a resettlement plan, as suggested by the U.S. president, was “strictly prohibited.”
The Associated Press covered the global reaction:
President Donald Trump’s proposal that the United States “take over” the Gaza Strip and permanently resettle its Palestinian residents was swiftly rejected and denounced on Wednesday by American allies and adversaries alike. (…)
Following Trump’s remarks, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement stressing the need for rebuilding “without moving the Palestinians out of the Gaza Strip.”
Saudi Arabia, an important American ally, weighed in quickly on Trump’s expanded idea to take over the Gaza Strip in a sharply worded statement, noting that its long call for an independent Palestinian state was a “firm, steadfast and unwavering position.”
“The kingdom of Saudi Arabia also stresses what it had previously announced regarding its absolute rejection of infringement on the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, whether through Israeli settlement policies, annexation of Palestinian lands or efforts to displace the Palestinian people from their land,” the statement said.
Similarly, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese told reporters in Canberra, Australia, that his country has long supported a two-state solution in the Middle East and that nothing had changed.
“Australia’s position is the same as it was this morning, as it was last year, as it was 10 years ago,” he said. (…)
“I’m not going to, as Australia’s prime minister, give a daily commentary on statements by the U.S. president,” he said. “My job is to support Australia’s position.”
New Zealand’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that its “long-standing support for a two-state solution is on the record” and added that it, too, “won’t be commenting on every proposal that is put forward.”
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian also underscored Beijing’s longstanding support for a two-state solution.
“We oppose the forced relocation of people in Gaza and hope that the relevant parties will take the ceasefire and post-war governance in Gaza as an opportunity to push the Palestinian issue back on the right track,” he said.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told state-run Anadolu Agency that Trump’s proposal on “deportations from Gaza is not something that either the region or we would accept.”
“Even thinking about it, in my opinion, is wrong and absurd,” Fidan said.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called for the United Nations to “protect the Palestinian people and their inalienable rights,” saying that what Trump wanted to do would be “a serious violation of international law.”

Hamas, Palestinian Authority reject the Trump plan
Hamas and PLO-controlled Palestinian Authority (PA) vehemently opposed the plan that promises to improve the lives of Gazans and transform the terrorist infested enclave.
Hamas, which has been repressing the residents of Gaza and staging a terrorist campaign against Israel since taking power in 2007, declared that President Trump’s plan was “a recipe for creating chaos” — an audacious claim coming from the architect of the October 7 massacre.
The German state TV Deutsche Welle reported Hamas’s response:
The Palestinian militant group Hamas unsurprisingly says it rejects Trump’s suggestion that Palestinians should leave the Gaza Strip.
“We reject Trump’s statements in which he said that the residents of the Gaza Strip have no choice but to leave,” Hamas said in a statement.
It added that the suggestions are “a recipe for creating chaos and tension in the region.”
Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri also warned that such actions could “ignite the region.”
The Qatari regime-run Al Jazeera reported reaction of the PLO, which controls the West Bank though PA:
Secretary-General Hussein al-Sheikh said the PLO rejects all calls for the displacement of the Palestinian people from their homeland.
“The Palestinian leadership affirms its firm position that the two-state solution, in accordance with international legitimacy and international law, is the guarantee of security, stability and peace,” he said on X.

The two state solution has been proposed for a long time. It has never come to fruition because one of the “states” refuses to live in peace, even with statehood status and sovereignty.
And it’s not Israel that keeps rejecting peace settlements!
There’s already a two-state solution, and Trump is acknowledging it – Israel and Jordan.
That has always been the “historical” solution.
No one should ever accuse Trump of not being capable of thinking outside the box.
If the world wants peace and stability in the region and the capital to rebuild a post-war Gaza, it’s not unrestricted and courtesy of American taxpayers. Construction comes with a price.
Sounds like he is over the target….
Except their opinion is irrelevant.
