Inverting Reality: Politico Bizarrely Claims Alvin Bragg “Reluctant” To Go After Trump

“The Harlem Democrat, who at times seemed like a reluctant participant in a trial he launched, secured a place in history as the first prosecutor to land the conviction of an American president.”

Understandably, from now until Election Day, and probably well beyond that, former President Donald Trump and his supporters are going to assert that the Manhattan trial brought on by Soros-funded District Attorney Alvin Bragg was rigged at the highest levels against him and politically motivated, designed to hamstring his candidacy against the current Oval Office occupant, Joe Biden.

It was a drum first banged after the infamous August 2022 FBI raid of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, and which has only gotten louder as each of the four indictments was announced.

For instance, in a statement made after the verdict was read, Trump said “It’s a rigged, it was a rigged trial.”

A blistering ad, released by the Trump campaign and called “Biden’s political prosecution,” referred back to the look on Joe Biden’s face when he was asked what he thought of Trump blaming his prosecution and conviction on him:

In a powerful two-minute ad, they expanded on the “political prosecution” message by pointing to what they say have been deliberate attempts by — among others — Bragg, Judge Juan Merchan, DOJ Attorney General Merrick Garland, and Biden to keep Trump off the campaign trail by way of lawfare at its most corrupt, dangerous, and unconstitutional:

In light of all this, it should surprise no one to learn that the Usual Suspects in the mainstream media are rushing to revise Bragg’s history of promises to prosecute Trump, with Politico portraying Bragg as a “reluctant prosecutor” of the presumptive 2024 GOP presidential nominee:

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg won more than just the case when a jury found Donald Trump guilty of 34 felony counts.

The Harlem Democrat, who at times seemed like a reluctant participant in a trial he launched, secured a place in history as the first prosecutor to land the conviction of an American president.

It’s easily one of the most dazzling feats of jurisprudence the nation has seen — and the sort of accomplishment that could launch him on a political rocket ship to Washington. Indeed, the conviction Thursday drew immediate praise and gratitude from Democrats, who see the former president as a unique threat to democracy — while also intensifying attacks from his supporters and the freshly convicted candidate himself, who has called the case a “witch hunt” and a “sham trial” organized by President Joe Biden.

As readers can see, though, the tweet was Community Noted with links that confirm that Bragg was not a “reluctant prosecutor” for Trump and in fact campaigned on it.

For instance, in December 2021, just weeks before taking office, Bragg said “This is obviously a consequential case, one that merits the attention of the DA personally.”

And on the campaign trail, this is how Bragg framed answers to questions about Trump:

While campaigning, Bragg said: “I have investigated Trump and his children and held them accountable for their misconduct with the Trump Foundation. I also sued the Trump administration more than 100 times for the travel ban, the separation of children from their families at the border. So I know that work. I know how to follow the facts and hold people in power accountable.”

He also said that he would continue with Vance’s investigation and hold Trump “accountable by following the facts where they go.”

Bragg continued to make frequent reference to his legal experience with the Trump family throughout the campaign.

And it’s not just Politico that has gotten in on the act. So, too, has the Washington Post, with their headline proclaiming that the “Trump verdict vindicates N.Y. prosecutor who quietly pursued a risky path.”

The DC Examiner‘s Byron York alluded to what’s behind the media’s Bragg pillow-plumping here:

There appears to be some urgency in anti-Trump world to protect Alvin Bragg’s motives, to deny that the elected Democratic DA had a political motive to come up with a novel theory by which to prosecute Trump. Some are even denying that Bragg won the Manhattan Democratic primary by pledging to pursue Trump. Seems very important to them.

Yes, it’s “very important to them” because they, like their Democrat comrades, are concerned that the Trump Team’s continued claims of a politically motivated witch hunt are going to hold weight with just enough of the American electorate to send Joe Biden and Kamala Harris packing in November.

The thought of this happening absolutely terrifies the media/Democrat industrial complex, so they are of course pulling out all the stops in hopes of neutralizing the message, and part of that includes insulting the intelligence of everyone by declaring they didn’t see the things that have so clearly happened over the last two years.

Politico’s grasp of reality has always been tenuous, at best.

They know exactly what to say to get the response they want from the folks they care about.

Old Soviet humor that is applicable to today’s msm and democrat party.

The past is rewritten so fast you don’t know what will happen yesterday.

I just put it down to Bragg being unusually stupid.

Vladimir Lenin reluctantly assumed leadership of Russia
Adolf Hitler reluctantly became chancellor of Germany
Mao Zedong reluctantly became head of Communist China

If Michael Brown was alive today he would be the next Alvin Bragg … on second thought that could have happened. Is it me or are these prosecutors POC for a reason….. single or double shielded minority…nah my racist mistake.

Alvin Bragg – doing the bidding of his massahs in the D party.

Steppin Fetchit was his father.

Excuse me while I vomit, reading about the nauseating, undeserved and absurd hosannas and fawning adulation heaped upon the vile partisan apparatchik, Bragg.

