DRC also faces violence from the Rwanda-backed armed group M23.

We must not forget the persecution of Christians in Africa. If you encounter any of these stories, please send them to me on X: @mchastain81.

Militants decapitated 70 Christians in a church in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on February 13.

The victims reportedly include women, children, and the elderly.

No group has taken responsibility, but reports indicate they belong to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), which has ties to ISIS. From Open Doors UK:

According to field sources, at around 4am last Thursday (13 February) suspected militants from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) – a group with ties to so-called Islamic State (IS) – approached homes in Mayba in the territory of Lubero, saying: “Get out, get out and don’t make any noise.” Twenty Christian men and women came out and were captured.

Shaken by this incident, people from the local community in Mayba later gathered to work out how to release those held captive. However, ADF militants surrounded the village and captured a further 50 believers.

All 70 of those kidnapped were taken to a Protestant church in Kasanga where they were tragically killed.

One report said the murder happened three days after the kidnapping.

Field sources reported that many of the families have not been able to bury their loved ones due to insecurity.

Many Christians have left the area, too.

The majority of the Congo population identifies as Christian, and yet they remain a top target. Why? Islamic terrorist groups:

  • Christians face severe persecution and violence frequently from Islamist militants the ADF, especially in the eastern region. Allied with the Islamic State group, the ADF abduct and kill Christians and attack churches, leading to widespread terror, insecurity and displacement.
  • The M23 rebel group, reportedly supported by Rwanda, also targets Christian civilians, making the situation even worse.
  • Conversion from Islam is considered shameful by families and communities, and this is often a source of persecution and pressure.

The Congo does not have “specific laws to protect Christian women and girls, making them vulnerable to domestic violence and forced marriages.”

But it’s not just ADF.

The Rwanda-backed armed group M23 has been ravaging DRC since December 2024.

The State Department addressed the situation today.

“The United States is sanctioning today two individuals and two entities linked to violence and human rights abuses in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC),” State spokesperson Tammy Bruce wrote in a press release. “This action includes designation of Rwanda’s Minister of State for Regional Integration James Kabarebe and the M23 and the Congo River Alliance spokesperson Lawrence Kanyuka Kingston, alongside two of Kanyuka’s companies, Kingston Fresh and Kingston Holding.”

It’s not Africa’s century. – Henry Kissinger

Let us all hope that the jihad will be coordinated via pagers.

Savagery is backed into Islam.

Why the deafening silence from BLM ??

I suppose USAID sent these thugs money too

May I suggest a thermonuclear method of response?

But Islam is such a peaceful religion. Bush needs to burn in hell for that statement and for his attempted normalization of Islam. So does everyone else that facilitates Muslim entry into this country. That includes those Iraqis and Afghanis that aided our troops. Help them to get out but settle them elsewhere unless they’re not muslims.

where they were tragically killed.
No. They were diabolically murdered.

You can still be praying for repentance and conversion of your enemy and actually use the proper words to describe what was done. They were murdered by evil men. Use plain language to expose the evil.

Even Israel has been too slow to understand that in a world where those who don’t love you want you dead… you must oblige them with your death or their own.

Horrified as I am by this I sure hope South Africa, Europe, and China do something about it.

I guess Michelle Obama’s twitter campaign didn’t work as well as was intended.

Senseless and tragic but not our issue to solve.

In the sense of “as US taxpayers” or “as the USA as a country”, yes.
In the sense of Christians who should be outraged and feeling they should be protecting the less fortunate, it should be our issue to resolve.

But Progressives stopped that ages ago, in their march for globalism, when they outlawed “private armies.” I bet, without that restriction, you could find a bunch of folks willing to go and root out those jihadis and other militant groups. (I bet We Fight Monsters could pull together a large group of veterans pretty quickly.)

And that would be a much better option – individuals coming together outside of government, to solve a problem, taking responsibility themselves – than the USA once again acting as the world’s ineffectual police. (The same people who ban private armies also insist on writing ineffective ROE for warfare. Think about that.)

Searching for motive!?!

Wow! Sanctions! That’ll show ‘em!

Islam, a totalitarian political ideology and death cult pretending to be a religion.

Quit turning the other cheek, sing Onward Christian Soldiers. Form security groups and protect your city with guns.
Like their brother democraps here in the US, terrorists would rather you not have the capability to fight back.

Savages, being savages.

Were there any Americans among those killed?
