Ohio Gov. DeWine Sending Troops, $2.5 Million to Springfield Due to Surge of Haitian Migrants

Ohio Gov. DeWine Sending Troops, $2.5 Million to Springfield Due to Surge of Haitian Migrants

“The federal government has not demonstrated that they have any kind of plan to deal with the issue. We will not walk away.”

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced he would send troops and $2.5 million to Springfield, OH, due to the surge of Haitian migrants.

“I want the people of Springfield and Clark County to know that as we move forward, we will continue to do everything we can to help the community deal with the surge of migrants,” said DeWine. “The federal government has not demonstrated that they have any kind of plan to deal with the issue. We will not walk away.”

The city of Springfield claims it has 12,000 to 15,000 Haitian immigrants who “are here legally, under the Immigration Parole Program.”

The immigration FAQ page makes it sound all fine and dandy in Springfield, but the influx has strained local resources, including hospitals, housing, and education.

Not to mention the videos of people telling the city council they have been dealing with squatters, seeing people killing and eating ducks, and not knowing how to drive:

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers have been sent to the city to assist local law enforcement, largely due to complaints that the Haitians don’t understand driving rules in the United States. “Beginning tomorrow morning, OSHP troopers will patrol local roads with the highest crash rates and hold accountable any driver who drives erratically and risks the safety of others,” a press release stated.

One of those drivers struck a school bus on August 22, 2023, killing Aiden Clark, 11, and injuring dozens of other students.

A judge sentenced Hermanio Joseph, 36, to nine to 13.5 years in prison. The Haitian immigrant did not have a valid driver’s license.

Joseph and his passenger had non-life threatening injuries.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost told his office to find any “legal avenues to stop the federal government from sending an unlimited number of migrants to Ohio communities.”

More from WBNS:

New state support announced by the governor on Tuesday includes directing the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Ohio Department of Health to assist in policing and expanding primary care.

DeWine said beginning Wednesday morning, there will be more troopers and patrol cars in Springfield to help police officers deal with traffic concerns.

To help expand primary care in the city, DeWine announced that he is committing a minimum of $2.5 million for the next two years to help deal with the surge of migrants.

“The actions we are taking is in the nature of prevention,” he said. “I don’t want to get anybody in a panic, it’s just stating facts. We need to stay on top of this.”

but they were also packing mre of poodle

Lead story on the abc nightly news with Davis Muir.

What are the troops supposed to do? They’re not allowed to enforce the law and they’ll likely have such a restrictive ROE that at best they’ll just be witnesses.

All this does is use up reservists for a show.

National Guard under State Active Duty laws. They can act in a law enforcement capacity. Whether they do or not remains to be seen.

I think the title may be a bit misleading. Troops implies National Guard but the X post only mentions troopers which I think would mean the state police.

National Guard is not being deployed. That would be far too strong of a response IMO. It is very clear that the governor is sending State Troopers to support local LE.

    From the press release:

“To address the increase in dangerous driving in Springfeld by inexperienced Haitian drivers and all others who disregard traffic laws, Governor DeWine directed the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) to support the Springfield Police Department with traffic enforcement…”

This is going to be interesting and I expect that:

1) If they try to enforce the law in any way, they will be accused of being racist and the Federal government will do its best to penalize those enforcing the law.

2) These are Haitians. Haiti is not exactly a center of law-abiding people who conduct themselves civilly. It is highly likely that any attempt to enforce the law will be met with armed resistance. So what happens if a State Trooper or Guardsman is attacked?

3) Further, what happens if they defend themselves from such an attack? Once again, to the Federal government the invading foreign army is far more valued that any American civilian.

This is going to be untidy.

    1) Yes indeed. If Ms. Harris wins in November, expect this in all 50 states.

    2) Not sure what the state police or guard will do, but I know what the good country people around Springfield will do. It will not be pleasant.

    3) Depends if Merrick Garland remains Attorney General. The news reports suggest that if Ms. Harris wins she’ll nominate Keith Ellison; we know how he’d handle this.

My question: what will the tough talkers do? I’m talking about the ones that are armed to the teeth and make all kinds of interesting keyboard commando declarations on various websites?

That is interesting, and brings up a related point. I readily grant that most of those making threats of retaliation are not going to do anything, at least to start. However, from what I have seen; despite denials by the media and government there are videos of both geese [protected by game laws] and what appear to be field-dressed cats being taken and in the case of the cats cooked. Today I saw reports that farmers in the area surrounding Springfield having pigs stolen and apparently slaughtered and butchered in town, with the heads and waste being left on lawns in town.

Cannot confirm that the last is true yet [but keep in mind that pretty much everything denied by the government turns out to be true]; but we are on the edge of a reaction by the locals. If any American resident of Springfield takes violent exception to the loss of wildlife or pets, or the use of his/her yard as an offal disposal site, or if a farmer violently objects to their livestock [and livelihood] being stolen; the organic waste can very well impact the rotating airfoil.

And you know that the Almighty State will come down, violently and clumsily, and indiscriminately only on American civilians [q.v. J6] in the area. Which will trigger a further reaction and a possible claimed justification for suspending constitutional rights.

