EU Reminds Elon Musk of Its Authoritarian Speech Rules Ahead of Trump Interview

I bet Musk wouldn’t get a letter if he had an interview with Harris.

The European Union sucks so much.

Thierry Breton, the EU commissioner for Internal Market, warned Elon Musk to avoid “hate speech” during his interview with former President Donald Trump.

Musk will broadcast the interview live on X at 8 PM ET.

Breton mentions the Digital Services Act, the bloc’s latest attempt to restrict free speech on social media platforms.

Oh, I’m sorry. It’s a law to regulate illegal content and disinformation on social media.

Whatever.

“As the individual entity ultimately controlling a platform with over 300 million users worldwide, of which one third in the EU, that has been designated as a Very Large Online Platform, you have the legal obligation to ensure X’s compliance with EU law and in particular the DSA in the EU,” wrote Breton.

Oh, sure, Breton wants to ensure the protection of “freedom of expression and of information, including media freedom and pluralism,” but that doesn’t include “the amplification of harmful content in connection with relevant events, including live streaming, which, if unaddressed, might increase the risk profile of X and generate detrimental effects on civic discourse and public security.”

“Harmful content.” Gotta use vague terms, don’t ya?

Musk already faces charges under this new EU law for allowing “disinformation and illegal hate speech” to flood the platform. The EU accused Musk of rolling “out misleading authentication features and blocking external researchers from using tools to scrutinize how malicious content on the platforms spreads.”

“We are monitoring the potential risks in the EU associated with the dissemination of content that may incite violence, hate and racism in conjunction with major political — or societal —events around the world, including debates and interviews in the context of elections,” continued Breton.

He sounds fun, doesn’t he?

Breton warns Musk that the “illegal content” could become part of the lawsuit if anything happens.

Musk’s response?

Never go full retard, EU.

It makes it worth discussing the collapse of Britain from unrestricted third world immigration.

When the EU is totally dominated by Muslims EU elite will either be fleeing or under the same thumb. Like terrorists, EU elite should not be allowed to come to America, it is likely that they are cut from the same cloth as Obama.

He should just block it in the EU and let the people there suffer because of their idiot leaders.

Musk responded the only way he could

Get F-Ked

I’m liking Musk more and more

Which Way, America. The way of the Founders/Framers, or the way of the EU/USSR/UN model? The disappearance of the “Blue Dogs” is yet a further indication that positions have hardened. The idea of centralism was always a false premise. Moving toward a center always means abandoning your founding principles.

America is poised to choose one of two contrasting positions, positions which have found their way into all of our institutions, Congress included.

Do we want freedom FROM government via limited, constitutional government, or do we want total government. There really is no middle ground. Madison (Fed. 51) poised the same issue. “If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. A dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government; but experience has taught mankind the necessity of auxiliary precautions.”

Rather than government being dependent on the people, as Madison et alia had hoped, today we witness Obama and his crowd of leftists inverting the Framers’ ideal to the point that the people, and as many as possible, must be made dependent on the government which will then go after the producers (“tax the rich” is their shibboleth) with a vengeance, a taste of which has been given to us beginning on 01/20/09.

A great deal hangs on this election. If a Democrat is elected, she will take that as America’s answer as to the question of Which Way.

If I had to pick out from a series of photos what someone named Thierry Breton looked like, it would have been this doofus.

Just one day ago, CBS broadcast an Robert Costa interview with dementia Joe, and the EU didn’t say a peep about it. It’s like collusion or something. Weird.

The letter fails to identify any specific examples of what would have detrimental effect on civic discourse and public security.

In essence, you will be in big trouble if you break my rules, but I will not let you know why you failed until after I correct you.

This is just like Alice in Wonderland.

“When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’

’The question is,’ said Alice, ‘whether you can make words mean so many different things.’

’The question is,’ said Humpty Dumpty, ‘which is to be master — that’s all.”

That’s standard practice in social media, with the rare exception of eX-Twitter now that Musk owns it.

The whole point of social media, as seen by our self-anointed rulers, is a Kafka-esque enforcement regime to hammer down anyone who gets a lot of traction by challenging the official narrative.

“When I make a word do a lot of work like that,” said Humpty Dumpty, “I always pay it extra.” /s

I listened to that audiobook literally 2 weeks ago on a family road trip and my blood pressure went up 20 points in that portion.

Elon should just block the entire EU. People can always use a VPN if they want to get around that but honestly he needs to tell the government of the EU where to shove it.

Or set up X (EU) then apply their foolish standards ….but ruthlessly to the speech of the would be despots in particular. Set up a team of PO libertarians to do nothing but find new ways each day to shove their rules up the ass of these EU tyrants. Suspend the world wide real X accounts of the officials pushing this crap limiting their reach to the EU. All the while VPN accounts from inside the EU of normal Citizens somehow (It’s a mystery we’re working hard to figure out) bleed over seamlessly to real worldwide X.

GREAT IDEA!! Like the Cloward-Piven on the EU!! Make them LIVE BY THEIR RULES! Now “hate speech” is like “beauty” – in the eyes of the beholder! What I’ve seen coming from the UK especially is so over the top HATRED of WHITE UK CITIZENS that just about EVERY comment by the head peckerhead police is HATE SPEECH that should be blocked or condemned! MR. MUSK should be given the Nobel Peace Prize along with all the OTHER Nobel Prizes! He’s been one of the most influential conduits for PEACE and PROSPERITY than any ONE person I can recall! Peace, economics, SCIENCE (the real stuff, not the feel good crap), Literature (his posts are Masterpieces), and all the other categories of which I know nothing are ALL better due to his being! THANK YOU MR. MUSK!!!

Better yet- charge government officials of non-free speech countries a surcharge for the admin overhead they create.

The EU is warning Musk like those ridiculous Ceases and Desist letters lawyers send out earning their pay with no hope anything will come of it but the client insists.

Elon has the ultimate FU money. Enough to tell the EU to come and get him in the USA for speech that does not violate our Constitution. Let’s see how our government reacts to this

American journalism isn’t much better. Washington Post reporter Cleve Wootson asked Karine Jean-Pierre:

“What role does the White House or the President have any sort of stopping that or stopping the spread of that or sort of inter — intervening in that. Some of that was about campaign misinformation, but you know it’s a wider thing, right?”

Shooting for a role in Harris’s Ministry of Disinformation and Freedom.

The MSM in America has also gone insane. I have come to believe they are all mentally retarded as well as ignorant fools. It was hard to watch Jon Karl stumble through the query regarding Trump’s assertion Waltz signed a laws that allowed the kidnapping of children by the State….when in fact, as Vance pointed out, in fact Waltz did sign such a law.

The fact that if government officials, in any place, at any time, cannot understand why the First Amendment is needed is the best possible evidence that it is.

Aimed, as this was, at X on the cusp of Musk’s interview of Donald Trump, former POTUS and current Republican nominee for the same office in the upcoming election, the letter is a barely-concealed swipe at Trump and is an attempt to interfere with his campaign and our electoral process.

Apparently calls for Jihad and subjugating non-Muslims isn’t hate speech to the EU

So now the Europeans want to invade the US not with arms but with speech restrictions by an unelected bureaucrat. May the spirit of ’76 rise again.

you have the legal obligation to ensure X’s compliance with EU law and in particular the DSA in the EU
“No. I don’t.”

I really hope Musk has eliminated all Twitter servers from the jurisdiction of folks like this.

geeze remember the concept of radio free Europe where the BBC could be heard in occupied countries?

History sure does rhyme.

Orwell was right. He simply picked the wrong year.
