Fetterman Plans to Meet Trump at Mar-a-Lago
“And I think it’s pretty reasonable that if the president would like to have a conversation — or invite someone to have a conversation — to have it. And no one is my gatekeeper.”
Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) told CBS News he plans to travel to Mar-a-Lago to visit President-elect Donald Trump after sources leaked the news to the outlet.
Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania has accepted an invitation from President-elect Donald Trump to meet with him at his Mar-a-Lago estate, according to multiple sources familiar with the plans.
“That is the plan. Yes, we are going to have a conversation,” Fetterman told CBS News about the upcoming meeting.
The trip will mark the first known time a sitting Democratic U.S. senator is meeting with Trump at his Palm Beach residence since the election.
“I think that one, he’s the president, or he will be officially,” Fetterman said. “And I think it’s pretty reasonable that if the president would like to have a conversation — or invite someone to have a conversation — to have it. And no one is my gatekeeper.”
My goodness, I wish all politicians would remember they work for their constituents, not the party:
“I’ve been very clear that I have ongoing conversations with people that are going to have an impact on Pennsylvania and for the nation,” Fetterman said. “And I am a senator for Pennsylvania, not just for Democrats. I am a senator for everyone in Pennsylvania.”
I know you all know Fetterman has been reasonable since he took office. We know he will vote to confirm Elise Stefanik for U.S. Ambassador, Marco Rubio for Secretary of State, and Sean Duffy for Secretary of Transportation. He has been, I believe, the only Democrat who has even met with any of Trump’s nominees.
Fetterman cosponsored the Laken Riley Act. He went on Fox News, reminding his party that not voting for the act shows why Trump won in November, and the Republicans have Congress.
I mean, Fetterman would even have a conversation about Greenland:
Fetterman has proven to be open to some proposals Trump has floated, even though most Democrats have immediately dismissed them. When the president-elect proposed this week that the U.S. should control Greenland, Fetterman indicated it was an idea worth talking about.
“I have no idea what’s going to exactly come up. So, I mean, regardless of whatever comes up, that’s going to be part of the conversation,” Fetterman told CBS News.
.@JohnFetterman also compared it to Alaska which the press referred to as “Seward’s Folly” at the time
By 1890’s the snide remarks evaporated as the economic/strategic value of Alaska was realized (same with the Louisiana purchase)⁰Be more like @SenFettermanPA & read history https://t.co/Igu7vckVqH pic.twitter.com/W31o8mvtG7— ZitoSalena (@ZitoSalena) January 8, 2025

Well said!
Fetterman possesses too much civility and common sense to be a Dhimmi-crat. He should switch parties and join the GOP.
I head there’s a new book coming out next year called, “The Long Road from Democrat to Republican” by John Fetterman.
Subtitled: “By the yard it’s hard. By the inch it’s a cinch.”
No. He should move slightly north and bump Chuckie out of his seat.
Whatever happened from his stroke, the guy now seems like the only Democrat that has established himself as truly different, an outsider offering something else. His following will grow, especially compared to the lame people now calling the shots. Politicos in hoodies may become the thing.
Thinking Fetterman may become Republican is wishful, but he is surely to alienate many of the old guard that has helped create the mess we find all around us. At this rate, he may become the leader of the New Democrats, the ones that have common sense and are not afraid to step away from the leftist fanatics.
This guy is more Republican than many Republicans senators are!
almost all Democrats are Marxists, only about 15 percent of the elected Republicans adhere to those theories; a number of others just take money to subvert the United States of America
‘You R ang?’
Fetterman trying to become a Republican?
I would eat my hat if he did.
You want fries with that?
Yes, please.
There was a time in the not-so-distant past when most Democrats were not Marxist fanatics and did not believe that their opponents were evil and deserving only of incarceration or death.
Fetterman is one of those. He’s no conservative by any measure, but neither is he guided by the loudest and craziest fraction of the left, as most of his party is. I wish him well; he will serve PA well.
Any big dude with a beard can’t be all bad.
It’s incredibly ironic that a stroke seems to have convinced Fetterman to think for himself.
Fetterman is starting to remind me of Joe Lieberman.
