Trump Picks North Dakota Gov. Burgum as Interior Secretary, Chairman of New National Energy Council

The National Energy Council includes “all Departments and Agencies involved in the permitting, production, generation, distribution, regulation, transportation, of ALL forms of American Energy.”

President-elect Donald Trump chose North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum as his Department of the Interior secretary and chairman of the new National Energy Council.

Trump said in an email:

I am thrilled to announce that Doug Burgum, the Governor of North Dakota, will be joining my Administration as both Secretary of the Interior and, as Chairman of the newly formed, and very important, National Energy Council, which will consist of all Departments and Agencies involved in the permitting, production, generation, distribution, regulation, transportation, of ALL forms of American Energy. This Council will oversee the path to U.S. ENERGY DOMINANCE by cutting red tape, enhancing private sector investments across all sectors of the Economy, and by focusing on INNOVATION over longstanding, but totally unnecessary, regulation. With U.S. Energy Dominance, we will drive down Inflation, win the A.I. arms race with China (and others), and expand American Diplomatic Power to end Wars all across the World.

Trump announced the appointment at the America First Policy Institute gala:

“He’s going to be announced [Friday]…I look forward to doing the formal announcement, although this is a pretty big announcement right now, actually,” Trump said during his speech at the America First Policy Institute gala at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday. “He’s going to head the Department of Interior, and he’s going to be fantastic.”

“We’re going to reduce regulation waste, fraud and inefficiency,” Trump said. “We’re going to clean out the corrupt, broken and failing bureaucracies. And we’re going to stop child sexual mutilation. We’re going to stop it because it’s time.”

Burgum tried to run for president but dropped out in December 2023.

He endorsed Trump in January before the Iowa caucuses.

I don’t think he will be a barn burner and do all the things I would want to see done in this role.

But he will be solid, coming from a state that is heavily invested in oil and gas and experienced first hand the anti fossil fuel crowd

Enjoying all these picks so far

Can’t wait to see Congress declare a one day recess in January and like 274 recess appointments happen at once

It’s gonna be 🔥

At least Burgum comes from the actual ‘interior’..

Stopping capital outflow for energy is essential to make our economy healthy.

FWIW:

……”in a June 26, 2014, opinion, the U.S. Supreme Court held that the President’s recess appointment
power extends to both intersession and intrasession recesses, but that essentially the recess must
be 10 days or longer in duration”

    Good catch.

I can wait for 10 days for them to return while they all get appointed lol

And if we have a real party of Trump supporters they will be drafting legislation while on recess, ready to get started when they return

The real catch is whether Johnson will go along with it or not. A Recess of longer than 3 days must be agreed to by both chambers. It would be unprecedented for both chambers to agree to a recess for the specific reason of letting a President do recess appointments for people that can not get through the confirmation process. Considering some of crap Pelosi did, however, they may go for it but that might also come right back to haunt Republicans in the not too distant future

Tell them they all have the new improved version of covid and must quarantine for 14 days. That should do it. And, it would serve the bastards right.

Oil and natural gas production can be ramped up pretty quickly, but the left will fight like honey badgers to block it at every turn.

More than any other thing, plentiful, inexpensive energy, kills rampant inflation.

Unlike printing money propping up the stock market and the 1%, oil and gas extraction, as well as mining , logging and agriculture CREATE wealth.

Bottom up wealth, as with manufacturing that takes a low-value commodity and turns it into a high value one.

Why the parasite class wants to rule over a dystopian country of poor miserable peasants baffles me.
