Sadly, California Voted to Send Adam Schiff to the U.S. Senate

Sadly, California Voted to Send Adam Schiff to the U.S. Senate

A review of the status of critical California congressional district races that will hopefully insulate this nation from Schiff’s anti-Trump delusions.

Legal Insurrection readers may recall that when then-US Senator Barbara Boxer retired from office eight years ago, I noted that Kamala Harris would be worse.

And I was right.

Now, we are likely to look back more favorably on Senator Dianne Feinstein, as her replacement is Burbank’s congressman, Adam Schiff. Unfortunately, President Donald Trump’s coattails could not extend to this race.

His victory speech was as restrained and filled with humility as you would expect from Schiff.

The Associated Press declared Schiff, 64, the winner shortly after polls closed, an indication of the congressman’s substantial support in a state where Democratic voters outnumber Republicans by nearly 2 to 1.

“I will spend every day trying to repay the trust that you have placed in me by serving this Golden State with all of my heart and soul,” Schiff told a crowd of supporters gathered at the California Democratic Party event in downtown Los Angeles.

With returns from the East Coast and Midwest showing that Republicans were on track to retake control of the U.S. Senate, Schiff cast himself as a protector of the causes that Californians hold dear.

“I am committed to taking on the big fights to protect our freedoms and to protect our democracy,” Schiff said. “California will continue to be at the forefront of progress, the bulwark of democracy, the champion of innovation and the protector of our rights and freedoms.”

As a reminder, Schiff played a central role in the first impeachment of President Donald Trump, serving as the lead prosecutor for the House of Representatives. He accused Trump of betraying national security and compromising elections, all based on hoax evidence that had people demanding Schiff resign.

Schiff promoted allegations from the Steele dossier, which was later discredited. He allegedly abused his position and access to classified information to make false claims about evidence of collusion. Schiff continued to assert collusion even after investigations, including Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s, did not establish a criminal conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Finally, in June 2023, the House of Representatives formally censured Schiff for his role in the Russia investigation. The censure resolution accused him of “misleading the American public and abusing his position”.

Hopefully, as the Junior Senator from California, Schiff’s attempts to derail Trump 47’s agenda will be mitigated.

On a more positive note, I would like to take a look at a few California congressional races that will hopefully go in such a way that will ensure senseless impeachment hearings do not occur during Trump’s next four years in office.

California District 27: Republican incumbent Mike Garcia is locked in a tight race with Democratic challenger George Whitesides. While the race was too close to call on election night, Garcia has previously won this seat in three consecutive elections since 20201. This district, which includes parts of northern Los Angeles County, has become more competitive for Democrats in recent years due to redistricting and changing demographics. Currently, Garcia has 51.2% of the vote with 67% of the votes counted, so this looks promising.

District 41: In California’s 41st Congressional District, Republican incumbent Ken Calvert is in a close contest with Democrat Will Rollins. Calvert, the longest-serving GOP member of California’s congressional delegation, has held this seat since 1993. The race is too close to call (Calvert is at 50.5 with 70% of the vote counted), reflecting recent redistricting that added more liberal areas like Palm Springs.

District 45: Republican incumbent Michelle Steel appears to have a strong lead in California’s 45th Congressional District While final results were not available, Steel has 52.5% of the vote with 66% currently tallied.

District 13: Republican incumbent John Duarte and Democrat Adam Gray are facing off for the second time. Two years ago, Gray lost to Duarte by only 564 votes. Presently, Duarte has 51.4% with 48% counted.

It will be awhile before some of these outcomes are known. The process of counting and certifying votes in California often takes several days or even weeks after Election Day.

Hopefully the final results will further insulate this nation from Schiff’s anti-Trump delusions.

Of all the vile scumbags involved in the “Russia Collusion” hoax, this piece of pond scum is the vilest of them all. He repeatedly lied, bald faced, to the American public, stating that his position on the Intelligence Committee allowed him to see information that the general public didn’t have which proved that Trump colluded with Russia. No such information ever existed. The damage that he did to the country is incalculable.

He is a lying c*nt and a traitor whose head should be on a pike.

I believed word he used was irrefutable evidence in the Russian pee tapes he swore this to Congress

    diver64 in reply to Paul. | November 7, 2024 at 9:55 am

I’ve got no words as to explain what the hell California is thinking putting this walking clown show into office again.

ArmyStrong in reply to Paul. | November 8, 2024 at 9:07 am

If Cruz becomes the majority leader of the Senate I hope he conducts a full investigation of all the lies this clown Schiff has pushed during the impeachment hoaxes and the rest of his pathetic rein in Congress.

Unfortunately Schiff cynically made use of the “Speech and Debate” clause of the Constitution that protects legislators relative to things they say during a Congressional session.

The first paragraph of Article 1, Section 6 says:

“The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States. They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other
      Place.”