Only Israel and the USA opinions count
The w oke and communists act as if Gaza is a step child that a court can decide fates as opposed to the parents (sovereign nations, USA , Israel
Now my tinfoil hat is suggesting to me that this may all be a Trump ploy to get the neocons still hidden in the swamp to raise their eyes above the water and be identified. He’s still the only recent president who never started a war.
Actually, their opinions aren’t completely irrelevant and if they actually wanted a 2 state solution then they would back Trump.
Gazans have wholly rejected 2 state over and over so the only recourse is to offer something worse to force compromise. By not having this, they tell Gaza that they can keep the war going.
“The United Nations in its statement claimed that a resettlement plan, as suggested by the U.S. president, was “strictly prohibited.”
A 2 state solution:) Can we get serious about withdrawing from the UN and kicking their tails out of America? The UN is as bad as some of our useless self serving government agencies, like DOE.
Very strange that Muslim countries don’t want anything to do with the terrorists on their soil. I thought all Muslims were united or something?
Sounds like an excellent opportunity to kick the UN TF out of the US
Trump said, “The status quo doesn’t work. Now that I have your attention, what would YOU suggest?” Let’s listen to the replies, if there are any. We know what the rest of the world doesn’t want. Let’s see what they DO want.
I wonder what would be said if the idea of relocating the Palis to Iran were floated? What, the Persians don’t want their “allies?” Hmmm, imagine that.
.
I believe this is more accurate than many want to accept. If the ‘Palestinians’ in Gaza are:
1. Refugees
2. Forced to live in the ‘Prison’ of Gaza
Trump puts out an offer to solve those issues and the ‘international community’ rejected Trump offer of direct USA involvement to turn Gaza into a Mediterranean Dubai then …OK. Y’all don’t want our help so y’all figure it out, y’all pay for it and by the way the USA and Israel will demand final approval over the details of your solution.
Yes, Trump has allowed the world to reject US leadership in the rebuilding of Gaza. Now he can shrug off demands for US assistance in the project. He has stated the US position on the “refugees” themselves (resettle them elsewhere, which has historically been the solution to a refugee problem) and has had it rejected. He has purposefully thrown an interception to give the ball to the opposing team, making it their responsibility to advance it towards the goal.
(My Super Bowl analogy for the day. I’m going to watch just to see the crowd explode when Trump is introduced at the game.)
“”Let’s see what they DO want.””
You’re already seeing it. That’s how they ended up in Gaza and the West Bank in the first place. You’ll play hell getting anybody to take them back.
“President Donald Trump’s proposal for the U.S. to take over Gaza and resettle its residents in neighboring Arab countries was met with sharp rejection . . . ”
Best recommendation ever!
Halcyon Daze, YES,!
Most of us have something to say to all those horrible places and it’s NOT Happy Birthday!
If they don’t like it, you know it’s in our BEST interests!
Well, it’s a stupid plan, everybody should reject it.
Other than the discredited two state solution, which obviously won’t work, what would you suggest?
.
It’s an opening bid in a negotiation. A tactic. Do try to keep up.
Negotiating with who? The recidivist terrorists? The arab countries who don’t want the recidivist terrorists? The only solution to the problem is beyond the pale and involves a lot of dead people.
“Negotiating with who?”
The countries who don’t want to take responsibility for solving the problem, but insist on telling you what solutions you aren’t allowed to use to solve the problem.
This is a way to tell them, “Ball’s in your court, and the clock is running out. Lead, follow, or stay out of our way.”
I guarentee the “leadership” of Hamas is flipping out right now and begging to talk to Trump. But just 2 days ago they would have said “we will never talk to that infidel zionist pig.” Now they are buying him gift baskets and praying he will notice them. Who knows maybe they will mysteriously find the Bibas family that they seem determined to keep forever. This is how he always doe things, go maximum pressure to shake things up. In this instance I actually think it’s the honest solution, but anything is better than the tired, old, lets give the Palestinians tons of more US tax payer money to build new tunnels and kill more Jews people.
Sorry; I downvoted your comment by mistake. I agree with you completely.
Of course you do.
That was the idea. World-wide rejection of the idea leads to, “Alright. What’s your plan?”
