Flashback: Kamala Harris Wanted to ‘Reexamine ICE’ and Suggested ‘Parallels Between ICE and the KKK’

You know, if presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris wants to show she’s not a far-left fanatic…she has to walk back just as much as potential vice president Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH).

Just kidding. The media will scrub it for her.

The border crisis is real, whether the left or the media want to believe it. It’s not just affecting border states. We’re feeling it in Oklahoma.

Harris is not stupid. She knows how to phrase her questions and comments to disguise her real thoughts. Instead, we have to say she implied so-and-so.

You know what I mean?

For instance, in 2018, she said the government had to “reexamine ICE and its role.” Notice she did not say abolish:

HUNT: A lot of the signs that the rally you just held where people standing there saying “abolish ICE” –SEN. KAMALA HARRIS (D), CALIFORNIA: Yes.HUNT: — is that a position that you agree with?HARRIS: Listen, I think there’s no question that we’ve got to critically reexamine ICE and its role and the way it is being administered and the work it is doing, and we need to probably think about starting from scratch because there’s a lot that is wrong with the way that it’s conducting itself. And we need to deal with that.HUNT: What do you think should be the alternative to ICE?HARRIS: Well, first of all, I don’t think that the government should be in the position of separating families and that is clearly what is part of what’s happening at ICE and DHS. You look at what’s happening, again, in terms of how they’re conducting their perspective on asylum seekers, that is a real problem and is contrary to all of the spirit and the reason that we even have the asylum rules and laws in the first place. So, their mission, I think, is very much in question and has to be reexamined.

In 2019, a year later, she asked acting ICE Director Ronald Vitello if he could see parallels between ICE and the KKK.

Technically, Harris did not compare the KKK to ICE. Instead, she tells Vitello there is a “perception” of ICE having characteristics similar to the KKK:

“Are you aware of the perception of many about how the power and the discretion at ICE is being used to enforce the laws and do you see any parallels?” she asked.“I do not see any parallels,” Vitiello interjected. “That puts ICE in the same category as the KKK. Is that what you’re asking me?”“No, I’m very specific in what I’m asking you. Are you aware of a perception that the way that they . . .” Harris continued, before Vitiello interjected. “I see none,” he said.“Are you aware that there is a perception that ICE is administering its power in a way that is causing fear and intimidation, particularly among immigrants and specifically among immigrants coming from Mexico and Central America?” she asked.

It’s vague. Who has this perception? Where? Not that it matters because we know she thinks ICE is like the KKK:

“It seems to me that you would understand that when you use words like the words you used just three short years ago, that that would contribute to that perception,” Harris said. “And it’s harmful then, it’s harmful, in terms of the mission of the agency and the work of the individuals there. And it is harmful in terms of leading — innocent people arriving at our border fleeing harm, it is harmful to them.”
