So here is some complete speculation without any information.
I am thinking .22 from outside the rally. If you look at the picture of Trumps face above it appears the might have a graze on his cheek near the jawline. He may have been hit twice.
If it was a .22 and they were outside the rally then the rounds may not have had enough energy left to do any real damage, which would explain why there are no reports of anyone in the background being hit, they might have been hit and just not known it.
Also, Trump is in his late 70’s the reality is his skin is more fragile than someone in even their 50’s so the round may have hit and just caused a “skin tear”. Which would make sense for a round that lacked enough energy to do lethal damage.
There are some reports that the SS stated that the “shooter was down” while in the stage I have listened multiple times and I can’t hear them say that.
It would appear that my guess about the rounds not having power was incorrect. Prayers for the family of the person in the crowd who was reportedly killed.

So from the two “scrapes” on his cheek, it appears to me that the shots came from BEHIND his ear — that is, from the right side of the video, as his head was facing left. One through his ear and down his cheek, the other just down his cheek. If you look to the left side of the video, there’s a large man in a red shirt who seems to be tending to a civilian victim who is down on the floor, which would support this theory.
