Liz Cheney Threat Hoax: Media “Just Outright Lying” And “Just Making Stuff Up”

My hot take on the false media claim that Trump threstened to have Liz Cheney shot: “this is as bad as I’ve ever seen it.”

Today was one of the worst examples of media fraud and election manipulatoin I can recall. They took a video of Trump calling Liz Cheney someone who loves to send other people to war but wouldn’t hold up if the guns were pointed at her, and turned it into a death threat and threat to execute her.

It was completely made up. There was nothing to it, yet the legacy media ran with it and then the Harris campaign amped it up.

Here’ is my hot take, excerpted from our full podcast today:

Transcript (auto-generated, may contain transcription errors, lightly edited for transcript clarity)

It’s as bad as I’ve ever seen. I mean, we have outright manipulation. W

e have another incident today where people like Kassie Hunt at CNN are just outright lying about something that Trump said.

Trump was being interviewed, I think it was by Tucker Carlson at one of the events. And he made a statement very similar to what Democrats have made during the Bush years, essentially accusing people of being chickenhawks, that they’re really brave when they’re not the ones doing the fighting.

And so he says, basically, she’s one of these ultra hawks, but I don’t think she would be that way if she actually had the guns pointed at her. From that, you have the media and the left wing media, but also places like CNN, [claiming] Trump calls for Cheney to be shot.

It’s just factually false. That’s not what he said.

So this is as bad as I’ve ever seen it. They are hiding things. They’re changing transcripts, they’re lying about things.

Really, I’ve come back to this on prior shows, you know that saying ‘you don’t hate the media enough’? You really don’t. I mean, these are bad people. These are people who are manipulating our political system.

And as Kemberlee said, it’s not a little bit of bias. Yes, wverybody’s got a little bit of bias. We’ve got it. Conservative media has it. Everybody’s got their own perspective.

They’re just making stuff up. That’s what’s so crazy. I really don’t think we have a fair election system given the media.

Jeff Bezos, explaining what he’s doing at The Washington Post said the media is not trusted anymore. And he was doing an explanation in terms of The Washington Post and why they’re not going endorse this year. And that if Trump wins, that will be a devastating blow to the legacy media and it will be. And they deserve it. They deserve every bit of it.

They’re terrible people who are manipulating our system.

The mainstream media are truly the Enemy of The People.

The media spreading the disinformation know it’s a lie. Some actually believe they are doing journalism. But what does it say about consumers of media that would believe the actual garbage thrown at them, time and again? It’s surreal.

All the progressives I know are mere headline readers and listeners. They have no interest in actually reading anything beyond the headlines, because this would not stoke their outrage. Any “research” they might do is just re-reading Trump is Literally Hitler in long format.

They are highly manipulable because of this, which is just as their leaders want it. And quite likely, any democrat who DID develop a taste for looking beyond the headlines would abandon their progressive religion quickly

You can turn it up to 11. But at some point the machinery is going to blow up. And with it, the country.

Mollie Hemingway calls on Jonah Goldberg to recant – Jonah then flails about on Mount Non-Apology – and is carried away in the ensuing avalanche of mockery.

“Now try apologizing for real, where you don’t blame the victim of your lies”

It’s not a mystery. They want women’s votes.

I don’t know why you were down voted. Maybe it is just tradition. The gist of your point is correct as the fake black woman campaign won’t be getting much of the male vote.

“They’re terrible people who are manipulating our system.”

Yes. Yes, they are.
Truly, we don’t hate them nearly enough.

Well, if your work on the economy brought about an increase of only 12,000 jobs for the entire country, wouldn’t YOU be lying about Trump’s comments, too?

Ironclaw in reply to ChrisPeters. | November 2, 2024 at 5:23 am

Uhh, it’s worse than that because that 12,000 is all government jobs that don’t create any value in the economy. 28,000 private sector jobs that do create value in the economy were lost while 40,000 government jobs that steal from the economy were created,

People should stop subscribing to progressive fascist media.

As I see it, the Dim media puppet-masters, (the ones who decide what the talking-heads are to say), are either stupid enough to believe that bovine-splat or they are shameless liars who see their audience as stupid enough to believe it.

What amazes me is that those among the Dim media’s audience who like to see themselves as smart put up with that torrent of BS, year after year. That’s enough to make me think they are not smart after all.

We all agree that it’s fraud, knowingly presenting outright lies as fact, but can there be any legal consequences for doing so?

Does this strike you as the behaviour of people who believe they are leading the election with early voters? 🤔

Ironclaw in reply to mailman. | November 2, 2024 at 5:25 am

No, it doesn’t. The dems act like they’re miserable, which is not too unsual because they always seem like they’re unusual unless they’re murdering babies or pulling the wings off of birds. Meanwhile the MAGA crowd is having fun with this all, the most popular costume last night by far was garbage bags.

At the same time, if Big Don has said ti this way:

“Imagine if Liz Cheney had to go fight the wars she is always yelling for, and risk getting shot. Getting shot is no fun, I can tell you, Liz.”

Cheney, not Big Don, would have had to face the uproar then.

The “rifles” comment is far from the worst. The Capehart-Marcus lie that made Hugh Hewitt resign was much worse> Here were two prominent liberal bigots spinning the truth 180 degrees into liberal propaganda. Hewitt and an oh-so-convenient technical breakdown stopped them, but at the price of Hewiit’s having to resign. Capehart and Marcus will be back soon, lying as usual.

