Legal Insurrection 2025 Author Predictions
Happy New Year!
It’s January 1, 2025.
Let’s get straight to the point. The LI authors have some 2025 predictions for you guys. Do you agree? Do you disagree? What do you think will happen in 2025?
Professor William Jacobson
First, let’s look at my predictions last year for 2024, which were very specific and precise. On second thought, let’s not.
My predictions for 2025:
- 1. The Iranian Mullah regime will collapse after Israel takes out its nuclear facilities, that will be the opening for a popular revolt, and the cranes in Iran will be very busy.
- 2. Biden will unload another massive number of pardons before he leaves office, including family members, J6 committee members, prosecutors (including Jack Smith), and an assortment of people who he believes would be targeted by the Trump DOJ.
- 3. Trump will pardon almost all J6 defendants, excepting only the small number proven to have physically assaulted police.
- 4. Federal workers will be ordered to return to the office. Ten to fifteen percent of them overall, higher in some departments, will quit.
- 5. Trump will crack down on the border and launch a mass deportation effort, but it will get bogged down in the courts, nonetheless, it will have an impact as fewer people cross and many people leave voluntarily as employment prospects dwindle and public assistance is curtailed.
- 6. Trump will target DEI in the executive branch and in education, cutting off programs and funding used for race-based initiatives and eligibility.

2025 will be whack with President-elect Donald Trump back in office. Overall, not much will change. Don’t get your hopes up.
Sure we’ll see more media meltdowns and the Democrats remain in disarray.
But let’s be real. The government won’t shrink or slash enough spending. The Republicans are big government, too. Maybe not as big government as Democrats, but you’re silly if you think Republicans are small government and fiscally conservative.

In a 6-3 decision, the US Supreme Court will uphold Tennessee’s transgender care ban for minors, because the law doesn’t discriminate based on sex. Its restrictions are based on age and use, treating both sexes equally.
And because transgender care is a hotly debated area of medicine, the court will rule that it should be left to lawmakers—who take expert testimony and are accountable to the people they represent—not judges, to determine state policy. I wrote about the case, U.S. v. Skrmetti, here and here.
My other predictions are also about transgender policies—and they started coming true already, because Trump isn’t waiting until Inauguration Day to get to work.
Last week, Biden’s Department of Education preemptively withdrew its proposed changes to Title IX that allowed biological men into women’s spaces.
Biden’s people know that his transgender policy can be undone by Trump on January 20th the same way it was done by Biden four years ago, i.e., with executive orders.
That’s what Trump meant the other day when he said, echoing Obama, “With the stroke of my pen on Day 1 we are going to stop the transgender lunacy”:
TRUMP: “We’re going to stop the transgender lunacy. I will sign executive orders to end child s*xual m*tilation, get transgender out of the military and out of our elementary schools. We will keep men our of women’s sports!”

I must admit, I was pretty solid with my 2024 predictions. However, I missed the one about the Artemis mission, which has been more delayed than I had anticipated. Here are three predictions for 2025:
- 1) The winter’s “bird flu” pandemic-mania by the media will morph into another summer of monkeypox. The mainstream media accounts will be ignored, and Americans will carry on.
- 2) People will begin to recognize the life-essential importance of carbon dioxide and the biogenic carbon cycle, and the energy industry will begin to move more aggressively in court against climate cultists.
- 3) In California, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s attempt to reconstitute a Resistance Army against President Donald Trump will completely fail, and he will begin his inevitable slide into political oblivion.
I wish all of our Legal Insurrection friends a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2025.

The candidate who will succeed Phil Murphy as Governor in New Jersey will be a Republican.

I predict that Mike Johnson will remain Speaker of the House, and that 2025 will be an incredibly unpredictable year politically speaking (but in a good way). Happy New Year, LI community, and thanks for the continued support!

- 1. I predict that soon after Trump’s inauguration he will send Seal Team Six to Gaza to rescue the hostages. I predict they will do so with very few friendly casualties but that most if not all of the Americans will be found dead.
- 2. I predict that Pete Hegseth will be confirmed as Secretary of Defense and will, as much as is possible, eradicate DEI and CRT from the U.S. military, over fervent opposition.
- 3. By July 2025 the Islamic Republic of Iran will fall after Israel and the United States conduct punishing air strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. These joint air strikes will include the use of deep penetrating munitions to target deep underground sites, completely eliminating Iran’s capability to use nuclear weapons now or at any time in the future.
- 4. I predict that the closing of the border and deporting of illegal aliens will be much smoother than anticipated. Cutting off welfare benefits for illegals will lead to many of them self-deporting, and a large number of illegals already have outstanding deportation orders, making their “removal” relatively easy.
- 5. I predict CNN and MSNBC will fold and Joy Reid, the View, and Rachel Maddow will all be off the air by this time next year.
- 6. I predict that by the end of 2025 Bret Baier will be the White House Press Secretary, and that new media will be invited to White House press briefings.
- 7. I predict that Joe Biden will be officially diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and will require constant supervision/care around mid-to-late 2025.
- 8. I predict that Kamala Harris will be arrested for felony driving under the influence of alcohol and will have her mugshot taken, completely hammered.

I’m optimistic about Trump being able to bring to fruition most of the objectives on his domestic agenda. Tea Party’s dream will be realized when DOGE successfully rolls down the bureaucratic state. Trump will banish most of the woke and return our military readiness. Most of the illegals will be deported and DOE disbanded —although it may take more than a year.
Prop 36 will reduce crime in California cities with honest District Attorneys. Homelessness and drug addiction in the sanctuary state will be harder to root out.
Israel and America will take out the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program. Operations in Gaza, Lebanon and elsewhere will continue. Israel will not formally annex Mount Hermon — yet.
The war in Ukraine will escalate to an end. The big foreign policy question is Taiwan and I hesitate to predict what will happen there.

