New York City prosecutors charged Luigi Mangione with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
The murder complaint remains sealed.
Mangione also faces criminal possession of a weapon (loaded firearm), possession of a forged instrument, and criminal possession of a weapon (firearm silencer).
Mangione remains in Pennsylvania, where cops arrested him after a person recognized him at a McDonald’s.
The cops found fake IDs, a gun, and a silencer. Mangione also had a manifesto that supposedly hated corporate America and the healthcare industry for putting profits over patients.
Fox News reported it, saying: “These parasites had it coming. I do apologize for any strife and trauma, but it had to be done.”
A law enforcement agent said Mangione “refused to talk” after cops arrested him.
(Good. Do not ever speak to law enforcement without a lawyer, whether you’re guilty or innocent. Not one word.)
mangione’s family said they couldn’t locate him for months earlier this year.
The San Francisco Standard reported Mangione’s mother, Kathleen, reported him missing in November:
New York police officials described Mangione as born and raised in Maryland, with ties to San Francisco, and said he lived until recently in Honolulu. He is related to a Republican lawmaker in the Maryland state government and attended Baltimore’s Gilman School, where he was valedictorian of his graduating class in 2016.Mangione’s connection to San Francisco remains unknown, but public records suggest he may have relatives in the city. The shooter is suspected of wearing a backpack designed in San Francisco. In a statement posted to Facebook Monday night, the family said it is “devastated” by the news about Luigi.“Unfortunately, we cannot comment on news reports regarding Luigi Mangione. We only know what we have read in the media,” the statement read. “Our family is shocked and devastated by Luigi’s arrest. We offer our prayers to the family of Brian Thompson and we ask people to pray for all involved.”
