Trump on Joe Rogan Podcast: ‘I Hope’ Harris Does the Show ‘Because it Would be a Mess’

“You know it’s funny, you need at least the attitude of a comedian when you’re doing this business”

You knew we would feature this in a post, didn’t you? How could we not? When news broke that Trump had agreed to go on Rogan’s show, I let Professor Jacobson know I was interested in covering it. I’m a fan of the podcast. These days, you can watch the entire episodes on YouTube, but I actually signed up for a Spotify account back when that was the only way you could view them.

This episode is almost three hours long, and I have only watched the first hour, but so far, it follows the typical flow and format of other Joe Rogan interviews. Joe is very good at asking questions and letting people just talk, sometimes interjecting and asking follow-up questions.

It’s a perfect format for Trump who, as you know, loves to talk to people and tell stories about things that have happened to him over the years. This is also one of the obvious reasons why Kamala Harris ultimately declined to go on the show. It’s impossible to imagine her speaking extemporaneously for three hours with Rogan throwing various follow-ups to her.

The interview opens with Rogan asking Trump what it was like to be president when he first won in 2016. Trump said it was surreal, then told a story about being brought to the White House and seeing the Lincoln Bedroom for the first time. Then, they veer into the risks involved with the job.

Here’s a bit about that part from Breitbart News:

Former President Donald Trump spoke about how being a politician is a “very dangerous business” during an interview with Joe Rogan on the Joe Rogan Experience.

During the interview, Rogan told Trump that “one of the beautiful things” about him is that he holds “huge events” and just talks, adding that Trump had “comedic instincts.” Trump added that in the business of politics, you need to have the “attitude of a comedian,” adding that it is a “dangerous” and “tough” business.

“One of the beautiful things about you is that you freeball,” Rogan said. “You get out and you do these huge events, and you’re just talking. We’ve highlighted you on the show many times — when you did those Biden impressions where he’s walking around and doesn’t know what he’s doing. It’s funny — it’s stand-up. It’s funny stuff. And, you were making fun of Elon one time. It’s great — you have comedic instincts, like, when you said to Hillary, ‘You’d be in jail.’ That’s great timing. But, it’s like, that kind of stuff was unheard of as a politician, like no one had done that.”

“You know it’s funny, you need at least the attitude of a comedian when you’re doing this business,” Trump said. “This is a very dangerous business. It’s a very tough business.”

Rogan is also very interested in the fact that so many people in media and entertainment used to be so friendly to Trump but turned viciously on him once he won the election, and Trump gives plenty of details on the subject.

I’m really looking forward to watching the second and third hours over the course of the weekend.

Here’s a fun clip to let you know what you’re in for:

Republicans are the rebels:

ROGAN: “The rebels are Republicans now. You want to be punk rock? You want to buck the system? You are conservative now. The liberals are now pro-silencing criticism. They are pro-censorship. They talk about regulating free speech. It’s bananas to watch.”

TRUMP: “They come after their political opponents. They did something that’s only done in third-world countries. They came after their political opponent. I could have put crooked Hillary in jail.”

ROGAN: “Not only that, but then they’re weaponizing it by saying that’s what you’re going to do when you get into office while ignoring what they are doing right now. It’s crazy.”

Kamala doing the show:

Trump: Can you imagine Kamala doing this show?

Rogan: I could imagine her doing this show.

Trump: She’d be laying on the floor.

Rogan: She was supposed to do it. And she might still do it. I hope she does.

Trump: She’s not gonna do it.

Rogan: I will talk to her like a human being. I would try to have a conversation with her.

Trump: I hope she does, because it would be a mess. She’d be laying on the floor. Comatose. She’d be saying: call in the medics.

Rogan: I think we’d have a fine conversation. I think I’d be able to talk to her. I wouldn’t try to interview her. I’d just try to have a conversation with her and hopefully get to know her as a human being. That was my goal. Having her on, trying to get her to express herself…

Trump describes how he felt in the Lincoln bedroom:

Why Democrats don’t want Voter ID:

ROGAN: Not having Voter ID is the most bizarre argument that I’ve never seen anybody articulate in a way that’s convincing.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Because they want to cheat.