With control of the levers of government, the R’s should pad a federal election law mandating:
1) A government issued ID to vote
2) That States must have there counts completed within 24hrs of the polls closing.

One wonders if California should be annexed with too much scum in the same deplorable place. His district and all others of the same ilk should be pushed deep into the Pacific and all the people who bring anti-American actions to the forefront with it

    California…Gaza west.
Round up illegals, place them there and wall it off from the rest of the country. Let them eat cake.

Adam Schiff. Not even Elon Musk could design a toilet capable of flushing that man out of our lives.

I wonder if they can still censure him now that there is a Republican majority over his lying in the House during the impeachments?

The Gentle Grizzly | November 7, 2024 at 7:57 am

I expected nothing less from the five county Bay area voting block combined with Los Angeles county and Sacramento county. Disappointed? No. I just expected this for

This is true. But once you get outside these counties and areas, Californians are pretty much just like you and me. A lot of farmers, ranchers, small business owners, entrepreneurs, and regular people who have good jobs and love the weather and magnificent beauty of the state. ,

Schiff remains, a turd forever clinging to the bottom of America’s shoes.

E Howard Hunt | November 7, 2024 at 8:01 am

Is it something cultural or religious? Schumer and Schiff are both brilliant Harvard lawyers, but have spent their lives acting the part of lying scumbags to secure career advancement, consolidate power and push any lefty agenda that would hurt the broad middle class.

These are very bad men, but they are not stupid or delusional.

alaskabob in reply to E Howard Hunt. | November 7, 2024 at 10:54 am

In the court of law and court of public opinions, lawyers are not only allowed but encouraged to lie. What sets some apart isn’t legal “ethics” but moral foundation. Schiff is skimming his 10% in the form of power and privilege .

Schiff is like that one turd that, no matter how many times you flush, just refuses to go down the drain.

California and New York have produced many of these monsters, and I’m from both places. My district in California has also had some of the worst.

Eric Swalwell was my rep and he too made up lies about Trump claiming to have seen incriminating classified documents which he hadn’t because they don’t exist. I attended many of his constituent meetings and I can say from personal experience his constituents love him. The meetings are lovefests. He will outright lie in front of everyone and to me personally. After the meeting he would run to his car and take off to avoid questions. I got into big shouting matches with his staff in the parking lot.

I had many of the worst as my reps: Fortney Stark, Ellen Taucher, Gerald McNerney, and so on. Taucher was a complete ignoramus. She held the position of Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security after leaving the House. She didn’t know that the US does NOT have a policy of No first Use. Yikes. Rumsfeld corrected her in a open meeting. Her response: “I read it in the Los Angles Times, and as a Californian I have to believe it.” (not an exact quote, but very close). Astonishing how someone in that position could be so ignorant of basic facts about arms control.

That’s our government. A collection of liars, cheats, idiots, incompetents. Sorry democracy is a terrible system, and they all eventually fail.

Agree. But, let’s not ignore voter fraud. I suspect NY would have been Trump’s were it not for the fraud likely in NY [https://auditny.com/]

Separately, now with DJT’s mandate and a RNC (hopefully) refocused on the Constitution, the Republican Governors (regardless of whether Congress is Republican controlled in whole or only part) should caucus and initiate an Article. V. application solely to repeal the Seventeenth Amendment, and restore the “federal republic”.

I expect the governors could present it to Congress as a potential fait accompli, in a “wrapper”, perhaps with 27 state legislatures having ratified [and possibly 11 demonrat governors and their legislatures would see political advantage in having direct control over their state’s US Senators]; such a strategy would make a convention more procedural and mitigate the risk of a runaway convention.

All sitting senators could complete their existing terms.

Repealing the 17th seems more viable and appropriate than attempting term limits.

By winning, he has actually lost.

Imagine being Schiff. All he has ever craved is power. He’s as ugly as a mole rat so Hollywood is out of the question; the only alternative is politics.

He must have had delusions of grandeur watching Barbara Boxer reach room temperature. He’ll win her seat, his party will defeat that bad orange man and he’ll be part of an ever expanding majority! Woohoo!

But look at what happened. Now instead of being one of 438 and in the majority, he’s now one of 100 in the minority, the trifecta held by the opposing party whose leader was nearly murdered during the campaign.

If Adam Schiff has a brain in his head, he’ll stay in his office with his fool mouth shut.

“If Adam Schiff has a brain in his head, he’ll stay in his office with his fool mouth shut.”

You are giving him too much credit!!

ChrisPeters in reply to Peter Moss. | November 7, 2024 at 10:06 am

Sadly, he is likely to hold that seat for a long time, and the country will have to endure his lies and nonsense through sessions of minority and, eventually, majority.

He will always be a certain vote for Democrat/Leftist/Marxist policies.

Long time in office likely – Yes.

      Political ideology – No; none.

Raw intelligence – likely far above average.

