NE Sen. Independent Candidate Osborn: ‘I Do Not Plan to Caucus With Either Party’

If Dan Osborn wins, the Republicans will lose a seat regardless of whether he caucuses with the Democrats or not.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer seems to think the Democrats will hold the majority and even pick up some seats.

Schumer even mentioned Nebraska Independent candidate Dan Osborn:

“We have decent chances of picking up three seats,” Schumer told Democrats during a virtual rally with the Jewish Democratic Council of America in support of Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz’s campaign.

“We’re even in Texas. We’re a point or two behind in Nebraska. We’re only three points behind in Florida,” the New York Democrat said in a video obtained by Fox News Digital.

“So we have – we’re right on the edge of keeping the Senate, of winning the House, keeping the presidency,” Schumer continued.

Well, Osborn repeated himself for Schumer:

“I’m a true Independent, and I’ve said over and over again that I do not plan to caucus with either party,” Osborn said in a statement.

“I’ve never spoken to Chuck Schumer, and he is going to be in for a rude awakening if he thinks I’m taking orders from him or anyone in DC. My opponent Deb Fischer does whatever Mitch McConnell tells her to. That’s what’s wrong with Washington. We need an independent who will stand up to the party bosses and stop playing politics so we can finally secure the border, pass a farm bill, and serve the country instead of special interests,” he added.

The Independents in the Senate caucus with the Democrats, which is the only reason why the party has the majority.

I mean, if Osborn wins, the Republicans will lose a seat regardless of whether he caucuses with the Democrats or not.

However, it appears Schumer and other Democrats have been trying to strong-arm Osborn to caucus with the Democrats.

The Fox News article about it got me thinking about Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), a man obsessed with “dark money.” But only dark money associated with conservatives!

If Osborn wins and truly remains independent, will Whitehouse unleash his anger on him?

A group tied to George Soros gave Osborn’s campaign a hefty amount:

One of the main groups spending on behalf of Osborn is Retire Career Politicians, which has gotten $800,000 from the controversial dark money group, the Sixteen Thirty Fund, in a matter of months.

The Sixteen Thirty Fund notoriously keeps its donors’ identities a secret, but it has notably received more than $75 million in grants from Soros’ Open Society Foundations between 2016 and 2022, according to Open Society Foundations’ website.

Whitehouse might not since the group has Soros links. If he chose that route, he would have to attack many of his colleagues who received money from Soros.

Oh, who am I kidding? Of course, no one would call out Whitehouse!

Can Osborn beat incumbent Deb Fischer? It’s possible. Osborn has been trying to appeal to both sides, even penning an op-ed at Fox News Digital.

Cook Political changed the race from Likely R to Lean R last month.

FiveThirtyEight has Fischer winning 46.6% and 44.2%.

An Osborn victory doesn’t even mean he’ll split his votes down the middle. For all we know, he could end up like Bernie or AOC. It wouldn’t matter if he doesn’t caucus for either party.

A person frustrated with Democrats and Republicans doesn’t mean they’re a libertarian like me. The person could be far left.

I know I bring this up a lot, but when I was a far-leftist, I registered as an independent. When I changed, I kept my registration as an independent.

(I changed my registration to libertarian in 2016 when Oklahoma recognized the party. I do not belong to the Libertarian Party, though.)

Independents caucus with a party to get committee assignments. Bernie Sanders is the current chairman of the Senate Budget Committee because of it. Unless Osborn’s hoping to play kingmaker in a 50-50 or even 51-49 Senate with both sides courting his good favor by dangling desirable committee spots in front of him, as a true independent he’ll be relying on the kindness of Schumer and/or whoever is elected to replace McConnell to give him a seat on a committee, any committee, because he won’t be entitled to anything.

Correct. He will be a small boat out in a storm. He won’t get committee assignments, his legislation will be DOA, and he will check his balls at the door when he gets an office located west of Bumfuck, Nowheristan.

He’ll be so far removed, it will take him a week to get to the Senate Chambers.

I give him less than a month and he will cave.

He’s a liar.

Just like Bernie pretending to be an ‘independent’.

everyone (secretly or not) loves capitalism

but then the sickness of lying to ones self and others is paramount in denouncing it

“I’m a true Independent, and I’ve said over and over again that I do not plan to caucus with either party,” Osborn said in a statement.

i.e. ‘There are times when I am going to be fully supportive of the Communist scum looking to destroy America and bring pain and suffering to Americans.’

This guy is a democrat operative run by the party to take a seat on the stealth. He is as much an Independent at Bernie Sanders.
The Dems have run a bunch of these guys and gals. Voting across parties where they can in states to get them in then pushing them forward.