Note Bibi was silent on the matter. He’s aware of Trump’s game.
Apologies for the fat finger that should’ve been an upvote
My question to the Europeans: If the US and Israel implement the Trump plan for Gaza, what are you going to do about it? Send your girly men to fight the IDF and the US Army? How about first protecting your own citizens from Muslim terror and crime.
Obviously the so-called two-state solution is doomed, and was always doomed. The Middle East Muslims simply don’t want Israel to exist, The state of Israel has 0.3% of the Middle East land. This does not include Gaza or Judea and Samaria. Thus the Arab/Muslims occupy 99.7% of the Middle East. A mere 3 parts in 1,000 is too much for the Jews.
I suspect American Reform Rabbis agree with the Europeans. I think even Dershowitz, who is a huge supporter of Israel advocates a two-state solution. Time to extinguish this worn out idea.
They have been yelling for years “Free Palestine” and finally, Trump took them up on the offer.
Such a deal !!
I’m picturing a giant Trump Tower on the Gaza strip right now with few crazy college kids from Columbia U hanging out in front screaming “free, free Gaza” to a crowd of millionaire tourists from the UAE and Dubai. Meanwhile the former Gazan people are actually getting jobs, raising families, and attending school in Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Lebanon, Europe wherever. The only losers in the game are the dumb ass college kids who will need to find a new cult. But I’m hopeful they’ll bounce back quickly, there’s always some climate doom cult or something they can join.
“Mar a Gaza.”
My comment from the previous post on this subject:
“Everyone thinks this is a bad idea… Iran would hate the U.S. having a strong military presence right next door to Israel. The Russians won’t like it. The Chinese won’t like it. Syria? Turkey? Egypt? Iraq?
Now, take a look at my post about how to negotiate, above. You can’t apply tariffs in this situation. You need some other lever. The surrounding countries don’t want to take the Palestinians. Hmmmm what could you use to make other countries put pressure on them to take the Palestinians?
Say! What about the threat of a huge American military presence?
Anybody got any alternative suggestions? Buller? The E.U.? Russia?
My current thought path is: Who is the weakest country in the area right now that would have the most difficulty in rejecting the acceptance of Gazans? What government is most in need of foreign support?
What? Syria, you say?
Didn’t we keep a lot of military assets in Turkey? Another reason they might not be so keen on Trump’s idea: the US taking our stuff and moving it somewhere else not too far away but also under our direct control. Not to mention having an area like that under our control would be a significant help to antiterrorism efforts in the Middle East.
Moving the Palies to Syria would be a bad idea. The new regime there is as likely to allow militant Palestinians forces to re-arm, train, and attack Israel from Syrian bases, as not.
The US actually does have leverage because we give a huge amount of aid to Egypt ($1.5B yearly) and Jordan ($1.6B yearly). That’s why Trump picked those two.
Other Muslim nations in the area undeservedly receive largess from the US including:
Iraq $143M
Syria $512M
Yemin $754M
Afganistan $746M

Trump is enticing everyone else to think outside the box. Trouble is, everyone else has taken up residence in the box for so long that they might as well own a time share in it.
Actually, he’s provoking them to hate our guts.
They already hate us
Look at the list of countries that have condemned Trump’s announcement. Do you think that all of them already hate us?
Are you really that dense? Trump’s genius is that he says outrageous things, forcing others to suggest and support alternate plans. It’s his way of posing the question, “Talk is cheap, whaddya got?”
Hate? Meh some, not all. For those.who don’t hate then Disdain? Yep Dislike? Yep. Hold in contempt? Yep.
The USA isn’t universally loved nor respected.
News flash: We don’t care, especially when it comes to the Mid-East where their opinions have routinely been garbage.
What world do you live in?
I live in the big world that exists outside the echo chamber of the LI comment section.
You seem to be living in the comment sections, however. So why pretend you are above it all when you’re trying so hard to make echoes?
“I live in the big world that exists outside the echo chamber of the LI comment section.”
Yet here you are, every day. You must be a masochist.
