Small Ohio Town Becomes Battleground in Broken Border Policies and Social Media Messaging
Before I discuss the reports about Haitian migrants making America’s pets the main course at dinner, I would like to use the Way-Back Machine to review my post from last year: Swan Bake—How Progressive Policies Result In Disturbing Meals.
The three teens who are accused of kidnapping, murdering and eating a New York town’s beloved swan, Fay, for dinner last week were refugees from Myanmar, The Washington Free Beacon reported.The swan and her four babies were kidnapped from Manlius swan pond in Manlius, New York, last Saturday.Eman Hussan, 18, and his two accomplices were charged with felony grand larceny and criminal mischief. Hussan was seen smiling proudly at reporters when police took him into custody.
One year later, the town of Springfield, Ohio, has become the epicenter of social media drama after a man claimed during a town council meeting that Haitian migrants were killing the local park’s ducks.
A Springfield, Ohio, resident has claimed that Haitian migrants have been decapitating ducks in public parks and eating them.The aggrieved man made the claim during a city commission meeting last month to address the influx of legal Haitian immigrants – which has revitalized the local economy, but also sparked controversy among locals.’I really challenge you guys to get out here and do something,’ he told the meeting.’These Haitians are running into trash cans, running into buildings… they’re flipping cars in the middle of the streets…’The man added: ‘They’re in the park, grabbing up ducks by their neck, and cutting their head off and walking off with them. They’re eating them.’
Here is the video. The man is not named in the reports, but his claims seem…genuine.
Thanks to the graphic tools available through artificial intelligence and American imagination, the Ohio resident’s rant went viral.
References to the claim, which allege Haitian migrants have been eating cats, as well as ducks and geese, have garnered millions of views on X, with Vance’s X post racking up 4 million views alone, as of Monday evening. Vance, the Republican senator for Ohio, said he had previously raised the issue of Haitian immigrants “causing chaos all over Springfield,” adding, “Reports now show that people have had their pets abducted and eaten by people who shouldn’t be in this country.
Keep in mind, we know from the report about the swans that migrants are willing to kill and butcher wildfowl. Furthermore, Legal Insurrection readers may recall my recent report on the crime numbers in the Bay Area being massaged…because crime isn’t counted when there are no charges.
Given how much Americans love their pets, and how angry many are at the unbridled illegal immigration that has occurred since 2021, the press rapid response team swept in to protect Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. Our “journalists” are now asserting the resident’s claims are untrue…because police do not have reports of animal disappearances.
Except that the guy carrying the goose was photographed in Columbus a month ago and is not obviously an immigrant from Haiti, much less one in Springfield.And except that the woman arrested for eating the cat was also not obviously an immigrant — and was arrested in a different Ohio town about 100 miles northeast of Springfield.And except that the local police say they have no reports of pets being stolen in a manner consistent with the posts. That guy who mentioned the ducks? A local podcaster wearing a sweatshirt promoting his mayoral bid in next year’s election.
I stress that the press has no proof that the Ohio man’s claims about the ducks aren’t valid, either. Lack of a report doesn’t mean migrants didn’t butcher them.
What is more disturbing is the appearance of another Ohio resident at the Springfield town council, who recounted how the Haitian squatters are forcing her and her elderly husband to move from their home after 45 years:
‘It is so unsafe,’ she lamented. ‘I have men that cannot speak English in my front yard screaming at me, throwing mattresses…[and] throwing trash in my front yard.”Look at me,’ the unhappy resident said, gesturing toward herself. ‘I weigh 95 pounds. I couldn’t defend myself if I had to.’Because of her fears, the woman revealed that her ‘elderly’ husband had decided that they would leave their home of 45 years.’He said…”Guess what? It’s time to pack up and move.’…Then the woman addressed the city officials directly, saying: ‘I don’t know what you expect of us as citizens.”I understand that they are here under temporary protective status and you are protecting them,’ she continued.’Who’s protecting us if we’re protecting them?’ she asked.
Trouble in Springfield has been brewing for quite some time. Last August, 11-year-old Aidan Clark was killed when a Haitian migrant veered into the wrong lane and slammed into the bus the student was on. At least 23 other students were injured in this incident.
It’s also important to note the Harris-Biden administration gave 100,000 Haitian immigrants temporary protected status.
In its reflexive attempt to protect Harris, the American press fails to appreciate how much Americans love their pets, mascots, and local wildlife. The memes spread because they are believable…animals have actually been butchered by migrants.
Normal Americans also want to protect elderly women and children, so further focus on Springfield, Ohio is likely to backfire. Harris’ Haitians are just another example of her broken border policy.
