Trump Orders Guantanamo Bay to Hold 30,000 Criminal Illegal Aliens

“Some of them are so bad, we don’t even trust the countries to hold them because we don’t want them coming back. So we’re going to send them out to Guantanamo.”

President Donald Trump told the Pentagon and DHS to use Guantanamo Bay to hold 30,000 criminal illegal aliens.

“I hereby direct the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Homeland Security to take all appropriate actions to expand the Migrant Operations Center at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay to full capacity to provide additional detention space for high-priority criminal aliens unlawfully present in the United States, and to address attendant immigration enforcement needs identified by the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security,” according to the memo, sent by email.

Trump announced the move before he signed the Laken Riley Act into law, which mandates the government detain illegal aliens “charged with theft or burglary.”

Trump said:

Today I’m also signing an executive order to instruct the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to begin preparing the 30,000 person migrant facility at Guantanamo Bay. Most people don’t even know about it.

We have 30,000 beds in Guantanamo to detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people. Some of them are so bad, we don’t even trust the countries to hold them because we don’t want them coming back. So we’re going to send them out to Guantanamo. This will double our capacity immediately, right? Right.

And tough. That’s a tough place to get out of.

Today’s signings bring us one step closer to eradicating the scourge of migrant crime in our communities once and for all. And it was just a purely it’s just an unforced error that we even have to be doing this now. We need Congress to provide full funding for the complete and total restoration of our sovereign borders, as well as financial support to remove record numbers of illegal aliens.

What is the lesson from this?

Don’t try to call a bluff on someone who doesn’t bluff.

The next country that refuses to let our plane land will turn around and head straight to Guantanamo.

It’s an interesting idea but how long should American Taxpayers be on the hook paying for this? Maybe this is what Trump really want’s Greenland for.

He wants Greenland for its resources and proximity to the Arctic. The best thing for violent illegals their home countries won’t take back, is to give them an option of fighting for Ukraine with very strong incentives to accept. Ukraine is desperate for cannon fodder, and giving them illegals really does kill two birds with one stone, and helps to pressure the Russians into ending the war. Right now the Russians have a manpower advantage, but if they knew Ukraine had access to a limitless supply of cannon fodder from Central and South America, the Russians might be more willing to make a deal.

Self deporting, anyone?

Yep, good incentive is being created to avoid this by self deporting …and for any Nations or lefty wokiestas whining about the ‘treatment’ of the folks they sent us to take them back quickly.

Aarradin in reply to Petrushka. | January 30, 2025 at 1:47 am

I’d like to see more incentive for self deporting.

Like, announcing that everyone deported will documented, biometrically, and prohibited for life from ever entering the US legally under any circumstances – including a prohibition against them coming back and trying to claim asylum.

One and done. If we actually have to deport you, you never get to come back no matter what.

Then watch how many leave on their own and apply to come legally. Like they should have to begin with.

I think this will have legitimate blowback, legally and constitutionally.
But I get the point, and I’m ok with it as an intermediate stop to their home countries.

Or, maybe they can escape into Cuba? BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Watch, wait for it…Schumer, Jeffries, Sanders, and Warren will scream that this EO is unconstitutional because P-47 failed to ask Congress if it is okay to do this and is unlawful since he signed the EO without the Democrats’ 30-day prior approval BS or some other contrived nonsense like that.

Guantanamo is good for the east coast. I want to see Trump do the same sort of thing, but put the prisoners on San Clemente Island (SCI). This place is not well known outside of SoCal, but is almost perfect. It is government owned, about 70 miles off the coast of San Diego, and about 20 square miles. Very nice location and could house at least a million people (given the density of Manhattan or Singapore).

SCI is run by the US Navy. As commander in chief, the president can order that be used. The whole island is covered by the “100 mile rule”, so the CBP can operate there and detain anybody that is on the island. There are already troops on the island, and some number of them could be used for security. I am sure there a few thousand “FEMA trailers” that could be deployed there for housing. I hope this is up and running by next week.

I said this would happen 2 weeks ago

Good!!!

Genius. You have to wonder why no one not named Trump thought of this.

Wrong island. Take a page from the DeSantis playbook and send them to Martha’s Vineyard.

command_liner | January 29, 2025 at 4:23 pm

Kodiak Island is actually my first choice, but San Clemente Island is closer and easier to use. Total time to get a result would be less.

The other Channel Islands are also good choices. When the emergency is over, the island(s) can be restored to their previous use.

If they go to Gitmo then we pay to feed, clothe them and provide medical care. Then there will be the hundreds of Dem lawyers heading down there to represent the illegals the same way Dem lawyers did the 9-11 terrorists. If we have to keep these people up then for gosh sake, bill their home countries.

Why not death. Alley?

Alex deWynter | January 29, 2025 at 5:45 pm

I strongly suspect the reason why Gitmo was chosen is the same reason Bush put it there in the first place — being technically outside the US, legal niceties such as habeas corpus don’t apply.

Gitmo is all well and good, but why not kill two birds with one stone? Give violent illegal aliens a choice – be locked up in Gitmo, or go fight for Ukraine. If you are lucky enough to survive the war, you can live in Ukraine, but you will never return to the US. Ukraine needs cannon fodder to fight the Russians, so why not?