How can we miss you when you never leave?
moonmoth is here because the demoralizing efforts are not working with the first provacateur, so another was added.
spewing idiocies and declaring that it is ‘on our side’ so that it can use the same tired ‘more in sorrow than in anger’ to spew all over the site.
News flash “they” already hate us! Liking us doesn’t help anything. Fearing us is another story, as that coincides with respect. In the middle east there is no currency in “liking” someone; it’s about respect, and that is earned from strength not concessions, gifts, foreign aid or all the usual lets throw lots of money at it solutions! We’ve tried giving the Palestinians pretty much everything and all they wants is to kill more Jews. That’s what our money goes to time and time again, along with funding more indoctrination to raise the next generation of murderers (see UNRWA) The money and aid always goes to hamas, and it’s always used to kill more Jews. So it’s time to take a different approach and do what every other refugee group has done everywhere else in the world, resettle and move on with our life.
They already hate your guts you f99king intellectual pigmy 😂 😂
“Russia and China, leading U.S. adversaries, joined the European and Muslim states in commending the plan”
Um. I think this is should read, “condemning”.
How much of the rest of the world does the amen chorus here think that Trump can afford to turn against us at the same time?
What makes you think this will turn them against us?
Have you paid any attention to the growth of Brics in recent years?
What makes you think they are on our side NOW? Hint; they’re not.
And… what effect do you imagine them “hating” us will have?
Are you of the opinion that every country in the world is already against us? As for “effects”, consider the growth of BRICS; NATO’s impending defeat in Ukraine; the Houthi’s disruption of shipping through the Red Sea; and the Iran-Russia-China axis that is forming.
Plus the willingness of much of the world to help Russia evade US sanctions.
Those countries already hate America sweetie so Trump doing stuff isnt going to make them hate you even more 😂 😂
Yes, most of the world is against us. As all your examples already seem to show.
Did you think it was ever different?
Countries don’t have friends; at best they have allies. For the most part they have relationships which are not actually hostile.. Our once-staunch English speaking allies have all succumbed to neoMarxist governments, which makes them unreliable at best and a clear and present danger for in many ways.
The US needs to look to our own needs and safety first, as all other countries already do. It is a classically leftist position that the US uniquely must sacrifice itself in order to ingratiate itself to the rest of the world. What other country does that? And why should we?
Have you tried living overseas? Yes, a lot of countries hate America, a lot of it is just reflexive hatred and jealousy from communism and old feuds and alliances; and some of it is hared of our values. A lot of countries don’t like women having any rights or gay people getting married. Many other countries think that the Koran should dictate all laws. Yup, those places hate us. Guess what? They hated us when saint Obama was president too! Shocking, I know. The more important point is do they respect us and actually think we will stand by our values, our allies, our people and what we say. And under Biden the answer was no, no and some more no’s thrown in there. But did they like Biden? I’m sure they did, if that makes you feel any better. I like Rep. Maxine Waters, I think she’s hilarious. But I don’t respect her. See the difference.
For one thing, US sanctions on Russia have no force or effect on any other country. The sanctions prevent US-based businesses from doing business with Russia. (As the embargo on trade with Cuba, constantly blamed by Cuba for its ills, doesn’t prevent the rest of the world from trading with Cuba.) “(M)uch of the world” is not “help(ing) Russia evade US sanctions,” they’re acting in their own best interests, as all countries should do, including ours.
NATO is a globalist boondoggle which became irrelevant with the collapse of the USSR/Warsaw Pact. The idea of NATO was sold and created as the necessary counter to the USSR and Warsaw Pact. IOW NATO is way past the sell by date in early ’90s.
BRICS + network/affiliation of Nations is IMO a GOOD thing. It simply formalized the preexisting nature of international power. It makes very clear we have a multi polar world balance of power.
The USA should knock off the shackles of NATO and shed the burden of the ‘indispensable’ Nation. Then redirect our focus to our own Hemisphere. See Panama Canal, Greenland reworking the relationship with Canada/Mexico.
