Trump Nominates Harmeet K. Dhillon for Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights
Dhillon: “It has been my dream to be able to serve our great country.”
President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Harmeet K. Dhillon, a free speech attorney, to serve as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights.
Trump wrote:
Throughout her career, Harmeet has stood up consistently to protect our cherished Civil Liberties, including taking on Big Tech for censoring our Free Speech, representing Christians who were prevented from praying together during COVID, and suing corporations who use woke policies to discriminate against their workers. Harmeet is one of the top Election lawyers in the Country, fighting to ensure that all, and ONLY, legal votes are counted. She is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Virginia Law School, and clerked in the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Harmeet is a respected member of the Sikh religious community. In her new role at the DOJ, Harmeet will be a tireless defender of our Constitutional Rights, and will enforce our Civil Rights and Election Laws FAIRLY and FIRMLY.

Dhillon founded the Dhillon Law Group. She serves as an RNC Committeewoman for California, too.
Trump’s DOJ interviewed Dhillon for this role in 2017.
Dhillon challenged then RNC Chairperson Ronna McDaniel in 2023. She lost 111-51 after McDaniel supporters kept using her Sikh faith to attack her.

Regarding your question: possibly. But, this administration is picking based on merit, not box-ticking. Trump’s one big clunker – that Sheriff in Flah – withdrew himself from consideration so things look good.
The SG and Labor nominees are clunkers too. I’d rather not have a Covidian as SG again.
Harmeet is an excellent choice for this position. She is very bright; takes on tough cases; totally understands the voting issues we have in the USA.
While this 2024 election did not have the problems of 2020, Harmeet knows and values proof of citizenship and photo ID – the core of honest elections. AND protects minorities. If you missed the map showing the states not requiring photo IDs, Harris won them all.
Harmeet treats everyone with respect. This is a terrific choice,. TY President Trump.
A lot of the reason this election did not have the problems of 2020 was Harmeet Dhillon. She was the main one recruiting attorneys for the RNC to challenge any last minute rule changes and anything people reported that looked sketchy.
GREAT choice. Dhillon will do a great job in that role.

Harmeet Dhillon is great! She should have won her campaign to run the RNC the last time when Rona McDaniel was able to maintain control for one more time to run the GOP into the ground. I’m glad that she’ll be in a sensitive area of the DOJ to bring some reason and sense to an insane department.
Okay, she clerked for the 4th Circuit. Yes, she resided in California. Those are undeniably negatives. But she only has two strikes on her. Let’s see if she can do something meaningful.
She had to care for her husband of 16 years dying of cancer and Parkinson’s in August.

Living in California is not a strike. It’s a perfectly legitimate state to live.
As for her clerkship, Paul Niemeyer is as conservative a judge as you could hope to find, on any circuit. The fact that he’s on the 4th is irrelevant and it’s stupid to bring it up.
I’m more concerned about JD Vance having worked briefly at Sidley Austin. But so did Mike Lee, and he turned out OK.
There are conservatives who live in California, you know. Victor Davis Hanson being one of the most prominent.

Trump unleases yet another fighter on the affirmative discrimination pencil pushers in the Civil Rights Division.
The biggest losers on this appointment, however, may be Al Sharpton, Ben Crump and the rest of the race grifters who have gotten fat over the years from extorting cash from companies with the connivance of the DOJ.
I suspect Crump, Sharpton, and some of the rest of the troublemakers will say something along the lines of, “that job is saved for blacks, they are the only ones who know the struggle blah blah blargle-blah”.
I should have said, “that job has traditionally gone to a black…”

Harmeet is so much more than a lawyer, and now a political figure. She has shared many facets of her life on X.. She is an amazing chef, an amazing gardener, and she knits the most beautiful sweaters and hats… When I heard about this, of course I was grinning ear to ear.. She deserves this.. absolutely.. but then I thought, who will take care of her garden?
Still, I know she will not forget about the tubers and bulbs she has saved for next year. She has the ability to help save our nation, and grow flowers.
By the way, she lost her husband and her dear father this year, and yet she carries on the business of Dhillon Law.. Life gave her a tremendous kick in the teeth.. and she came up smiling. We are lucky to have her.
To what possible end and purpose would Folks use her Sikh faith to attack her? Aren’t we better than that?
I am surprised some of the more militant members of the majority religion aren’t hollering like mashed cats.
Muslims on the other hand will just try to get close enough to “allah-hoo achbar!” her.
She is a strong voice against campus anti-Semitism and the pro-Hamas mobs on campus. A great pick.