Having covered Europe and the Middle East for nearly 10 years for the Legal Insurrection, I have gained the humility not to make bold geopolitical predictions. I will, however, dare to outline what the coming year might have in store for us.
President Donald Trump’s return revives hope for peace in the Middle East (Abraham Accords redux). Trump’s second presidency also raises expectations for an early cessation of hostilities in Ukraine after nearly three years of Russian war of aggression.
With the destruction of Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist groups and the fall of Assad regime, Israel secured multiple victories against Iran’s axis of terror. However, in order to secure a meaningful peace, Israel will have to defang Iran by destroying its nuclear program. It remains to be seen if the change of guard in the White House revives the U.S. policy of quashing Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

My predictions (together with $3 will buy you a cup of coffee):
There will be a completely unexpected shock to our food supply caused by the Trump administration’s zeal for reducing waste and over regulation runs into a federal court’s orders.
A wave of retirements at SCOTUS will occur in 2025-6, three of which are expected but there will be surprises. In the end, SCOTUS will be majority Trump appointees.
I predict that at least one of the three crazy statements – Panama Canal, Greenland, Canada annexation – will come to pass.
Without being specific about the cause, or wishing him ill, Trump will not serve all four years of his term. Vance will emerge as an unexpectedly excellent president.
Finally, the New York Jets will face the Chicago Bears in next years Super Bowl.*
* Ok, that ain’t happening but made you think, didn’t it?
Jets will get to the Super Bowl by beating the Browns in the AFC Championship.
Mr Nault:
I wonder if air strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites is a good idea.
I assume your concern is with some amount of nuclear material spread in the blast from the attack. If so, I would say better that than Tel Aviv, or New York, getting nuked.
Touche.
I wonder if a large-scale US/Israel strike on Iran would give China an opening to move on Taiwan?
Most of the nuclear material is deep underground, and will be entombed, if Iran managed to set off a nuke, it lead to there being an abundance of low quality glass in Iran.
Almost all good with some more plausible than others. James Nault, with respect, please allow some comment:
#5: CNN and MSNBC will stay online but will be significantly changed or possibly sold. We may hope they will go back to their early years when they were at least slightly credible. If this happens, the drama will be more significant than if they just went away.
#6: I can’t see Brett Baier as press secretary. Let Trump go with who he has.
Above all, let’s get Trump inaugurated, in office, and healthy for at least the duration of his second term. You can bet his enemies are sharpening their knives and sighting in their guns, maybe literally. More assassination attempts are coming. God, please shelter and preserve this man.
.
With respect, there is no need for MSNBC. We had regular NBC for news and CNBC for business-specific news. MSNBC became a group of opinionated wankers precisely because it really didn’t have another mission. I can see MSNBC going away as their appeal becomes “more selective”.
Whereas, CNN did originally have a profitable mission — breaking news. The problem is that CNN wanted to be more, so they eventually split off breaking news and became another group of opinionated wankers. They can return to their core mission; they then have to compete with X and the web, but it might be possible to cater to breaking news and make money.
If MSNBC and CNN go entirely to the breaking news format, can they compete with Fox? Probably not, so I can’t see them doing that. They will retain their present flavor, as distasteful as it is, and that may be best.
There will always be a market for loony leftism. If they don’t serve that market at all, somebody else will and we’ll be right back here again. The world needs comic relief. Better the enemy you know …

Cornbelt Nostradamus texts with his fearless predictions for 2025:
1. Trudeau (Canada) gone. Putin (Russia) gone. Starmer (UK) gone. Mullahs probably gone, but definitely on the ropes.
2. AfD becomes 2nd largest party in Bundestag in stunner.
3. UK Labour gets wiped out in May local elections. UK Reform makes major gains.
4. Trump wrangles Ukraine peace deal. Neither Zelensky nor Putin come away happy, which is how it ought to be.
5. Trump helps get Israeli hostages back after invoking Wrath of God on Hamas.
6. Dow hits 50,000 by summer.
7. We don’t buy Greenland, but Trump ensures it becomes a U.S. protectorate.
8. Multiple deaths and resignations in Congress result in padded GOP majorities.
9. China’s Taiwan plans are thrown out of whack when Trump offers to let Taiwan “borrow” some nukes.
10. Liberals suffer historic crushing in ’25 Canada elections. Pierre Poilievre becomes PM and works with Trump to build economic union with U.S.
* Item 1: Maybe. Putin? I dunno. Russia would be in paroxysms which would be not good.
* Items 2-6: All possible. The DJIA flirted with 46,000 this year so let us hope so since our retirement accounts are tied to the NASDAQ.
* Item 7: How can this happen if Denmark says no?
* Item 8: Depends on who, when, and who replaces them.
* Item 9: What an intriguing idea! Can’t wait; it’s got to happen on January 20.
* Item 10: Should be fun to watch.
NPR/PBS/CPB Will still exist
Amtrak will still exist
All the giveaway agencies for things like art grants will still exist.
Government guaranteed student loans will still exist.
The US will remain in the UN.
A few more possibilities:
– Trump moves to quickly deport non-US citizens in federal prisons and cooperating state prisons, maybe using mysterious midnight flights like Biden did, only in reverse.
– Proposal to tax money transfers to Central and South America used by many illegal aliens to send money back home.
– Trump will have great difficulty replacing Supreme Court Justice Clarance Thomas with someone of equal caliber.
The 2025 card Madame Lazonga drew is bewildering.
The center square has, “Bunny The Talking Dog will move from Tacoma to Los Angeles to accept Gavin Newsom’s offer of her own Democrat Voter ID and her own EBT card.”
The other squares are frankly preposterous, but the Madam is keeping this card just the same because she believes the Bunny thing is a lock.
