Report: Trump FBI Pick Kash Patel Targeted in Iranian Hack

Officials believe the hackers “accessed at least some of Patel’s communications.”

Sources told CNN that Iranian hackers targeted Kash Patel, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to lead the FBI.

Officials believe the hackers “accessed at least some of Patel’s communications.”

Trump’s transition team declined to comment on the situation.

“Kash Patel was a key part of the first Trump administration’s efforts against the terrorist Iranian regime and will implement President Trump’s policies to protect America from adversaries as the FBI Director,” Trump transition spokesman Alex Pfeiffer told CNN.

In September, the DOJ charged three Iranians for allegedly hacking Trump’s campaign.

The DOJ alleges that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) employed Masoud Jalili, Seyyed Ali Aghamiri, and Yaser Balaghi to target and hack politicians, the media, and others associated with political campaigns.

All three have Iranian citizenship and live in Tehran.

They began targeting Trump’s campaign around May 2024. However, the government admitted Iran started targeting Trump after his administration killed Qasem Soleimani, the former commander of the IRGC Qods Force.

The government said the hackers tried to breach the Biden-Harris campaign, too.

Bonchie at RedState has my same thoughts: Weird how Iranian hackers keep hacking Trump and those associated with him.

It also didn’t shock me that Patel is the latest victim. The FBI doesn’t want Patel to take over the agency since he will likely implement reform and accountability. I’m glad Bonchie brought up the FBI targeting pro-lifers and Catholics, especially us who love the Latin Mass. We’re the domestic terrorists, remember?

“Iranian.” Sure, sure.

Wanna bet how much leaks to the US Media? What level of involvement does the FBI have with international affairs that would involve Iran? And if Iran is triggered by Patel, isn’t that a reason to confirm him?

From what little I’ve been able to glean from this situation, Kash was the subject of this administration’s grabbing of his Gmail account contents, I think from a National Security Letter? (correct me if I’m wrong) It would be entirely plausible that the current intelligence employees (who hate him for exposing the Russiagate hoax) would then leak selected out-of-context bits to the media and claim they were from Iranian hacks. This is *exactly* what the FBI did to Republicans they disliked during security reviews. They’d find a fake story or two in the applicant’s background, leak it to the press, and use the resulting news story as ‘confirmation’ so they could deny a security clearance.

Iran doesn’t have to hack Biden. Hunter will sell them all the information they want for the right price

Sure Iran has lots to lose if Kash becomes FBI director. I had everything they could lose on the tip of my tongue, but now lost what it was. But I’m sure nobody has more to lose than Iran

Patel is already taking flak. He must be over the target.

The bigger the potential for a nominee being a truly disruptive force the more BS will appear. Oh look at these anonymous sources making unsubstantiated claims quoted in a legacy media organ friendly to the establishment followed by more BS ‘background’ claims that behind the scenes some GoP Senators are ‘concerned’ ..

Nope no one is falling for your weak sauce character assassination attempts after the circus of Kavanaugh. If you have 1st hand claims go on record. Produce the evidence. Innuendo doesn’t cut it, no contemporary policy report? No dice. ‘Hacked accounts’ surface as soon as a nomination is made? Get out of here with that bush league crap. Unless it involves minor children on bad faith timing alone I don’t care what you find in hacked/leaked communications, the hacking victim gets instant absolution due to the obvious attempts to derail their nomination.

When do the former U.S. Intel folks publish a letter smearing Patel, his family members or past associates? What are they waiting for?

Another good reminder that you should definitely only be using communication apps that offer end-to-end encryption. There are a lot of text message alternatives out there. But, there aren’t nearly as many call encryption options and even for those that are available, the efficacy of the publicly available encryption protocols is questionable. Of course, this all presumes that like China, Iran has penetrated the carrier security net. If they’ve actually installed spyware on his specific phone, end-to-end encryption becomes FAR less effective.

Not suggesting you do but I think accepting at face value that this was not perpetrated by US gov’t is naive. The 3 letter agencies do not want Patel as FBI Director.

These “Iranian” attacks seem to be conveniently going after those that would expose domestic enemies. Seems really fishy….definitely not halaal.

Iranian, my ass! It’s most likely the CIA or FBI!