Regardless, Schiff is a fundamentally flawed human being – he is obviously psychotic and should be in an mental health setting for his own protection and that of society. [As should many others in national politics and government.]

I was shocked to learn, yesterday, that illegal aliens are counted in the federal census that shapes both state electoral vote and congressional seat apportioning. This fact results in the dilution of citizens’ votes and political power, by “blue” states that welcome hordes of illegal aliens. It is estimated that California possesses eight more Congressional reps than it otherwise would have, if illegal aliens didn’t artificially inflate its population numbers for the purposes of congressional apportionment.

This is simply outrageous and indefensible, but, it lends clarity to one of the myriad reasons why the vile, evil and lawless Dhimmi-crats are such gleeful enablers of and facilitators of open borders and an illegal alien invasion.

Milhouse in reply to guyjones. | November 7, 2024 at 9:37 am

It is explicitly required by the constitution.

guyjones in reply to Milhouse. | November 7, 2024 at 9:54 am

I understand that. I’m still criticizing the deleterious outcome that such counting produces. This needs to be addressed.

      diver64 in reply to Milhouse. | November 7, 2024 at 10:07 am

No it is not. The courts have interpreted it that way but it is not explicitly spelled out that way

        Milhouse in reply to diver64. | November 7, 2024 at 7:28 pm

Yes, it is explicitly spelled out. “Counting the whole number of persons in each state”. The only exception is “Indians not taxed”, of which there aren’t any nowadays. Every other person is included.

mailman in reply to guyjones. | November 7, 2024 at 10:53 am

California has also made it illegal to ask for ID when voting. Still need ID for every other facet of life but voting is a different story!

DaveGinOly in reply to mailman. | November 7, 2024 at 12:07 pm

Here in WA State, the Republican after-election party was open to anyone. The Democrat’s after-election party was invitation only, and they checked IDs at the door.

Milhouse in reply to mailman. | November 7, 2024 at 7:39 pm

Their explanation is that all the purposes for which ID is required are not rights, so it’s OK to be denied them if you have no ID, but voting is a right, and you can’t strip someone of their rights just because they have no ID.

Of course if the Slaughterhouse Cases had gone the other way, the right to employment would be recognized as protected by the Privileges and Immunities clause, But they didn’t, so there’s no constitutionally protected right to employment, so it’s OK to require ID.

Also of course, but few people notice this, there is actually no constitutionally protected right to vote. Until the 15th amendment was made, states were completely free to decide who could vote. Since then the 15th, 19th, 24th, and 26th amendments limit the states’ power in this regard. They can still restrict the franchise, but not on certain specific grounds. Possession of ID is not one of those grounds, so states are still free to restrict the franchise to those who do possess it. But even people familiar with the constitution tend not to notice this, and are convinced that it protects a “right to vote”.

SeekingRationalThought | November 7, 2024 at 8:50 am

I started to write that Californians are stupid. They are, but this goes beyond stupid and goes all the way to a lack of self-respect, perhaps even nihilism and self-hatred. Californians, as a group and with some exceptions, are hurting pups and are best avoided.

2smartforlibs | November 7, 2024 at 8:55 am

I’m sure the 14 to 20 million vote Matressback didn’t get all voted for pencil neck.

Don’t lose sight of the fact that as of 0900 on Election Day +2, California has only counted an embarrassingly low 60% of the vote. A lot of people will look at that and say, ‘So what. CA was never in doubt.’ While that’s true for President and Schiff’s race, that’s clearly not true for the House. The longer any government takes to count vote, the larger the opportunity to massage those vote counts. If you don’t think California would do anything to keep the GOP from winning the House, you haven’t been paying attention. We’re seeing similar dysfunction in OR and WA.

fogflyer in reply to TargaGTS. | November 7, 2024 at 9:50 am

That is exactly what I was just telling my wife.
Even though the odds of a GOP house are being reported at 90%, the Dems will pull every stunt they can to steal those west coast seats and they have plenty of time to figure out how.

As for me, I am happy to say I close on a house in W. Virginia in two weeks and I will be leaving California before Schiff becomes the senator. Bittersweet, but I will happy to see this wreck of a state in the rear view mirror soon.

Republicans should give Schiff-for-brains just one committee assignment. Make him the junior minority member on the select subcommittee for navel lint.

its time for the senate to vote to refuse to seat Schiff. At a minimum they should censer him and prevent him from speaking on the floor of congress.

Milhouse in reply to starride. | November 7, 2024 at 7:44 pm

They can’t refuse to seat him, unless they genuinely believe he was not validly elected, which obviously they don’t. Nor can they deny him any of the privileges of a senator, including speaking.

Forget it Leslie: It’s Chinatown California.

Why wouldn’t they, it’s California

This actually may be a good thing. Put him on the basket weaving committee. I don’t think Schiff will get to pull the same shenanigans as he has in the house.
