Hilarity Ensues After Report on a Possible 2028 AOC Presidential Candidacy

Hilarity Ensues After Report on a Possible 2028 AOC Presidential Candidacy

Democrats are still reeling from the Election Day drubbing they took, and a closer look at the particulars gives one a better understanding as to why there’s so much fingerpointing taking place, so much second-guessing underway, and so much wailing and gnashing of teeth going on.

Not only did former President Donald Trump defeat VP Kamala Harris in both the Electoral College and the popular vote (winning all seven battleground states in the process), but four Senate seats flipped blue, giving Republicans firm control of the United States Senate. Republicans also appear poised to maintain control of the House, giving the red team a trifecta.

Eager to move beyond the failure of their undemocratic installment of Kamala Harris as their nominee in place of President Joe Biden to thwart another Trump presidency, speculation has already started as to who their 2028 contenders might be.

Among them is Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who, since bursting onto the scene in 2018 and becoming a media darling in the process, has become little more than just another entrenched Democrat face in the crowd:

When Democrats talk about the future of the party, the 35-year-old New York congresswoman’s name always bubbles to the top.

Democrats have long been impressed with Ocasio-Cortez’s ability to “cut through the BS and tell it like it is,” the second Democratic strategist said.

“She’s somebody who can cut through the noise and doesn’t talk like Washington.”

Democrats say Ocasio-Cortez would be a magnet for young voters and would have little trouble using social media, podcasts and other online tools, as she has been doing since she was elected to Congress in 2018.

While Ocasio-Cortez was once aligned with progressives including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), she has since backed more centrist candidates.

Still, some Democrats say she still represents a more leftist wing of the party to some voters, something that could hurt her if she pursues higher office.

“She and the ‘squad’ started pushing too hard, too fast,” the first strategist said. “D.C. doesn’t work that way. And our party doesn’t work that way. We need to get back to the basics.”

While some of the chatter on Twitter/X was that AOC was “considering/contemplating” a run, there’s no confirmation anywhere that she is, and the article didn’t suggest that, either.

That said, former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) says AOC has told people since 2019 that she’d be interested in running in 2028:

Either way, hilarity ensued in the aftermath of the story:

Some were even more optimistic:

Honestly, I don’t see it happening – but if it did, it’d be amusing to watch Gavin Newsom try to mow right over her and other high-profile candidates, including perhaps even Kamala Harris herself to get the seat he wanted in 2024 but didn’t.

It’s too early to be stocking up on the popcorn for 2028 but… Aww heck, it’s never too early to do that, because there are few things more hilarious and popcorn-worthy in politics than watching Democrats turn on each other, something we’ll probably be seeing even more of in the coming weeks and months.

She’s such an Imbecile

To the contrary, she was reportedly an expert Mixologist. She is a master of ‘cold beer’ and ‘gin and tonic’ (although admittedly it took her a while to conquer the G&T as she kept forgetting the ingredients and had to look it up in the recipe book).

Run Spot, Run.

I wouldn’t underestimate her. She seems able to, if not learn (she’s a socialist, afterall,) adapt. Media savvy and young, a first run in 2028, lose, and come back in 8 years with a more nuanced message.

AOC is a puppet/actor for hire, just like Biden. She’s the front for a Democrat policy group. She says what they tell her to say — just like Biden and Kamala — and if she happens to be in a situation where she has to say something on which she has had no talking point fed to her, it’s liable to be ludicrous and risible — just like Biden and Kamala.

As I posted elsewhere, the border between Government and Politics is now gated only at Charisma. There is no gate at Competence, not that any Democrat would be able to open it anyway. Politics is now 100% popularity contest — at least among Democrats — despite what your middle school vice principal taught you.

It would be stupid to underestimate her odds. She is a reasonably attractive woman, young ( by political standards) and will command loyalty from a fanatic base that will vote for her no matter what. I remember that when Barack Obama first came onto the scene there were doubters then

AOC has about as much chance of becoming president in 2028 as NASA has of doing a moon landing.

A leopard cannot change its spots. She’s a fake, and we are moving into a period where fake is death. The more she projects, the more it’s revealed. Good luck to AOC as she engages in the grift.

It used to the red and blue flipped between the parties every four years and it wasn’t until Bush II and “Voters had had a temper tantrum.” that red stuck with the GOP.

Guess it had to do with red signaling anger and blue being calming. Rather laughable in light of which party riots and yells, but here we are.

“She’s somebody who can cut through the noise and doesn’t talk like Washington.”

No. She talks like 6th grade.

She’s like a Kardashian, famous for being famous.

Would be interesting, watching her run with a little toddler on her hip.

Trump has done more actual President work this year than Biden.

As for AOC, notice how the lines of her face don’t shift when viewed through the lens, suggesting no magnification, suggesting that they are purely ornamental, like her brain.

“It is flattering, and I thank those who have put my name forward; however, I do realize that I still have much to learn, so I would like to formally withdraw my name from consideration.”

If her dad were still alive, I’d like to believe that that’s what he’d urge her to say.

Careful what you wish for. There will be a lot more inculcated kids coming of voting age in 4 years time. And a lot more of us in the ground.

Don’t laugh. After all, the Kamala Harris candidacy was just as crazy, and the election was reasonably close.

The Democrats are determined to ruin the country, and their voters obediently vote for their nominees.

AOC could run circles about Kamala.
Don’t laugh.
