Last month in the aftermath of President Joe Biden withdrawing from the presidential race after intense pressure from senior Democrats, Democratic donors, and elitist Hollywood leftists, GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump made clear he’d be willing to do multiple debates with VP Kamala Harris, but just not on ABC.
“I would be willing to do more than one debate, actually,” Trump said at the time.
“I’m not thrilled about ABC because [of] fake news I watched last night,” he also said, referring to their coverage of Biden’s withdrawal.
Because of that, Harris, her campaign, and her supporters have all been suggesting that Trump is allegedly “backing out” of the previously agreed upon September debate because he’s afraid of her.
“She’s a strong black woman, Donald Trump may not wanna say that, but it’s true and everyone knows it’s true. He’s afraid to debate her,” Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) proclaimed last Thursday.
Left out of their remarks, however, is the fact that the ABC News debate he signed on to was with Joe Biden and on Joe Biden’s terms.
Joe Biden isn’t going to be the Democratic nominee anymore. Kamala Harris is. And because the terms of a Harris-Trump debate have not been agreed upon, and because Trump feels like the debate wouldn’t be fair, he has proposed another debate – on Fox News:
I have agreed with FoxNews to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th. The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, thereby creating a conflict of interest. The FoxNews Debate will be held in the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, at a site in an area to be determined. The Moderators of the Debate will be Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, and the Rules will be similar to the Rules of my Debate with Sleepy Joe, who has been treated horribly by his Party – BUT WITH A FULL ARENA AUDIENCE!….
The Harris campaign’s response was to again claim Trump was “running scared”:
Trump of course responded accordingly by again turning the tables on Harris, claiming it was the veep who was afraid of debating him:
Kamala Harris doesn’t have the mental capacity to do a REAL Debate against me, scheduled for September 4th in Pennsylvania. She’s afraid to do it because there is no way she can justify her Corrupt and Open Borders, the Environmental Destruction of our Country, the Afghanistan Embarrassment, Runaway Inflation, Terrible Economy, High Interest Rates and Taxes, and her years long fight to stop the words, “Merry Christmas.” I’ll see her on September 4th or, I won’t see her at all.
Harris’ response on the Twitter/X machine got a lot of pushback:
Personally, I wouldn’t be calling the guy who took an attempted assassin’s bullet, stood up seconds later, and defiantly urged the crowd to “fight, fight, fight” and who still keeps going as someone who is “afraid” and “running scared” – but maybe that’s just me.
