WWII Veteran’s Moving RNC Speech: ‘America is Our Home’

During the Republican National Convention, 98-year-old WWII and D-Day veteran Sgt. William Pekrul announced, “If President Trump was back as commander in chief, I would go back and reenlist today,” which sparked a standing ovation from the audience.

During his service, Pekrul recounted witnessing “the horror of the Nazi’s war camps.” He reflected on the aftermath of Hitler’s death and the Nazi’s being defeated.

When he returned home after fighting in Europe, he “kissed the ground” and thanked God he was home.

“There aren’t many of us left today, but for those of us who are here, America is still worth fighting for,” he continued.

“I would storm whatever beach my country needs me to,” he added.

He said, “people say America is an idea, but I believe America is much more than that, America is our HOME.”

His speech, filled with patriotism and urgency, moved the crowd, loudly chanting “USA.”

Pekrul’s message underscored his belief in strong leadership and national defense—to protect his home.

As a side note, he also mentioned being a proud husband of 76 years and having 11 children. His wife, it seems, is a hero in her own right.