ROGAN: Well, it doesn’t make sense any other way.

Young people:

PRESIDENT TRUMP: “I’m on TikTok now. And I’ve done really well. Have you seen the numbers? Billions of hits — it’s crazy.”

ROGAN: “I think young people are rejecting a lot of this woke bullshit. They’re tired of being yelled at and scolded.”

You can watch the whole thing below:

Trump making this appearance is very smart politics. Rogan reaches millions upon millions of people with this podcast and Trump’s episode is destined to be one of the most viewed shows.

Harris can’t do a 20 minute softball interview after prepping for 2 days. No way her people would let her go on Rogan.

Comedy makes you stand in more than one place at a time – usually three for good comedy. Call it three contexts.

jr would have to kick her out after 5 min

and that would still be 4 mins longer than harris would have planned to stay anyways

Three hours? That seems like a long time for an “interview.” I wonder how much time Trump agreed to. Less, I’d wager. But he’s the type who will just sit and talk with someone, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he stayed on for longer than agreed.

I was out fishing with a group of people this morning. He had a great observation. Because Trump was a business person putting together often complex negotiations/deals, he has had to sit down and have likely thousands of three hour plus conversational business meetings and dinners. Harris has likely never had to do that with something on the line.

    Actually, yes.
I saw a clip from Rogan’s next show (today’s?) where a guest asked him about the length and Rogan said Trump’s people were pulling their hair out because it was running long and Trump had a thing he needed to get to. Joe stated Trump said screw it, the interview was more important.

I’ve listened to Rogan for years. They always go 3 hrs and everyone knows it. I listened to one that was 4hrs. Trump knew it, his people knew it. Kamala knew it which is why she hasn’t shown up and now if she does it looks like she is following Trump around. This episode is heading towards 25,000,000 views. I guess kamala’s “smaller rally down the street” comment is looking pretty lame right about now.

I adamantly refuse to watch anything YouTube longer than a song, and have never listened to Rogan. But I am now 2 hours into the interview. Quite the exception for me to put it mildly.

Yesterday, I cast my third straight write-in vote for president, but I am a former journalist from the days when it was an honorable calling, and a politics junkie, so I have watched all the debates and most of the interviews. So far, I have really enjoyed this one.

Past that, I closely follow the Real Clear Politics polling average. Their numbers need to be adjusted to account for the polling errors relative to actual results in ’16 and ’20. I am adding 1.5% to Trump’s margin as a result. I won’t bore anyone with how I got to that number, but its as solid as it can be anyway.

Trump is now 0.1% above Harris in the RCP average, compared to Clinton +5.4% at this point in ’16 and Biden +7.8% at this point in ’20. I think Trump will take the popular vote by at least +1.5% and likely more, and run the table in the battlegrounds.

In addition to MT and WV, I think the R senatorial candidate will win OH, and that PA, MI, and WI are on the bubble. They will keep the House.

The late deciders are unquestionably breaking for Trump in a big way. The legacy media push is falling as flat as Harris’s campaign. It’s laughable.

Covid forced him to move out of California and how the left went after him really opened his eyes as to how unhinged they are. He is definitely in the left center now and more of a libertarian than anything but he is what used to be common, a center left that would just talk to people, disagree with them but still be friends.

Trump on Joe Rogan is still racking up nearly a million views an hour.

A tremendous interview. Trump was in his element, and Rogan was absolutely on-fire.

Watched it all. Although no news was made, it was a pleasure to watch. Whereas every time Harris opens her mouth you wonder if she is all there, Trump comes across as a warm, funny, knowledgeable leader who knows what he is doing, more “Presidential” than we are used to seeing. This was like a “fireside chat”.

When I got up this morning I think it was at almost 9,000,000. Now it’s nearly 24,000,000. Numbers the legacy media could only wish getting close to. Harris made a giant mistake passing up Rogan.