“ . . . made” Hewitt resign? He should have done it years ago, years ago, although the drama was good. He’s awfully late to the party. Sorry, but my cynicism is off the charts. We are in deep trouble.

leoamery in reply to Owego. | November 2, 2024 at 1:39 pm

Anyone can tell you’ve never tried to persuade undecideds, let alone those who oppose you, to vote for your candidate.

Your cynicism is cheap and unearned. Tell us what you’ve done this year to get Big Don elected. I will grant that you may have voted for him. Did you phonebank, as I did today? Attend events? Walk turfs, knocking on doors? Write letters to the editor? Are you going to give rides to the polls for those without transportation on Election Day?

Your likely answers to these questions are likely to send reader cynicism off the charts. no wonder you post under a pseudonym.

I’ll stick with Hewitt, who has earned his high reputation

She’s got nothing to actually offer the American people. The economy sucks, the border is a disaster, crime is out of control and none of looks to get better any time soon because she’s said she would have done nothing differently. Trying to cause outrage is all she’s got.

The dangerous part today is many people get their ‘news’ only from curated sources. As a Gen X member I recall the days before CNN when there were 3 network news + PBS and the local paper, before talk radio emerged, before the internet.

Everyone got the same basic national stories and while there was a difference between the OP ED page of the WSJ and the LA Times it was more one of nuanced degree than diametrically opposed views. Today we have folks whose info intake is incredibly insular. Not confined to the leftists either some on the center/right seem just as parochial.

IMO the danger is we can’t even agree on what the facts are. Until we do that we can’t ID the problems or even hold a discussion to get a sense of their scope much less agree upon solutions. I suspect that more than a few of the Cray Cray policies that d/prog put forth aren’t widely accepted or understood b/c some folks refuse to give them credence. As an example the Trans issue, genital mutilation/sterilization via puberty blockers is probably viewed by some as Fox News/right wing propaganda.

Assuming Trump wins next week and the GoP gets Congressional majorities in HoR and Senate there are going to be some interesting times ahead as folks come to terms with the actual reality of it v dystopian nightmare they were fed by legacy media.

Yes, not being able to agree as to what the facts are in order to even begin a discussion is a terrible state,
Brought about by all who do not love truth but love lies.
Loving lies does not come from God.
Harris said it herself, those who fear God, and Truth, are not wanted.

This is a fundamental error. Yes, everyone got the same news — and that news was just as highly curated as it is today. It’s just that there was only one curated option available, and it was theirs. We had no way to get news that they didn’t think we needed to hear, or to get it spun any way but theirs. That was the era of Cronkite, which continued the era of Duranty. People thought Cronkite could be trusted, because there was no one to tell them about his lies.

Today’s situation is far from ideal, but it’s better than it was then.

I’m still mystified as to why Dems think Lizzie is going to pick up any votes for them.

The irony is that should Trump lose, these media outlets would have nothing to cover. How long would viewers tune in for Kamala news? Trump saved MSN and CNBC in 2016 and 2020. with Trump gone, those multimillion dollar “reporters” will soon be looking for work.

E Howard Hunt | November 2, 2024 at 8:35 am

Really? The worst? All this was made possible by the almost total news blackout and gaslighting surrounding Obama’s past. Why not run a senile old man, a cackling idiot and tell any lie after having installed a man in the White House with forged documents, and scrubbed and withheld records? Give me a break!

Trump is right. I remember an interview with John Bolton several years ago when he was advocating for US troops to be deployed in one of many foreign wars. The discussion then turned to Bolton’s son who may have been in college.

The interviewer asked Bolton if the military was a potential career for his son. Bolton answered dismissively that there was no chance that his son would consider the military and implied that military service was beneath him.

I will never forget that. I think it was a late-night interview with John Bachelor. I was extremely offended and realized conclusively that DC does not give a crap about the welfare of OUR sons and daughters.

    I don’t believe you.

First of all, when you say he “implied”, you’re admitting that he didn’t say it; and an “implication” is only in the listener’s mind. I don’t know what interview you’re referring to, but I’d bet that anyone listening who wasn’t already hostile to Bolton and looking to read in “implications” that weren’t there did not think this was at all implied.

Second, forgetting implications, it’s impossible that he even said the words you claim, or anything to that effect, because he has no sons.

This was nothing but a diversion from the terrible jobs report that came out Friday. Anyone with a brain knows that when you execute someone at a firing squad you do not give them a rifle. That is exactly what Trump said and the firing squad makes no sense. But the jobs report is devastating.

I called it. When I saw Trump calling Liz Cheney someone who loves to send other people to war, I told my wife the media was going to spin it to something negative on Trump.

destroycommunism | November 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm

lefty no lomnger controls the narrative

TRUMP DOES

AMERICA WINS but only is we stand with him and not allow the local politicians to turn small towns into leftist strongholds

looking at you fl/texas etc

It’s not just the “firing squad” distortion, concentrating on the lie allows the media to avoid the rest of Trump’s statement, calling out Cheney for being a hawk with no skin the game.

I honestly wouldn’t have a problem if he did say put her in front of a firing squad, I just find her that irritating and her voice is like a screeching chalkboard to me.

Another reason I didn’t have a problem with it is that I have so little faith in the legacy media and political discourse in general that I just presume whatever they say is only about 5% truth and 95% lie.

Of course I have so little faith in humanity at this point I look both ways and check for falling planes before crossing a dead end street.

Lets face it, if leftist had a brain the would take it out and play with it.