This Soviet show trial stunt/persecution/subversion of the rule of law represents the furthest thing from an allegedly “…dazzling feat of jurisprudence…” — it was a vindictive, unethical and partisan abuse of the prosecutorial power, for transparent political advantage, whose result was preordained.

Politico’s dishonest, rose-tinted historical revisionism and sycophantic characterizations are galling, but, unsurprising. I expect nothing less from the water-carrying, dutifully loyal Dhimmi-crat media shills/lapdogs/trained seals, advancing the Party’s contrived Narrative(TM).

Blind to the greater evil in their righteous cause of saving us from ourselves for themselves.

Reluctant… which is why he ran for election as DA on the platform of getting Trump. The d/prog their lapdog media and ‘misinformation warfare’ machinery is kicking into high gear to spin this travesty into something other than it is b/c they know it stinks and importantly they are beginning to see that a large % of the public understands exactly what occurred and who decided to, once again, toss civic norms and traditions aside in pursuit of partisan political advantage. See Ted Stevens, Tom Delay and Bob McDonald. Trump is by no means the first prominent GoP figure to face this crap. IMO the failure of the GoP to fight fire with fire has simply encouraged more of it. That we haven’t done so yet and this crap keeps occurring seems to indicate some level of certainty in that hypothesis. Lets try it a new way by doing the same crap X eleventy in every Red County and see if that makes the d/prog more hesitant to continue. Certainly the many lectures about muh principles haven’t stopped it.

Can anyone name one other person in US history who was hit with 4 simultaneous criminal indictments (and 1 spurious, made-up civil case) all at the same time in 4 different jurisdictions by local and federal prosecutors.

CAN ANYONE NAME A SINGLE PERSON THIS WAS EVER DONE TO BEFORE??

And not a single one of the cases against Trump is defensible (in terms of having brought the laughable charges) in any way, whatsoever.

So … Trump gets $100 million stolen from him over completely made-up “assault” allegations brought against him by a crazy lady – who couldn’t even remember the YEAR of the so-called assault, which she alleged happened in Bergdorf’s, at a time when Trump was the Number 1 person in New York and whose every move was followed and documented and written about on Page Six and everything – and then he has half a billion dollars stolen from him by another New York “court” which claims that Trump lied by saying that Mar-A-Lago was worth a billion dollars … 19 or so acres with two different water frontages in Palm Beach … when there was a vacant 2 acre parcel for sale there for $300,000,000!! and the idiot judge claimed that Mar-A-Lago was only worth about $18 million … and now New York is putting Trump in jeopardy of serving over 100 years in prison over their lie about a bookeeping entry marked as “legal expenses”. Over 100 years of potential prison time for a bookeeping entry that meant nothing to anyone.

This country will not be able to recover from these insane abuses of the system unless everyone who participated in the abuses – and I mean EVERYONE – is held liable and served the harshest, most merciless sentences available (and many getting appropriately punished for treason as they should, since they are using their offices and positions to wage war on this nation).

bragg doesn’t even realize he’s no longer of any use to the powers that be who orchestrated this travesty–AND he knows all the uncomfortable particulars

wonder if he’s ever been to arkansas

Mmm…yeah…and how many times has Alvin Bragg bought that old suspension bridge connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn?

I’ve been throttled, shadow-banned and de-escalated in algorithims for stating the impetus of halting the totalitarian march…ownership of a firearm and no fear of using it.
These people only understand violence so they need to recieve a response that can be read.

Desperation by the media to change the narrative. You see this frequently.

Bunch of different networks are floating trial balloons trying to see which one is getting bought by the normies.

You have these guys pushing ‘reluctant prosecutor’. You have another group agitating for ‘just pardon Trump’. Another group trying to claim that any criticism of the jury is ‘death threats’.

etc. etc.

It just showcases their desperation. They had in their minds that the normies that don’t pay attention would automatically accept it as legitimate. They believed the conservatives would have to play defense to convince people it was rigged.

Instead, the first-pass public opinion is that this was a joke of a kangaroo court, they have nowhere to go, because they CANNOT defend it on its merits. They’re panicking because they are the ones playing defense on an indefensible travesty, and they know it.

He has only demonstrated reluctance to prosecute real crimes. Only then is he MIA.

“Relunctant”
Whatever would we do without the vibrancy that is Ebonics.

E Howard Hunt | June 3, 2024 at 6:04 am

To paraphrase Walter Brennan, “no Bragg, just fat.”

You might as well ask Professor Irwin Corey for comment as Politico.

As of this morning, the Trump campaign has raised close to $300M. That’s almost HALF of what Obama raised during the entirety of his record-setting 2008 Campaign. While it’s likely too soon to really measure what this ‘conviction’ has done to the race in terms of voter support, it’s indisputable that it’s the best single fundraising event to impact a specific candidate in the history of all fundraising events.

He’ll be pedaling Ozempic soon.

I’d say Bragg is a dead man walking right now.

the dems have no problem admitting that

by any means necessary MEANS JUST THAT

and then anyone who uses that truth against them

is shouted down

the gop still allows funding of public schools and the msm with our tax money

the power stays in leftys control

He was as reluctant to go after Trump as he is to go after a jelly donut.
