Harris Arrived Late to Baier Interview: ‘We Were Pushing the Envelope’

Harris Arrived Late to Baier Interview: ‘We Were Pushing the Envelope’

“Originally, we were going to do 25 or 30 minutes. They came in and said, well, maybe 20.”

Oh, man.

Bret Baier provided some background to the interview, and it makes VP Kamala Harris look even worse.

She arrived late, forcing Baier to rush the interview.

That also explains why Baier pushed so hard to get straight answers:

You know when the kicker in football, they call a timeout right before he’s going to kick the field goal. They’re icing the kicker. So we were supposed to start at 05:00 p.m. This was the time they gave us. Originally, we were going to do 25 or 30 minutes.

They came in and said, well, maybe 20. So it was already getting whittled down. And then the vice president showed up about 515. We were pushing the envelope to be able to turn it around for the top of the 06:00 hour.

So that’s how it started. And I could tell when we started talking that she was going to be tough tub to redirect without me trying to interrupt. I did this with President Obama. At one point I just said, Mr. President, I know you like the filibuster.

I just didn’t even have the chance to sometimes redirect in those ways. I had a lot of other questions.

Not only did she arrive late but Baier said 4 of her staffers were waiving for him to stop.

To my Democratic friends: maybe you should consider swapping Kamala Harris for Joe Biden.

The local fire department is still valiantly attempting to extricate Harris from the train wreck of an interview.

Boy howdy… You could have grabbed any knucklehead off 5th Avenue in Manhattan and that person would have done better.

Kamala Harris isn’t qualified to run a one woman lemonade stand.

She didn’t do her campaign any favors with this performance. At best her campaign can now say they ‘checked the block’ on a sit down interview with Fox. IMO it hurt her with anyone watching other than her own true believing supporters. She won’t have picked up Indy or undecided voters with this performance.

Good on him for making the facts public. She’d like to whittle it down to a 5 minute interview.

It was a good plan – answer every question with a list of Trump’s faults. There was a transition problem that she never got quite right and eventually came off as a bitch-wife, which she probably is.

The plan of listing Trump faults to and audience of Trump supporters was a good one though. Where else would she get that audience.

Listing Trump faults to an audience favorable to Trump might be a good plan — Daniel in the lion’s den, as it were. But if you’re going to do that, you need the whip, chair and unwavering control of the lions. From everything I can see (and who knows what happened behind the scenes, of course) she didn’t have any of that.

It takes aplomb — skill, grace, steely look in the eyes, a bit of humor, and word-for-word control of one’s language and emotions. JD Vance does it well. Trump has it occasionally but he wanders too much. Mr. Walz, of course, is equally as hopeless as Ms. Harris.

I could see Mr. Vance going on ‘The View’ and walking away afterwards without so much as a scratch. Ms. Harris couldn’t manage Mr. Baier.

Every damn one of Trump’s supporters is completely knowledgeable of his faults….and they support him in spite of them…. she didn’t knock off one single vote with that ‘strategy’.

Agreed. The already decided Trump voters are well aware of the negative issues around Trump, those are baked into the cake and have been for some time.

Good point and one the left will never grasp. Of course President Trump is flawed. Everyone on the frigging planet is flawed. People support his campaign because they support his position on the issues and his agenda. The last thing the left wants to do is focus on their agenda. Because nobody supports it.

Hey, Kamala’s very busy being border czar. Its a top priority!

In terms of a vaudeville act, she got the hoop. An act so bad, the performer gets dragged off the stage. The campaign must be very desperate. No way do I believe the polls are close.

Trump has it occasionally but he wanders too much.

It’s a “weave”

Trump is also too repetitive and also too self-congratulatory. Everything he ever did is the best thing that ever happened in history. He would do better simply contrasting records with Biden-Harris, issue by issue, saying that he will just repeat what he has already done and asking people to vote for the record they want repeated.

Can ye smell that smell?
It be fear matey, the fear of a thousand fleas infesting her panties.

Were they late in an effort to shorten Harris’s exposure, or was it because they are simply too incompetent to make it on time?
.

It’s hilarious that her staffers were trying to pull the plug on this in the middle.

Do these people ever try to have backbone and fortitude? Or are they that delusional to believe everyone should and will just roll out the red carpet and listen to word salad with bated breath?

It’s time for Presto to make a Kamala Harris Commemorative Edition:

Did she arrive late to show whose boss? Or was she just being fashionably late, like celebrities to a cocktail party?

She was showing her disdain for the smellies and trying to cut the interview as short as she could to avoid having to answer anything. As Brett said, he left a lot of questions on the table because of time and that was exactly her plan.

Hopefully there is video of the frantic staffers.

That performance didn’t help her at all. If she was going to be like that then why do it?

The envelope marks the edge of the region of parameter space that’s been tested. Pushing the envelope means running the system at the edge or past the edge, where anything might happen, as with a test pilot. It happens when you can’t theoretically solve equations (aka Navier-Stokes equations) and have to rely on the real world for answers.

The only envelope around here is a narrative space that may be traditional.
