Jordan Peterson Slams Liberal Mindset of Treating Criminals as Victims
“It’s dangerous to interfere in a violent situation and you have to be a bit of a hero to do it”
Dr. Jordan Peterson, the right-leaning Canadian psychologist and professor, recently appeared on FOX News to discuss the ‘Daniel Penny Effect.’ This is the idea that people will be less likely to help another person in need for fear that they will end up in trouble. No good deed goes unpunished, as the old saying goes.
Peterson suggests that the heart of this problem is the left’s tendency to treat criminals as victims instead of actual crime victims.

Jordan Peterson breaks down ‘Daniel Penny Effect,’ torches liberal mindset of treating criminals as ‘victims’
Author and psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson analyzed the influence of the “Daniel Penny Effect” on people’s willingness to put themselves at risk to help others following Penny being found not guilty in New York.
“I think that’s a good example of someone acting in accordance with his character,” Peterson said of Daniel Penny, a 26-year-old Marine veteran and architecture student who confronted a 30-year-old homeless man with schizophrenia who barged onto the train shouting death threats while high on a type of synthetic marijuana known as K2.
“It’s dangerous to interfere in a violent situation and you have to be a bit of a hero to do it and obviously Penny is in that category and that’s something that’s deeply characteristic of him,” Peterson told “The Ingraham Angle.”…
Peterson spoke about the “Daniel Penny Effect” as a result of Penny’s treatment by the justice system in New York City. He argued that while he does not believe that people will act substantially different as a result of Penny’s case, he still said the the political left in the U.S. wrongly believes in the “victim status of criminals.”

This recent tweet from Peterson is unrelated to his appearance on FOX News but seems appropriate to include here.
We’re all shaped by our challenges, but we’re also defined by how we respond to them.

While all of Peterson’s points are well made, it is worth noting that when a woman was recently set on fire in the NYC subway by an illegal immigrant, there was no Daniel Penny type figure to step in and rescue her. Is there any wonder why?

Of course they’re victims. They’re black. And they are victims of white people. That’s self-reenforcing from every narrative angle.
So says the chief victim of the world.
In fact, blacks are primarily the victims of black people. If the people who pretend to care about these communities really cared, they would want these criminals off the streets and the communities safe. By the way, the same goes for the abysmal, ghetto public schools relative to School Choice.
On a per capita basis, blacks are harming people of other races at a far higher rate than whites harm blacks.
I think they’re harming themselves at an even higher rate.
“the left’s tendency to treat criminals as victims instead of actual crime victims.”
Simple — because criminals are the Democrats’ REAL constituents — and you aren’t.
When I was in my teens, the rumor went around that police are less responsive to civilian calls for help because the drug dealers and associated thugs pay better than the police department does. Henrybowman’s is a reverse of this view: The the Dems are willing to offer the thugs more than they offer to the normal citizenry. Food for thought…
I hate this terrible mislabeling. It is NOT “The Daniel Penny Effect”, it’s “The Alvin Bragg Effect”. Penny was only the latest person to be attacked by Alvin Bragg for trying to defend himself (or others) against an obviously deranged criminal. The first big story about this was the bodego clerk who had to fight for his life against the scumbag thief who came after him with a knife and his dirtbag girlfriend, and then had Bragg attempt to put him away for murder. Then Bragg pulled the same sh*t with another guy. And there was more. Penny was only the last one and the one to be brought through the whole insane trial. And all this was after a whole year of Bragg’s made-up Soviet show trial against President Trump.
This is “THE ALVIN BRAGG EFFECT”. Bragg’s name is attached to this dissolution of society in the city because this was, and is, Bragg’s goal. Daniel Penny was just the latest innocent (and a hero) to come into the cross hairs of the heinous criminal Alvin Bragg and the lowlife dirtbags in the DA’s office.
I agree heartily. But you’ll never get the public to go along.
See, everybody knows the name of the hometown hero and legend Daniel Penny.
But Alvin Bragg is just another run-of-the-mill piece of Democrast s*.
Yep. It’s far easier to reference MR Penny and his ordeal to illustrate the point that there is likely to be a hesitation to ‘get involved’ v explaining who the heck Alvin Bragg is and why that’s important.
Who here remembers Diana Moon Glampers?
Well, besides me.
The entirety of the victim hood culture should be rejected. No rewards and no punishment based on sex, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or anything else other than individual actions.
I suppose the leftists are rushing to defend the illegal immigrant who burned someone to death in the subway–and I suppose most of them don’t take the subway, so they don’t care
He’s not black, so that cuts the participation right there.