The final collapse of a Social Contract is indeed most untidy.

Something I forgot to add in my post below. I have also heard that there is a petition circulating to remove the entire City Commission over this. I assume that is the equivalent of a City Council. Don’t know if it will succeed or not, or will be squashed bureaucratically; but if political means fail, eventually other means arise.

I believe it will be very untidy, officially. Short term chaos directly from this administration’s policy of “you’ll get it and like it”. Now, during the election, will the election workers process ballots from these federally approved invaders, or will they set those ballots aside? In a few years that little town will count all of those people and may end up appropriating more Congress critters following the population increase.

But wait….the credible news moderators last night told me nothing was wrong in Springfield. They even tried to stop a former and future POTUS from speaking about the problems there, all caused by Dementia Joe and Cackling Kamala. I believe EVERY WORD these poor citizens testified to at their town meeting. What a horrible thing for American Citizens and taxpayers to have to live in fear, all due to the actions of a truly evil political party. My heart goes out to all of them. The thing to remember is that there are a lot of Springfield’s around the USA these days. Sad times for the Country right now. Feels like end of days at times. A corrupt party will now stop at nothing to impose their perverted will on the Citizens. (Lawfare, corrupt impeachments, illegal surveillance, censorship, even murder/assasination are not out of bounds) the performance of those moderators last night was a disgrace. God protect President Trump. And God Bless the IDF and Israel. And tonight keep the victims of 9/11/01 in your hearts.

They didn’t claim there was nothing wrong. Just that what Trump was claiming is not happening. Nobody forced him to go with this extreme and bizarre story, when the truth is enough to make his point.

Sorry, I’m in Ohio and I believe the citizens over any “official” version of what’s happening.

Also, is DeWine getting federal tax dollars to import foreigners into Ohio? How many of those, and state tax dollars, are going to the NGOs who perpetrate the invasion?

DeWine has been such a failure.

What citizens? There are no first-hand reports of pets being eaten. None. It’s all hysteria and xenophobic libel, like the hundreds of such hysterical rumors in history, including the blood libels.

There is one person claiming to have seen four Haitians carrying a goose each, with no further information and no reason to suspect anything wrong, and certainly not that they were anyone’s pets.

    Tin soldiers and Nixon’s comin’
    We’re finally on our own
This summer I hear the drummin’
    Four dead in Ohio

    Gotta get down to it
    Soldiers are gunning us down
Should have been done long ago
What if you knew her and
Found her dead on the ground?
How can you run when you know?

But the ABC moderator told me that local officials said migrants aren’t eating ducks; and he would know! Hmmm, how did he know to fact check that ahead of time by the way? Also, what about thee more important issue of how the illegal immigrants are tearing this county apart, and causing death and destruction.

It’s strange about the ducks and geese the “moderator” fact checked as false when I read stories from multiple sources that illegals were indeed eating wildlife and there was a video of a Haitian lady eating a cat on a lawn.

here was a video of a Haitian lady eating a cat on a lawn.

No, there was no such video. There is no evidence at all of even one Haitian eating one cat.

And the bizarre claim was not that they were eating wild birds, but that they were eating people’s pets. There is not a shred of evidence for any such thing, and yet that is what the lunatics on our side insist is happening.

Pathetic. Read the fine print. DeWine is not sending $2.5 million to hold illegal immigrants accountable, or to police them, or to help facilitate their removal or deportation. He is sending $2.5 million to “expand primary care access to everyone living in Springfield”. In other words, another $2.5 million taxpayer gift to fund healthcare for illegal immigrants.

Not because of any real issue.

No, ONLY because the stupid poor unwashed masses found out about it and are making a big deal about it.

DeWine is such a complete scumbag. He’s one of those RINO pieces of trash that I fully expect to ‘shockingly’ reveal that he’s now a Democrat after leaving office.

He’s completely worthless. Disenfranchised every voter in the state during the covid mania by cancelling the primaries. The day before they were scheduled. And shut down everything based on the lies being told by “health experts.”

Unfortunately, his opposition was an even worse choice.

Not enough

But we need headlines big enough it can’t be swept under

Whitewater Wisconsin, small town, also inundated by South Americans

I put one of my large American flags upside down and put a light under to show America in distress

Filled my lawn with flags

The mosque across the street must love it, actually they are kiddie corner after a green belt, but too close for any comfort
They had their “remember 9/11” sign out today, I wanted to puke.

I imagine it’s not to honor our heros

I suppose something is better than nothing and late is better than never. $2.5 million for healthcare support and some State Troopers to assist traffic enforcement isn’t much. This Town had something like 50K +/- residents then had 15K+/- Haitians dumped on them with seemingly very little planning or support for the completely foreseeable problems; schools, healthcare, law enforcement, culture/language barriers. IMO it is unconscionable.

Dewine enabled this problem, for over two decades his family foundation has helped fund a school in Haiti, to the point where in 2023 his family donated at least $400k to the school. He has direst ties and it is little wonder as to why the he was so late to help solve the problem he has direct involvement in.

The charity is also an easy way to funnel nearly $50k in salary to a family members running the organization
