Sacramento City Attorney Reported to Have Threatened a Target Store for “Nuisance” Theft Calls
Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, smash-and-grab robberies have evolved into crash-and-grab.
California continues to be a haven for criminals.
This week, the Sacramento Bee reported that a Sacramento city attorney threatened to fine a Target store for calling 911 multiple times after it was hit by a spate of thefts.
Over the last year, the retail store in Land Park, Sacramento, has been targeted by thieves on several occasions.
Sacramento city attorney Susana Wood’s office responded by accusing the store of causing a public nuisance by calling the police.
If Target didn’t stop calling 911, the city office warned it would hit the retailer with an administrative fine, a source told the Sacramento Bee.
The letter threatening a nuisance violation, which would essentially dissuade staff from reporting in-store crime, was drafted but never sent, the source added.
A police spokesperson confirmed to the outlet that the warning concerned Target’s Land Park store.
This is a black mark for both Gov. Gavin Newsom and the Democratic leadership that dominates Sacramento, especially in light of their efforts against the restoration of more robust penalties for crime.
“Newsom keeps insisting that reports of theft are dropping — well, now we know why. Not only are thieves let off without even a slap on the wrist, but now the victims are being threatened for even reporting crimes,” California Assembly GOP Leader James Gallagher told Fox News Digital.
“Everyone can see that Newsom’s pro-criminal policies are a failure — no matter how much his allies try to cover it up.”
Criminal defense attorney Nicole Castronovo also weighed in on the matter, telling Fox News Digital politicians in California are leaving citizens out to dry, as “crime begets crime.”
“Lawmakers have allowed smash and grab robberies to terrorize our cities. As a consequence, retailers are leaving major cities in droves — taking jobs with them,” she said.
Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, smash-and-grab robberies have evolved into crash-and-grab.
Thieves took thousands of dollars worth of high-end sneakers and shirts from a store in South Los Angeles in a smash-and-grab early Thursday morning, the shops owners say.
The store, Rich Kids L.A. off the intersection of Century Boulevard and Van Ness Avenue, was burglarized at about 3:15 a.m. Surveillance video obtained by OnScene TV showed as many as 10 people running into the store after a white Kia sedan crashed into the front window, allowing them to enter.
Inside, a video showed a mad scramble to grab expensive shoes and clothes off shelves and racks. The suspects escaped the scene, leaving the white Kia behind.
Store owners say it took officers with the L.A. Police Department up to two hours to respond to the alarm. The white Kia was left running for the entire time.

To round out this report, a sign mocking California’s approach toward crime is making the rounds on social media.
A sign posted this week outside of the Louis Vuitton store in downtown San Francisco has caught the internet’s attention. Photos of the sign began to circulate on social media and have since gone viral — one X post has more than 7.7 million views.
The sign, which reads “STOLEN GOODS MUST REMAIN UNDER $950,” appears to mock retail theft law in California.
In the state, retail thefts are prosecuted as a felony only if the value of the stolen items exceeds $950. Retail theft valued less than that is charged as a misdemeanor. That has been the case since voters passed Proposition 47 in 2014.
A San Francisco Department of Public Works spokesperson told Nexstar’s KRON that the sign was not put up by the city. The spokesperson added that a city worker was sent on Sunday to check it out.
However, by the time the worker was there, there was no sign located.
A San Francisco Police Department spokesperson confirmed to Snopes the sign did exist, but had been taken down.

CA facing lost decade under one party rule, dem super majority.
Call 911 and leave message at tone.
More likely a busy signal.
“California Assembly GOP Leader James Gallagher told Fox News Digital.

Don’t use the left’s language. They’re not “allies.” They’re “accomplices.”
If reporting a crime is a public nuisance then that means California’s penal system is being prepared for people defending themselves against criminals.
Stupid idea not to call their bluff. Go ahead. Issue the citation. It won’t go the way they think it will.
“How dare you call for a government service for which you’ve paid for by forced extraction.*”
*Forced extraction = taxes
“Sacramento city attorney Susana Wood’s office responded by accusing the store of causing a public nuisance by calling the police.”
Not even close to the full story as i understand it. It’s a zombie story that just won’t die.

Regardless of what the story is, Target should exit the state of California.
That was, essentially, the same as the basis for the case that Barky brought against Arizona (in collusion with Mexico) in federal court. Somehow, our retarded courts found that the federal government has the power to choose not to enforce federal law and it further has the power to force a state to stop reporting violations of federal law to the federal government if it annoys the federal government and interrupts its treasonous collusion with a foreign power to orchestrate an invasion of America.
Isn’t it illegal in CA to leave a car running with no driver for more than 5 minutes. They got these guys dead to rights this time.
Not including tax.
That’s the funny part, really … usually the left would be more interested in charging someone for stealing “taxes” by stealing an item than any concern over the item or the merchant. If Trump stole a stick of gum the DA would hold him for state tax offenses, charge him once for every chew of gum that could possibly come from the pack, and end up having him liable for 327 years in prison … all without giving any consideration the charge of “theft” or the retailer’s loss.
Right of center California “influencers” on twitter, people who should be retweeting the Sheriff Cooper story are purposefully ignoring it. I’ve no idea why. One center-right wing twitter persona “sacinsidr’ simply deleted their erroneous tweet after others had shown them the Sheriff Cooper comment – and when I reposted it – they didn’t acknowledge my response to their bull-s claim and deleted their second erroneous tweet. Why? Heck if I know.
@sacinsidr
Someone in your original thread posted [excerpt] this from Sheriff Cooper. So, who’s to blame?
And they deleted their second tweet. It’s not like we don’t make mistakes – correcting those mistakes saves face. Everyone wins. We’re mostly on the same side aren’t we?
If Target calls the police to report a theft, how does the Target get to dictate to police hwere and when to arrest the suspects. I think that once you call in a crime the police activity at the crime scene is out of your hands.
I remember the story about Target asking police not to arrest shoplifters inside the store – I thought it was more than a year ago it came out but that might be my mistake – but then I thought that it meant that Target stopped calling the cops.
If Target calls the cops I don’t think the store then gets to direct the cops as to how to carry out any arrests.
It seems to me that something is missing in between the two stories … and with it being Sacramento I am likely to lean towards the city being as awful and stupid as the Target store. Sacramento has not been doing any sort of job arresting criminals for YEARS. Defending yourself against a criminal is more likely to get you arrested in Sacramento.
The twitter post up thread is timestamped. I made certain the cut/paste included the date.

There’s nothing in between these events but time and more shoplifting crime. It’s all one narrative. I believe two Sacto Target stores are involved. The “Lake” store gets name checked. I never shop Target, so there’s that.
FOX and the SacBee retweeted the same nutgraph verbatim. The story is sexy and has legs because “lol commiefornia,” so the yellow snowball goes avalanche mode.
The cops do something right and just for a change and end up getting trashed. Oh well.

Update the story.
Trafficking in half-sourced truths serves no purpose.
Elizabeth Warren, made remarks to this effect that were getting a lot of attention a while back. “There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody,” she declared, pointing out that the rich can only get rich thanks to the “social contract” that provides a decent, functioning society in which they can prosper.
Well, that social contract seems to have been abandoned.
blaming the victims is the lefty way when its their protected people who are the suspects
The store should have theft and no theft sections to resolve these issues.
What and face discrimination charges?