Again, IMO, the big mistake was choosing China over Russia as the Nation the USA would cleave to in post Cold War era. That decision caused massive upheaval in our domestic economy, outsource of quality manufacturing jobs, hollowed out middle America and devastated middle class. Led in part to opioid crisis now fentanyl crisis and mass illegal aliens in the USA.
You sound more like a broken record than anyone here. Or maybe a one horse pony is a better description.
I’m pretty sure you don’t mean “one horse pony”. You probably meant “dog-faced pony soldier”.
But yes, concern troll is concerned. We should appreciate its so-not-unique talking points.
“Biden calls Fox News correspondent Doocy ‘one-horse pony’ after Hunter Biden question”

Some things have no solution.
Crime for example, has no solution. There have always been criminals and there always will be. You can’t get rid of crime by education or building new housing or cleaning up neighborhoods. All you can do is attempt to contain it and control it, but you can’t eradicate it. If it came from another country you need to deport it and send it back to where it came from as soon as possible.
The same is true of Hamas. You can’t get rid of Hamas unless you get rid of Palestinians. You can re-name it, educate it, build new housing, send peace keepers—but you can’t eliminate hatred of Jews and the desire to kill.
Yes but there may be a prison in El Salvador willing to take them!
WTF! Paula’s making sense???? Mark this day!!! lol . you forgot to add you can’t stop drugs, either
I think this great as it was always the answer from the very beginning, and has been the answer every else in the world when war and displacement has occurred. No other group of people get to be permanent refugees constantly allowed to attack and foment hate against a group of people while demanding that this same group of people give them humanitarian aid. Gaza was never part of Israel anyway, it was part of Egypt, and many of the people living there are likely not even descendants of the original Muslims who fled Israel during the war of independence. For those who are, it’s time to move on, get resettled and have a life beyond professionally hating and murdering Jews. The fact that Europe, the UN and the usual Middle East luminaries “reject” Trump’s plan just shows that it is the correct answer. The reality is the most of the Middle East is over the Palestinians and has been for a long time, only Iran finds them to be useful idiots anymore. Moving Gazans to other countries won’t eliminate their indoctrinated hatred of Jews and desire to kill them, that will take several generations, but it’s a good start to ending this stalemate.
The “Palestinians” are the only descendants of refugees to ever also be called “refugees.” Most of the original “refugees” are deceased. They are also probably the only “refugees” in history, who were largely composed of a mass of people who voluntarily left their land. Most Palestinians weren’t driven from their land, they left it when asked to do so by invading Arab armies who wanted Israel to be a free-fire zone to more effectively kill Jews. The Palies were promised the Jews’ land after their (the Jews) elimination. Unfortunately for the Palies, that did not happen. The nascent state of Israel actually begged Arabs to stay, promising them full citizenship and participation is Israeli society (as enjoyed by the descendants of those Arabs who did not flee). Those Arabs who rejected the offer became the “Palestinians.”
According to most reports there were only about 50,000 people living in Gaza at the end of the ’67 war when it was part of Egypt. Where did the huge influx of people come from? Almost certainly the majority came from Egypt and Jordan.
This move is so Trump. Just like he does with the MSM, he throws out a whopper and they go nuts. Well, he just did that to the lethargic world that never does anything to promote peace. Now they are terrified that he will do this and they will react with a counter-proposal which is exactly what he wanted.
Agreed he’s taking a shot across the bow like he always does to get things moving and get people out of their recalcitrant corners. The stupid media helps him with it every time too by making him seem just crazy enough to mean it. I personally love the idea and think we should combine it with the El Salvador prison offer. That’s two birds with one stone.
The Arab invaders from Arabia (Fakestinians) have never been sincere about any “peace” deal — these fanatics and reprobates are committed to waging incessant and genocidal Islamic “holy war” against Jews and Christians.
That is why Gaza and the West Bank — no matter how many hundreds of billions of dollars of international aid are squandered on the two territories — will never be anything other than failed, impoverished and belligerent terrorist states, so long as the Fakestinians are left in charge.
